  1. Agree. Although I will say if I get an actual explanation as to why vampire blood can't cure cancer, maybe because the nature of cancer is different than other diseases they've cured on this show, I'll be fine with that. I mean why can't Damon say "well because after I took down the Augustine Society I read through Dr. Wes' journals and it said it was never successful." IDK but I need something better than "well we never heard about it working so obviously it doesn't work" UGH! However I can see Liz refusing vampire blood because she's afraid if it doesn't work and she dies with the blood in her system than she has to put Caroline through the same thing that happened with her father. It's perfectly in character for Liz to not want to become a vampire and be content with dying a natural human death, this could be an incredibly emotional storyline if it's done right.
  2. Agree with everything here. I liked Delena in seasons 1-3 and I would have had no problem with Elena choosing Damon in S3 after everything with Stefan. In fact I felt like her phone call with Damon alluded to the fact that down the road she would probably choose Damon, she just wasn't ready to let Stefan go. The show is much more successful when SE or DE is the side plot and not the central focus, S4 made me hate Delena because I felt like they we're having the same conversation over and over again and the sirebond was just such a frustrating storyline (seriously did anyone like this plot?) Now my problem with Delena is simply Elena, I can't stand the character, but if they can somehow improve her by showing happy Delena than fine just stop with the nonsense. I know people always say "a happy couple is a boring couple" but I don't think that's true, I just think you can't have any couple over power the central plot. I am digging this season though, I haven't been this intrigued by the show since S3. And it's because the Gemini Coven plot interests me, Kai is a fabulous villain and you've seen a lot of different characters interact that previously never did. Bonnie especially was someone who bored me the previous 2 seasons because she was so depressing but now she's become this fierce woman who I want to see so much more of. I know this show is a soap at it's core and it's driven by relationships but it's stronger when it focuses on multiple relationships. I mean I love Stefan and Caroline but even I was over the angst after the 8th episode and these are two characters who never fought previous to this season. I've watched this show since the pilot aired and I know I'm going to stick it out until the bitter end but last season I was so close to giving up and I really hope I don't have that feeling again. S7 should be the end though, I don't want to hate watch this like I do Supernatural.
  3. So as someone who does not like the Delena I'm actually ok with this whole "honeymoon" phase and here's why. I'm so unbelieveable sick of these two just being the center of the show and have all these dumb obstacles (sirebond, doppelganger nonsense, Kathlena, mindwipe) put in between them so we have to drag out the angst between them for no reason. This show seems hard pressed to make me believe these two are actually good for each other and make each other better so fine. Rather than just having Stefan TELL me why D&E belong together SHOW me why I should root for this two because it has failed to do that so far. What I want to happen is after Damon saves Elena (gag) and they'll be all "honeymoon" phase with each other until Bonnie returns. Bonnie is supposed to come back changed and a little darker (bonus points if she calls Elena out on her mindwipe while Bonnie sacrificed herself to send Damon back for Elena) and I want to see Damon putting Bonnie before Elena because he wants to save her and give her back her hope like she did for him. Than Elena will get all jealous that Damon is spending all his efforts to help Bonnie and putting her first rather than focusing on Elena which will allow Damon to see her true colors. Could you imagine if we got Elena vs. Bonnie and Damon choses Bonnie's side! I almost passed out from excitement just thinking about it. For Delena to actually be done done Damon has to reject Elena because of the person SHE is not because he thinks he doesn't deserve her. With the way Elena has been written the last couple of seasons its not out of reach for her to react that way to Damon putting Bonnie before her.
  4. I think Paul Wesley is one of the most underrated actors on TV. I know he’s rarely going to get any recognition because it’s the CW (although kudos to Gina Rodriguez for finally breaking the mold) but I think he’s undervalued. IMO season 3 is the best season and so much of that was because of what PW did with Stefan. A lot of people always say he’s boring and I think it’s the total opposite. I think he’s much more subtle in his emotions and sometimes when people think he looks bored he’s really doing so much with his eyes, and his jaw just showing this internal struggle he’s dealing with. I hope once the show ends he gets more opportunities for movies and directing because he definitely has the talent.
