  1. Soooooo many dudes. And the few women we do get are: Wife #1, Wife#2, Sunny's Girlfriend and Black Widow Baroness. I'm really not impressed by the representation. I also wasn't really impressed with the plot and Marton Csokas' southern accent was really weird to hear, especially when his natural accent is pretty nice. I'll give it a couple more episodes, but I'm not expecting much at this point.
  2. Episode description: Sigh, gotta love a good "everyone's screwed up" ending montage.Unsurprisingly, Jay has managed to screw up a preferctly decent relationship. Laura's relationship with Paul is a little odd, but either he trusts her or he doesn't. And demanding to see her phone is always the wrong thing to do. Nate has so many things he needs to work through and an illegal fight in Fresno isn't gonna be the place to do it.
  3. YAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSS. I really liked what they were doing with her at the end of last season, and it feels like she's been backtracked so much so far. Hopefully this is all just build up to her really coming into her own.
  4. Oh my GOD. Will you people just talk to each other? Almost all of the conflict is because people either wont say what they want (Lisa/Alvey, Christina/everyone, Jay/Laura) or can't even admit it themselves what they want (Nate). You know its all screwed up when Alvey is the voice of reason aboyut this. And Alvey is so screwed over with this deal. And Chapas played him perfectly. It's like the line from American Hustle "the more you tell someone no, the more they want in." I think she realizes that she doesn't want to be with Alvey anymore, but thinks she needs to be for the kid. So she's miserable and is taking it out on Alvey. Once again, something that could be fixed if people would just TALK.
  5. Yeah, I can't *hate* Alvey either (Frank Grillo is in my Top 5 Hottest Dudes list), but good grief he is an asshole and I really want to see Lisa strike out on her own. She deserves so much better.
  6. Laura: "How do you two know each other?" Lisa: Through Alvey...he put babies in both of us" I do so love Lisa.
  7. Alvey shouldn't not get to have kids cause he's almost 50 or because he already has two grown sons, Alvey shouldn't have kids cause he's an asshole and will screw this one up too. Though I am glad that he and Christina are finally officially divorcing. Jay "in love" is certainly a sight to behold. Jay vs Ryan? Oh DEAR GOD this is going to get bad. Drama, drama everywhere. Though if this all leads to Lisa coming into her own as Jay's manager, I'm all for that. Well, crap. That was a shitty ending to Nate's first fight back.
  8. Episode Description: At first I was really not understanding why Nate and his girlfriend are together, as they seem to have pretty much nothing in common, other than both being young and attractive. But now that I think about it, Nate has to have someway to deny his attraction to guys (both to others and to himself) and she seems to have a bit of a martyr complex ("I'd get mad at you, but I won't 'cause I'm such a good girlfreind"). On the other hand, I'm quite liking Jay's new potential girlfreind, Laura. He does need someone who doesn't tolerate his shit. And goodness, that dress of hers. Not only did it obviously not have a bra, I'm pretty sure it obliterated any bra with ten feet of it. I'm not sure whats going on with Alvey's freind. There's something more than just reminiscing on his part, but I'm not sure what. That opening scene sure set off my second hand embarrassment squick. That's really not a good line of secondary work for Alvey.
  9. Jay annoyed the crap outta me at the start of last season but he grew on me (like a fungus) over the course of the season. Not that I could handle him for long in real life but he's certainly fun to watch. I hope he gets to prove what a good fighter he is, now that he's actually trying.
  10. Well, I'm glad to see that everyone is more screwed up than they were last season. I'm really not thrilled with Lisa being back with Alvey, but I can see her deciding that it was the best idea what with the pregnancy. I'm sure Ryan doing coke is NOT helping with his anger issues and Jay is just as unpredictable as ever. Nate didnt really have much to do this episode. I am happy to see a female fighter and I hope she gets a decent storyline that doesn't involve her hooking up with anyone.
  11. Variety has photos up for season 2: http://variety.com/gallery/kingdom-season-2-nick-jonas-frank-grillo-directv/
  12. Oooh, thats exciting. I was hoping form more women next season. I though they did a great job with Lisa and hopefully that will continue next season.
