  1. I don't think this is so unbelievable. They film MANY hours during the 3-6 month time period. Crap is bound to happen. I liken it to when on the Real Housewives of Orange County was filming and Vicki's mother died during an event. Things happen. Quite frankly, at the size that Whitney is she may have decent blood work or cholesterol or blood pressure AT THE MOMENT, but her absolute lack of real mobility, the fact that she was already teetering on diabetes, and the obvious pain her joints have to be in - being that super morbidly obese means it is only a matter of time when the generally resilient human body starts to break down (we are already seeing it on this show). So having your back go out in the shower while she is being filmed is not so crazy to me.
  2. Well, not only have I been around fat people but I am still "fat" - although losing weight. I have lost 32 lbs since February. I have NOT had anyone act crappy to me what they do behind my back is something else entirely but I have never had anyone at a gym, on a hiking path, in public, at stores (both low end and high end), public transportation, etc. The last time I think anyone has said I was "fat" or some kind of insult was back in college and that was about 18 years ago. For the record, I work in consulting so I am constantly in airports, different cities and even foreign countries. Honestly, I am not saying my experience is the end and be all it is definitely only an anecdotal experience but I have to wonder if people have different experiences based on how they carry themselves or if there are other things at play other than just weight. For the record as of today I am 240 at 5'3" so obviously fat and not just a "skinny" fat.
  3. I swear I read somewhere on this forum that a poster was in Charlotte for the parade and she was in the scooter seemingly pissed the entire time.
  4. I am not sure - I mean it could very well be. There was a recent thread on Reddit asking if anyone had any experience working in Reality shows and how much was fake/real. Someone wrote that they had experience with the show (here I found the post) "Some experience with a show that portrays a very large woman doing all kinds of active, artistic, and fun things. Some of it is actually true but they have to edit out some really crazy looks people give and even some mean comments by passerbies. They also said she was not as popular as the show made it seem as everyone was being paid to treat her affectionately and kind when really people thought of her as disgusting and ridiculous." I think if she were just walking around in public with no cameras or doing any "stunts" or anything - people would probably look at her and maybe make a face but not say anything. I think being filmed makes people "braver" to say crap to her or yell things out. Similar to how you sometimes see people hiding behind news reporters and doing stupid crap while the reporter is live on air.
  5. My cousin and I noticed this. I don't think her size allows for anyone to sit parallel to her in the car - an SUV. I think it says something that she took up almost the entire back seat of her dad's car. And that she has to drive so she can actually "fit"
  6. My impression was that Todd no longer lives in Greensboro - and that he actually lives in NY but comes down to NC for filming. In late 2014, he had a post about flying from NY with a friend to NC and would be there for a few months (August to November).
  7. It doesn't hurt my vulva but I actually got fitted for a bike seat which is NOT cushioned - I have been told that the more cushioned your seat is the more funky things can put pressure on your soft bits. What does get sore is my actual seat bones even with bike shorts. I never ride long enough to get more "calloused" as I typically do other types of workouts and not just biking. I am in the high 230s and I don't have a big of a gut as Whitney but lord I feel like an elephant cycling so I can't imagine how tough it feels for her I think this is the difference between "reality" tv and reality. The radio station had to know that they were going to hire her because honestly I don't know any employer of mine who would willingly be on any tv show. The dance class is solely a story line - it is not "real" and from everything I have researched it is just done when there is filming so those students are paying around $5.00 a class and being filmed. I think that is the "draw"
  8. Supposedly the Greensboro Grasshoppers are off season during the filming which is why she only has the one "job" teaching the Big Girls Dance Class which is ONLY operational from all indications that I can tell during the filming of the show. So the "internships" and most likely the baseball job are all really storylines. Her REAL job is being a reality star.