  5. I think when Elena chose Damon at the end of S4 that was when Stefan kind of made a conscious decision that he just needs to move on. I think in the long run for Stefan his brother’s happiness means more to him than his own happiness. I also don’t think Stefan is in love with Vampire Elena. When Katherine was inhabiting Elena last season she asked him if he liked the girl she used to be better than what she is now and he dodges the question. I think Stefan will always care about Elena and love her as a friend but I just don’t see him being in love with her anymore. If I were him I wouldn’t want Elena back anyway, I mean how could he ever trust that she wouldn’t go back to Damon again. This season kind of established that the triangle is basically dead. If they wanted to continue it they would have when Elena lost her memories but it was pretty clear even though she didn’t remember loving Damon she was no longer drawn to Stefan. Nina and Paul have great chemistry but this whole season I haven’t seen anything romantic between them, even the proposal scene was more funny and friendly than anything romantic. The triangle has run its course. I like that the brothers are so close now and they don’t bicker over the same girl, in fact they each have their own separate girls. It seems like Paul Wesley has no problem voicing his opinion to the writers about his character. Even back in S2 he approached them about livening Stefan up a bit and they said don’t worry we got something in the works for S3. He’s also very pro Stefan/Caroline and talks about how much he’d like to see it happen in most of the interviews he’s done since S5. I admire the fact that he says what he feels, doesn't sugarcoat it, the fact that he's hilarious helps too. What’s really funny is Ian seems really pro Bonnie/Damon as well so it’s like both actors want nothing to do with Elena. I think most of the cast is pretty done with the show at this point. I think next season will be the last and that’s the way it should be. Plus if any of the actors what to continue with their characters they could probably just crossover to the Originals.
  6. So I had to re-read the wiki because I thought there was a fire on that alter but I was wrong. However, it says when Tessa did the spell to make Bonnie the anchor she used her grimiore and it set on fire. Although it doesn't say if survived or not, which now makes me think why haven't they mentioned it? I mean Damon and Elena were going through books Ric gave them right, why wouldn't they check the grimiore? Does that confirm that it was destroyed?
  7. LOL it doesn't bother me that vampire blood can't heal cancer, it has to have some limitations. I just need the writers to give me an actual explanation as to why it doesn't work not "well if it did we would have heard about it by now." I'd also like to know how Enzo died from TB but Damon could heal Wes of ebola and rabies. Even if it's a simple Enzo's TB was too far advanced (same as Liz's tumor) that's fine just explain it. I've given up trying to understand witches. You know what I really don't get... why can't witches heal themselves of broken bones or stab wounds? They can do all this crazy magic and give vampires aneurysms but they can't fix a broken ankle. I was just thinking, I bet there's a detailed drawing of the ascendant in Gram's grimoire (since she created this prison world) that would be super helpful right now but no these morons keep burning valuable information!
  8. Julie Plec tweeted a bunch of spoilers via Just Jared Jr.
  9. Maybe because Kai's ability to siphon magic is just a "pure" magic ability like what the Travelers have. I mean the Travelers were able to use their "pure" magic in Mystic Falls after they cast their spell right? Otherwise why would they want to hang out there? I watched the scene again and Kai doesn't chant when he's absorbing the spell his hands just glow, same thing happens when he steals magic from Bonnie and Liv. So even when Kai has no magic abilities he can still use his siphoning magic ability. He then starts chanting when he's removing the chains from himself. What I don't get is because Kai absorbed traveler magic doesn't that mean he only has traveler magic? I know one of the travelers said last season they couldn't tape into "spirit" magic like regular witches they had to use "pure" magic instead. Of course I don't get how that makes sense because when Silas became a witch again wasn't he using "spirit" magic? You know I didn't like the Travelers as a villain last season but this show really dropped the ball on explaining what exactly they could do as opposed to the witches we'd come to know.
  10. Completely forgot about that. They really need to explain the functionality of vampire blood and what it can and can't actually do. I don't know why Caroline wouldn't just give her Mom some vampire blood for the time being just to see if it might make a difference, help heal some of her cells? You know there's probably some useful information in Grayson Gilbert's medical journals too bad Elena had to toss them in the fire because her boyfriend dumped her. On the Thanksgiving episode Kai mentioned that he counted the eclipses to keep track of the days which is how he knew it was Thanksgiving, I assume Bonnie started doing the same thing after that. The speed at which time moves on this show is baffling sometimes, there's 4 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas yet it seems like maybe a week has passed. I don't understand how things "stick" in the 1994 alternate dimension. Like when Damon and Bonnie would go food shopping why were the shelves always stocked? Clearly they went food shopping a lot while they were there so does the food just magically reappear everyday? If that's true though the swing should have re-broke everyday. Also Bonnie said it took 3 days for her to drive across the country if things reset wouldn't the car she hotwired magically transport back to Portland everyday?