  13. I'm watching it, though I was a bit behind because of a wonky DVR and a vacation. I'm caught to this episode now, but I dunno, I'm just not all that moved by it. It's OK, but I'm a huge fan of the books and most of my thoughts about the episodes are about how they compare to the books, which is both spoilerific and somewhat unfair. I did like that Elena got to kill Malcom, but didn't like that she got kidnapped right after. Logan was an idiot was jumping into the Witchy FaceTime Conference. I know he's scared about his girlfriend, but come on, that kinda shit never works out well. Savannah seeing through Alistair's bullshit was also a nice choice (it could have been easy to make her the whiney teenager, who takes too long to see the error of her ways) but it seems she is outgunned at this point.
  14. I loved that when confronted by branded super-natural type people, Elena's first response is to call them hipsters, ha. I spent the whole time Logan was running around trying to find his girlfriend at the farmhouse to just SMELL for her. He's a werewolf, she's pregnant, if she's there, she should be really easy to sniff out. Also, I was glad to see that us US viewers actually got a nice shot of Clay's ass for once.
  15. I really liked how this episode showed how, with just a few tiny changes, Fisk could totally be seen as a traditional anti-hero. Tragic family history that still haunts him, trying to do what he thinks is best for his city, girlfreind and best freind/assitant who fully support him in his actions. Hell, if this episode was all we knew of him, I'd have a hard time saying that he's not a classic anti-hero. Vanessa certainly thinks he is. There's just the small point that he's willing to kill pretty much anyone to achieve his goals. I know that they don't have much (if any) carry over between the TV shows, but I'd really get a kick out of it if his speech was running somewhere in the background on one of the upcoming episodes of Agents of Shield.
  16. I, however, am totally excited by this news. But I really liked Dollhouse, so I'm probably very biased.
  17. I think that's kind of the problem of making Hood so badass. He's pretty much walked through everyone who's been put in front of him so far. The Albino, the MMA fighter, multiple mooks at the same time, etc. In order for Chayton to be a credible threat to Hood, he had to be practically invulnerable. I still think Chayton was the evil version of the Thunder Man that Alex thought he was last season. Burton and Carrie are pretty ridiculous on how much damage they can take, too.
  18. Actually, I think they portrayal of the Native Americans has been pretty well rounded. Sure, Chayton was pure evil, but he's also been the only person in the whole show to really give Hood a real challenge at just about anything. As for the other characters, Alex and Nola weren't great people, but their defining characteristics were ambition and badassery and I wouldn't consider either of them evil. And you have both Aimee and Billy solidly on Team Goodguy. I don't remeber much of Russell Means' character from season one other than he was the Chief and Alex and Nola's father, but I certainly don't remember there being anything bad about him. And it's not like Chayton was the only fucked up person on the show, Rabbit kidnapped his own grandson, Kai is sleeping with his niece and we just saw Bunker's own brother torture him with a blow torch. And don't forget rapist MMA guy from season one or The Albino.
  19. Seriously, what is it with them killing off people right after they had awesome scenes? First Nola in the episode after her great scene with Carrie at the diner and then Gordon after he kicks ass in rescuing everyone. I know it gives them a great send off, but I can't help but think of the wasted potential.
  20. Oh, they are definitely keeping him around. He may be stuck in a hospital for few episodes, but everything so far feels like set up for a major storyline next season.
  21. It's kinda hard not too, isn't it? Same era, same issues (mostly), though the Shelby's are definitly starting a lot lower than Nucky and his crew.
  22. Ugh, enough of this argument over whether or not a grown-ass woman is *allowed* to do what she wants. Yes, she's pregnant, and it wasn't the smartest of choices, but it should still be her choice to go raiding or not. And what was Bjorn gonna do to stop her? Tie her to a chair? Stand there and pout? I also don't see why Ragnar was pissed. He said it himself: "we fight, we die, this is what we do".
  23. That was Spartacus level graphic. I could help staring (and giggling) at the dangling eyeball.
  24. I think so, yes. All the other stuff could be attributed to psychedelic mushrooms or stress/guilt or even battle craziness with Ragnar's Odin-vision in the first episode. This is the first time that something is pretty unequivocally mystical.
  25. I know that the Siobhan appearances were to symbolize Hood's guilt and Chayton's infection, but I can't help but prefer the idea that she really is haunting them both, hopping back and forth depending on which one she's more pissed with at the moment. I was all prepared to get really annoyed when they started to set up the classic "add some humanity to the villian" storyline with the horse lady, and then Chayton goes and kills her and the nice neighbor guy anyway. It was a very nice "haha, fooled you" moment. I get that the theft was supposed to be the main story of the episode and all tense, but I gotta admit that I was completely bored by it and payed no attention to it at all. Ripping off the armored car at the begining of last season was far more fun.