  9. If you search on the big girl dance class it says on her page, "How do I join Big Girl Dance Class? If you living in Greensboro, NC or the surrounding area, you are welcome to join Big Girl Dance Class. If class is being filmed that day, it is free of charge, but you must be over 18 years old and sign a release. If class is NOT being filmed, the cost is $5.00 per person and all ages are welcome. All races, sexual orientations, and abilities welcome always! Check the calendar for upcoming classes!" If you click on the calendar there is nothing at this time. I I don't think Whitney wants to work i.e. She is not serious about being a dance instructor it is only for the show. Her job is the reality show ;)
  10. The dance class is not real. They only do it when the show is filming. I don't live too far from the area and looked into it. ;)
  11. I am an equal opportunity person (unattractive people are unattractive whether you are a minority, female/male or a little person). I agree Brianna is the most unattractive woman on the show (out of either franchise). I think that must weigh on her-- I think she knows. I think Terra is actually very attractive and I think she knows how to play to her attractive features. I also think Christy is not unattractive, I think sometimes she doesn't think about her mouth gaping open all the time but I think she is actually attractive. Even Little Boss is attractive. I think her lack of looks, her poor decision making and I think overall low self esteem has been impacting how she makes choices in the men she meets. I think she was desperate to be in love and be partnered up with someone.
  12. If her earnings go down and she ends up broke, she can definitely sell those Birkins (and I think she had a Kelly as well)-- assuming their are real. Hermes bags keep their value much better than a car. ;)
  13. Honestly, i can't wait until Nene's 15 minutes is over and done with
  14. Well I am obese, Whitney has about 140 lbs on me so I guess I am not super-obese but I hold down a corporate job. Heck, I hold down a consulting job and travel 50-100% of the time (via air -- I can fit within an airplane seat so there is that). I made it to the equivalent of a director level for a 50,000+ employee company before I went into consulting. I have worked with some women who were bigger than me and one thing that I think ALL of us had in common is that all of us were very well put together, dressed for our bodies (not painted on spandex Whitney is a fan of nor sleeveless shirts), and most of us were actively trying to lose weight so we were not foreign to the gym or other activities. If the metric is needing to have a special chair ordered, then none of this woman nor myself were obese enough for that-- I have personally not run across that in the office (people who can't fit into a chair).
  15. I can't really like her either. Her over the top boisterousness seems "filler" and a mask of trying to be really really like herself so much but deep down she really doesn't. Granted, if she is acting for the cameras then maybe I can buy into it a little, but at the same time I just can't understand the types who go on a reality show and play to a part. As someone who has PCOS I am even more offended with how much she is playing into all of the fat logic that I see people hating on whenever they see a fat person. I am overweight, ok correction I am obese right now. I try really hard to watch what I eat, get exercise, take my meds as prescribed and stay away from the things that I would much prefer to eat. Meanwhile her persona on the show is constantly portraying that it is her condition that makes her fat. No way, no how does PCOS cause you to gain 100lbs in a year, perhaps an addiction to food, booze and bad habits actually contribute to that kind of weight gain. I just really loathe that she is the poster child for PCOS. Then the icing on the top is that on the show she is "wanting to change", she is "dancing" all the time and yet still needing "snackies," drinking lots, and so lazy and out of shape she needs her friend to drive from central NC to the outer banks to rub her down? Pathetic.
  16. Actually this is what I constantly think, the same applies to Holly and Jill. Nia, Kendall, Brooke, Paige, Chloe and Mac are just... average talent dancers. Sure they work hard, but they are just run of the mill. I see kids like them all the time. Nia, god bless her, is even less skilled than the others. Maddie- I don't think she is spectacular but I do think that she has a tremendous work ethic and she seems to be growing into a better capability. I see her being employable - heck I thought her Sia video was great. Generally, I don't get bored watching her. I usually always get bored watching the others. Even Chloe-- she has no spirit in her dancing-- it just tends to be one note with a plastered expression that actually looks like a statue. I think she was much cuter, and interesting to watch when younger, but now she is just a snooze fest (similar to Mackenzie). They are all perfectly nice children just not anything amazing. They drive me nuts with thinking that if Abby just spent more time with them they would be better, amazing. Not gonna happen. It reminds me of a rich white kid I knew who went to all of the basketball camps, special coaching, tried to be as good as one of the poor black kids in high school-- who was just naturally talented. The white kid had skill and capability but not the innate talent. His family arranged for him to play on the college ball team (one of the top southern teams) but he pretty much just heated the bench while watching his old high school classmate get groomed for a career in the NBA. Coach would let him play anytime a few minutes when there was no chance of losing, but in general what his money could never buy (nor his desire) was real innate talent. Although I don't think Abby should be cruel to those kids-- the reality is that Nia is not all of a sudden going to turn into an amazing dancer. She will never be Misty Copeland-- no matter how much instruction she gets (and the same can probably even be said for Maddie-- although I could see her being employable down the line).