  11. I remember in 6x06 Enzo mentioned how he died of consumption and I thought "why didn't the vampire blood cure him" and I guess what they're implying is vampire blood can cure near-fatal wounds because vampires can heal from them but it can't fight a virus. I hope they further explore what vampire blood can actually do because it's never really been totally explained. I could go either way with this storyline depending on how they approach it. I'm also curious how they're going to address just turning Liz into a vampire. As far as what was in the episode I thought PW, CA and ND were all stellar in their scenes and I loved the interaction between the characters. I also didn't think it came off as a set-up for romance between Stefan and Caroline, this was about their friendship. Caroline told Stefan she needed him and he ran away, so Stefan knew it was his responsibility to be there for her this time. I actually thought Caroline was a little harsh in the scene with the lights because it was clear he was trying but I guess ultimately show was afraid to let him back into her life because if how abruptly he left it before. I do think it will be a good storyline for Caroline though and she really hasn't had much of one since S3. Damon is no longer allowed to be incharge if hidding the mystical artifact, he's STILL learned nothing from the moonstone in the soapdish! I liked the Damon-Alaric stuff because like their friendship and I enjoy watching them at odds but I'm with Damon, should have just killed Kai when they had the chance. Speaking of Kai he's really become a fantastic villain. He has shows no remorse, Chris Wood delievers all his lines perfectly and he's always one step ahead of these bozos because he's always plotting. I totally dig him and I liked the twist of him absorbing the travelers spell to get super powerful because I was kind of over the whole magic bubble around Mystic Falls. Although that might have to do with just missing the Salvatore's boozing and plotting in their giant house... ...Speaking of the Damon/Stefan scene was excellent. The best part of this whole season has been the new bond these two have. They're SO much better when they're not both actively in love with the same woman. Is Enzo going to compell Matt to basically spy on Stefan and help him to ruin his life, the only reason he didn't kill him is because he knows Caroline would never speak to him again. I still don't really "get" Enzo, I'm glad he flat out admitted that he was jealous of Stefan for having Damon and Caroline in his life but this isn't really the way to go about rectifying that. I need to see more interaction between him and Stefan, if they want to sell this animosity between them I need to see them facing off more. The flashbacks were nice and sweet in an episode that was otherwise kind of depressing and I really enjoyed watching Bonnie put together the Christmas tree and then watching it burn, very symbolic. I'm REALLY hoping they get her back by 6x12 though otherwise it's just plain cruel and when Bonnie does come back I'd like to see a more badass version. It looks like that's what we're going to get. I liked it, not the strongest of the season but still better than much of the prior 2 seasons.
  12. Her self-centeredness borders on satire at this point, I will roll my eyes into oblivion if this happens. Web Clip: This is kind of adorable. http://m.etonline.com/tv/154990_the_vampire_diaries_sneak_peek_sheriff_forbes_plays_christmas_cupid_with_steroline/
  13. Only reason I think it's Enzo more than Kai is because this show seems determined to make Enzo the villian and killing Liz would do that. However, Enzo seems to really like Caroline so I don't see why he would do it unless like you said it's inadvertant.
  14. I really think it's Liz Forbes even though it's coming off as too obvious now. Looks like her and Caroline have a lot of scenes in the next episode between present day and the flashback and it could be just to make her death that much more impactful. I think a key here is Paul Wesley says "it's a big one that's really going to break the people's hearts" Liz's death would do that.
  15. This really bothered me, in fact why did they even need to hotwire a car couldn’t they just vamp speed and meet her halfway. Do they not understand that time is of the essence and that Liv could bring them back no matter where they were? I swear when Damon is around Elena he has a lot of trouble using his upstairs brain and just seems to do borderline brain-dead things. Another thing, why didn’t Damon have Ms Cuddles with him so Bonnie could take her magic back? I mean he should have at least had that as a back-up plan no? Also yes they had a vial of blood for Bonnie. I felt like this episode was a lot of exposition just setting things up for the mid-season finale. I’m really digging Kai and I liked how he joked about technology and skinny jeans since he’d been stuck in 1994 his whole life. He’s not the most powerful villain but he appears to be the smartest, not that it’s difficult because the MFG is dumb. I do feel like he should have had a couple of broken bones after falling off the balcony in the bar though? Is the immortality curse he had on him in his prison still there? Also did anyone else notice the sign under the balcony that said “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die” I thought that was interesting. I’m so done with Elena, I really tried this season when she seemed a bit better after having her memories erased but that was short lived. Maybe she was right to question why Damon wanted to bring Bonnie back (even though he told her last episode that she sacrificed herself for him) but does EVERYTHING have to be about her! Kudos to Damon for saying it was for Bonnie and for acknowledging that Bonnie sacrifices herself over and over again for them and they let her down. Bravo to Kat Graham for the scene where she breaks down and you see that look on her face where she just loses all hope. I was really enjoying Enzo up until this episode. I just don’t get what he’s trying to prove and why he’s so obsessed with Stefan. It almost seems like he wants to BE Stefan. He wants to be Damon’s brother, he wants Caroline to like him and he wants people to see him as a hero and not a villain. I will give Enzo props for his line about Matt being a big blonde bowl of mush, it made me think of the ongoing joke that he’s a bowl of mashed potatoes. I was happy they cleared up the whole Sarah Salvatore thing because I thought it was weird that Stefan would have left the hospital while Gail was in surgery and not realized the baby survived. It also showed why despite the fact that Stefan is a murderous vampire he does have morals and tries to do the right thing most of the time. However, I enjoyed Matt’s speech to him because Matt’s right, vampires have ruined his life the past couple of years and it’s no surprise he’d finally become sick of them. Still not sure why Stefan didn’t just tell Matt what the deal was though? Obviously Matt’s not going to tell Damon, only thing I could assume is he figured Enzo would find Matt and just compel the truth out of him. Stefan loves keeping secrets and sometimes I feel it’s unnecessary, plus we’re obviously going to meet the real Sarah Salvatore at some point this season now. Stefan looks like he’s about to crack, I thought it was a bit ominous when Damon mentioned him having an existential crisis in the middle of the road. Ugh Tyler you of all people should know NOT to make deals with the villain. Decent episode, good set-up for next week, Kai is close to becoming my favorite villain. Now all I’m wondering is what Christmas song will they ruin forever after they brutally murder someone to it.
  16. Agree to disagee but I'm just going by what Damon flat out admitted. He killed and turned Bonnie's Mom into a vampire even though he won the coin toss and Stefan was the one who was supposed to do it. He didn't let him because he said Stefan was tettering on the edge after his last Ripper binge and as he said "I'm better at being the bad guy." Maybe that's not always Damon's motivation (probably not) but it has been at least once.
  17. Sorry I meant the second time he was with Klaus in the beginning of S3. His switch was still on until Klaus compelled him to turn it of in the 5th episode. The whole humanity switch thing is very inconsistent but what bothers me the most is when they say "I turned off my emotions." No you didn't, it requires emotions to sass people and act like a jerk.
  18. Yeah, he tears the heads off people because he becomes so consumed by the blood he can’t stop himself until he literally tears their heads off. Then he puts them back together because of the guilt, however does he only do this when his humanity is still intact? I know when he was first with Klaus his switch was on and he was doing this but once he switch was off we never really saw what happened? He actually seemed to have better control when his switch was off if that makes any sense. I know Klaus said it was because of loneliness that Stefan wrote the names on the wall in the 1920s but I think it was more so the no humanity Ripper keeping a tally of all his deaths, because in a sick way he was proud. Stefan said once that Elena was channeling all her emotions into rage and he knew that because that’s what he does when he’s the Ripper so I do agree that Stefan is a very angry person. I still think he’s sadistic though, I think at the time when he’s torturing someone he is getting pleasure from it but depending on whether his switch is on or off he feels remorse after because of the morals he tries to keep. Stefan’s on-going goal is to be “in control” he strives on it so much and he HATES the fact that he can never really stay in control for too long. He talked a lot this season about “starting over” and having a system that he has to follow because otherwise it won’t work and when something doesn’t go according to plan (like Enzo and Caroline showing up and Enzo killing Ivy) he snaps back into that cold callous person. I mean when he compelled his boss to bury Ivy’s body so he could go murder Enzo I saw a lot of that old Ripper coming out. Very true about Stefan being won over by people who are just naturally kind. I think Elena, Caroline and Bonnie are three people he sees this with and I don’t think he’s ever done any physical harm to any of them. Well he did with Elena when she didn’t have her humanity but I know he was very conflicted about what him and Damon were attempting, and like you said maybe that stems from her arrogance. Arrogance is definitely his trigger though. However, when he’s feeding and he’s the Ripper he does seem to go for innocent women but as a male vampire you’d probably just prefer to snack on a woman’s neck rather than a man’s. Stefan once said to Damon “I was worried that you had no humanity left inside you, that you had actually become that monster you pretend to be” and I think that kind of sums up how I feel about Damon. He’s always perpetrating these acts to be this monster because he isn’t actually one. I do think Damon’s main motivation to being the bad brother is so that Stefan doesn’t have to be, because he knows how much being seen as good matters to Stefan. Maybe that’s why Stefan could never give up on his brother despite all the awful things he’s done to him, and that’s why he was so lost without him. Klaus is somebody that I just have a hard time figuring out what his motivation is. I think out of the three of them Klaus is the worst but that might be because I find him the whiniest. Caroline's always seen the good in people so it makes sense that she saw some good in Klaus despite all the terrible things he’s done, plus Caroline realizes she’s no saint either. However I do think that the people who matter to Damon (Stefan, Elena possibly Alaric and Liz) constantly forgive him (especially Elena but I’ve already said my peace on THAT) so why should he think otherwise. The only person who seems to have never truly forgiven him for what he did to them is Caroline. I think Klaus initially wanted to use it on Elena but then when he realized there was only one dose he switches sides because he realized they’d use it against him. Klaus’ main motivation behind Stefan keeping it a secret though was probably just to make Stefan spend time with him... because he’s secretly in love with him ;) In 5x20 when he made Elena keep the secret about killing Enzo and Caroline was upset because she felt like he trusts Elena more he said he did it because he didn’t want her to think any less of him. So yes I think how he views Elena has changed. He doesn’t seem to care if she thinks badly of him because she’s no longer on that pedestal in his mind. Stefan is a very private person for sure and he’s very hard to read most of the time but throughout his friendship with Caroline he’s always seemed pretty open with her. I think Caroline knows his limits a bit on what he’s willing to talk about and what he’s not, it’s one of the reasons she was so upset about him shutting her out, he never did that before. If they do get into a relationship I think stuff like that would be something they would have to work on together though. I read somewhere that Katherine was supposed to die in 5x11 but one of the writers was like “hey how about we put her in Elena’s body!” and I will forever hate that person. Sure ND did a great job of being Katherine while pretending to be Elena but that was fun for like one episode. I wish they’d just killed Katherine in her bed on the high note, she was a great character and she didn’t deserve that dumb storyline. Plus the Katherine aspect wasn’t even the worst part of that arc! The complete regression of Damon’s character to the point where he was gleefully threatening to kill Jeremy was just infuriating. I mean maybe I could buy killing Aaron because he was upset Elena broke up with him (after he you know broke up with her) but even that makes my blood boil.
  19. I feel like Buffy/Angel and Stefan/Elena both had that epic romance where they were just so in love plus there was the whole Angel turning into Angellus in S3 and Stefan becoming the Ripper in S3 that basically spelled doom for both romances. Also in S3 Elena trained with Alaric to be a pseudo-vampire slayer to protect herself from Stefan so there is that. Oh man Max/Liz from Roswell were my forever OTP! I can see the similarities with Stefan/Elena in that he saved her life with his "supernatural" powers and she had to keep the secret of who he really was. Hey there was even a suspicious sheriff who was the parent of one of their friends who kinda knew vampires/aliens existed. I really liked Jeremy and Anna. I thought the actors had great chemistry and it was nice to have this cute but not epic little romance between a human and a supernatural. It was nice when they brought some finality to the relationship in S3 when she came back as a ghost but I still kind of miss it. I don't know if you watch the Originals but when they had the flashback episode with Tatia she talked about her husband dying and all I could think was I bet he had Paul Wesley's face. Markos said the spell was the "promise" of true love so I guess it was just some kind of cosmic pull that would bring the dopplegangers together for unknown reasons and then there'd be some kind of mutual attraction. Katherine mentioned in 5x11 to Damon that when she first met Stefan it seemed like fate and she was instantly smitten. I mean Stefan seemed pretty over Elena once he was telling her to fix things his brother. I think what happened was Katherine jumped in Elena and screwed with his head, he also seemed kind of oblivious to Katherine's advances at the Bitter Ball. I know he kissed her back but she was flaunting herself post-shower nude in a dark motel room, the man has urges ;) Once he realized it was Katherine he once again seemed to be totally over it again. But yeah in 5x18 it did seem like whatever spell Markos had cast was over things became very platonic very fast. I think if we didn't have the whole "Katherine jumps in Elena to win back Stefan" it would have been more organic.
  20. Well he kept the cure secret at first because Klaus made him swear to secrecy and Klaus could easily kill him (not that he would but that's a whole other story.) I don't remember why Klaus felt it was necessary but that was Stefan's inital motivation. I get what you're saying about Stefan only keeping secrets to "protect" Elena (Katherine's likeness to her, his blood addiction, his Ripperdom post 1912 etc.) but I still think a lot of times it's unecessary, maybe no reason wasn't the best phrase. See that's why I like it. If it happened in S4 or earlier it would have felt forced and it would have been seen as a rebound (at least in my eyes.) I didn't even see them as anything more than friends until late S5 (some fleeting moments in between though) because I wasn't sure if Caroline was really over Tyler or Stefan was over Elena. Of course to each his/her own. Also I know a lot of people don't want to see the relationship anymore because Stefan was a dick to Caroline this season but it's not like he's not making an effort to right his wrongs. As soon as Damon came back he wanted Caroline back in his life, she said she didn't want to be friends anymore he still went to her dorm to protect her. He took all of her verbal abuse while helping her save her Mom because he knew he deserved it but he wanted to help her. Then he finds out she had a thing for him and she tells him she no longer does and she hates him. And after all of that he doesn't get invited to Friendsgiving (which he was so salty about) and the first thing he does when he gets back to MF-Adjacent is tells her why he pushed away "the most." Look did Stefan deserve what he's gotten from Caroline, absolutely but he has apologized a couple of times now which is a lot more than he did when he attempted to drive Elena off the Wickery Bridge (that STILL makes me angry.) Exactly. Stefan's main issue is he thinks you can either be friends with someone or in love with them you can't be both. The one time Stefan didn't think of Caroline as his friend (when he had amnesia) he called her hot and I felt pretty blatantly flirted with her in front of her boyfriend at that Whitmore Ball. He's just confused but if he really had no feelings for Caroline he wouldn't have asked her why she had/has a thing for him and when she accused him of not feeling it back he wouln't have said "No, I didn't say that." I wholeheartedly believe when he spoke to her in the hallway last episode and his entire vocabulary vanished when she finally smiled at him it just kind of hit him. I could easily be wrong but I will live in my positive little bubble until the show bursts it :)
  21. I know a lot of people think S5 was TVD’s worst season but I really think it was S4. The mythology was all over the place, the stupid sire-bond, the characters were very OOC, like you said it was not kind to Stefan’s character and I think Caroline suffered a bit from being a bit too sanctimonious and judgy. However Stefan has always felt the need to keep secrets from people for really no reason. I thought it was kind of dumb when he didn’t want Damon to know he killed Enzo (mostly because Enzo basically did it to himself) and we still don’t really know why he didn’t tell Alaric he wasn’t searching for Damon & Bonnie anymore. I love all forms of Stefan but I think Bitter Stefan is my favorite ☺ that line was perfection. I also enjoyed when he snapped Damon’s neck and said “You’re welcome” just the best. Of course that scene was another example of Elena making Stefan’s pain all about her just like she did in S5. Besides Stefan had every right to be upset, especially after that scene where Rebekah compelled Elena to say why she was in love with Damon now and not Stefan. I don’t think Elena is in love with Stefan anymore and vice versa. I know she didn’t fall out of love with him when she supposedly fell in love with Damon (which apparently was 3x01) but maybe it happened when she became a vampire. I do know that she was jealous of Stefan and Rebekah when she supposedly wasn’t in love with him anymore, I think she’s just friggin greedy. She got jealous of Tessa, Katherine and Caroline (even with no emotions) too so who the hell knows. I will say she hasn’t seemed jealous of any girls around Stefan since 5x18 when they have that nice talk in front of the fire after Markos lifted the traveler’s curse and they stopped having those visions. My real question is did Stefan fall out of love with her because he knew she loved his brother and he wanted his brother to be happy or did he just finally realize she’s a truly awful person (it’s probably the former but I stand by the latter.) I too will never buy Delena as the true love/OTP relationship on this show no matter how much the writers try and force it. If you ask me Stefan will always be the better choice for Elena BUT she is not the better choice for him. And since the show has now said that Human Elena was in love with Damon as well as Stefan I don’t think it can all be blamed on her vampirism. She’s just like Katherine she wanted them both and neither brother deserves that. Let’s be real though the true love story of this show is Stefan and Damon. I think that Elena is just the catalyst to them repairing their bond and getting to the point where we’ve had Stefan sacrifice everything to save his brother’s life and Damon sacrificing his life to bring Stefan back. I think this season has really shown that’s what’s most important is the brothers’ relationship, best decision they ever made was having Stefan be the first person to see Damon when he came back. God that was such a great scene!
  22. 4x16 when No Humanity Elena threw a party at the Salvatore House.
  23. I absolutely think that both sides are there for Stefan I just think the core of whom he is a very dark character. And I think he knows this and it’s why he tries to be “good brother” and sees himself as the hero. You can also see Stefan gets kind of tired being the hero all the time. I remember him mocking the whole “hero hair” thing with Damon and I think clearly this season he just gave up being the hero. Although when Damon returned he’s definitely started to come back to where he was before Damon died. Look I LOVE Stefan he’s my favorite character and that’s because of all his flaws. The fact that he knows if he gives into his darkness just a little bit it will consume him. Stefan’s biggest problem is he lacks the concept of moderation, be it bloodlust or love he seems to do everything to a completely obsessive degree. And when he has something on his mind (like revenge) his morals tend to sway A LOT. Yeah but what I mean by a reason is Damon being upset about something, he acts on impulse A LOT. Hey there may have been a time when Damon did something just to be a dick but I just can’t think of one, I feel like there was always (however twisted it might be) motivation to doing it. I never watched Angel until a couple of weeks ago I decided to watch the series on Netflix (just finished S1) and I could not believe how similar Stefan and Angel are! I’m holding out full judgment until I finish the series but I can see why Cindy from TWOP use to call him Angel-lite now for sure. I can also see similarities between the Buffy/Angel relationship and the Stefan/Elena one. I too use to really love the Stefan/Elena relationship but after S5 and that speech Elena made to Stefan about needing to know if HE was ok (after drowning for 3 months) so she wouldn’t feel bad about having the summer of her life being IN LOVE WITH HIS BROTHER I was done. I like that they’re friends now but if they ever got back together I would lose all respect for Stefan, I just don’t see how he could ever see her the way he used to. Of course now that I can look at the Stefan/Elena relationship from past seasons more objectively I can see why people think they were boring. I think Stefan was always too concerned with protecting Elena (from himself and outside forces) and he could never truly let himself be happy. I think Stefan’s true happiness lies with Caroline. I always enjoyed their friendship and I loved how Caroline always lightened Stefan up a bit, the scene with them at the party where he threw her over his shoulder was the most adorable thing ever! And as much as Stefan wants to (and does) protect Caroline he also knows she’s more than capable of handling herself. They think the world of each other and balance one another out. I’m very interested in their journey and I if there’s one pairing on this show I want to be “endgame” it’s them.
  24. Don’t get me wrong I do believe Stefan is very much “the hero” in that he will always protect the people he cares about and sacrifice himself for the people he loves. But there’s a very dark side to Stefan that he tries to suppress and I think being “the hero” and being “the good brother” are his defense mechanisms to hide the sadistic part of him. You see glimpses of it even when Stefan is on the straight and narrow, like when he threatened John Gilbert to leave town. And when Stefan has no humanity he’s a sick f*ck, I mean Klaus said that’s why he wanted Stefan as his wingman he’s seen how he enjoys torturing people for fun (like making a man drink his wife’s blood.) I do think “good Stefan” is real but I think since Stefan became a vampire there’s a sadistic part of him that’s deep below the surface that he knows if he let it would take over him completely. It’s like he said to Caroline if he lets himself enjoy it even a little bit he risks becoming the ripper. *** Just wanted to add more about Stefan I remember last season when he had amnesia he was honestly a pretty big jerk. He didn’t seem to feel too much remorse when Damon told him about all the people he killed. He was pretty close to killing Jesse after Elena flirted and lead him on all day and then tells him “oh yeah I’m actually doing your brother now.” He literally said “what’s the point of being good?” I think that’s a big reason why Stefan keeps his journals he needs those memories to remember why he should be good. I don’t think Damon never cared about being a good person, him and Stefan were best friends when they were human so he must have been good to his brother. I think Stefan was the “golden boy” especially in his father’s eyes and Damon probably did things to anger his father on purpose because he hated that. Damon is definitely more driven by his heart and impulses than Stefan but that doesn’t make him bad. When Damon first became a vampire he hated it and resented what he was, he seemed appalled when he had to feed on people to survive. Then he met Sage and she kind of taught him how to enjoy it. I just think Damon does bad things for a reason like he said “If you're going to be bad, be bad with a purpose or else you're not worth forgiving.” Like when he turned Bonnie’s Mom even though Stefan lost the coin toss, he’ll always do the bad thing to protect Stefan from having to do it. I think he does that because he knows the tight rope Stefan walks to continue to be good. And yes Damon does enjoy torturing people with a poker but he only does that to get information out of them (i.e. Mason and Kai.) He also does it to people who have either threatened him or someone he cares about. In the end I don’t think either brother is really “good” they’re both serial killers and can just be complete dicks. I just think Damon is bad to stop people from seeing the good whereas Stefan is good to stop people from seeing the bad.
  25. I think Stefan's relationship with Elena started because he wanted to be loved by the "good" Katherine. That's how he saw her, the sweet innocent version of his first love. I remember when Stefan was explaining to Lexi why he was with Elena (because she knew it was because she looked like Katherine) he said "Elena's warm and she's... she's kind, and she's caring, and she's selfless, and it's real." I also don't think Lexi really bought it, I know she died in that episode so we don't really know if she would have actually been "Team Stelena" she was more so "whatever makes you happy dude." Of course Lexi clearly thinks Caroline is good for Stefan because in the end she's all those things Stefan saw in human Elena. I don't think Damon chased redemption I think he just wanted to be the one to "get the girl" for once. He wanted to be the one who was picked. In 2x01 he had Katherine tell him she never loved him it was only Stefan and then he had Elena tell him "it's always gonna be Stefan" even the Salvatore's father favored Stefan over Damon. I will say Damon's temper has been a lot better this season. I really hated how he flew off the rails last season after Elena dumped him after all the growth his character had gone through. It was very refreshing when this year after Elena rejected him because she erased her memories of him he didn't go on a murder spree, he just kinda hassled Alaric. I always like the analogy with Damon and Stefan that Damon is the good brother trying to be bad and Stefan is the bad brother trying to be good. The good in Damon is what Elena saw and she wanted to bring it out of him more often, she stated this a couple of times. Maybe its why she always wanted to excuse his bad behavior, because she knew he was just acting out and that deep down he was really good. I think vampirism makes all of these characters a malicious and toxic species (Stefan made a great speech about it in 5x21) it's just a matter of how much of their humanity they can continue to hold on to. I think that Damon held onto more of his humanity than he wants to admit whereas Stefan doesn't want to admit how much of his humanity he's lost. In the end though I don't know if either brother should really end up with Elena. I think they both love/loved her and her being in their lives definitely helped improve the brother's relationship with one another but I just don't know if she could ever have a truly healthy relationship with either brother, and I think she's the problem. This would make me so happy. I'm still not sure if I'm Team Bamon romantically or just friendship but I think that Bonnie is someone who does challenges Damon. She will always call him out on his crap but she still sees the good in him and that he does feel remorse. I am however very much Team Steroline because she didn't forgive him for his crappy treatment of their friendship without a proper apology and an explanation as to why he pushed her away specifically. Could this show ever really go into an arc where Damon is dating Bonnie, Stefan is dating Caroline and Elena is single? I don't know that might be too much even for this show, but you never know...
