Did not get FJ. I have several cans of Canada Dry ginger ale in my fridge, too.

Since cutting back on caffeine ginger ale is about the only soft drink that I drink. There are two boxes! in my room right now. Still didn't get it. Though it is extremely difficult to see the 'map', it's in white, contained in a shield shape with Canada Dry written in red across it. Never knew it was even there.

I said Po and then changed my answer to Tiber.

My thought process went something like: Tiber! ..or maybe Po..but no the Po is more north isn't it? the Tiber is Rome..it is Rome right (checks the clue) yeah seems like Rome so Tiber!

I understand Kaleena saying that savory was more in their wheelhouse but dessert has often won/blown away the judges table.

Every team/contestant ever has said that savory is more in their wheelhouse. Not one has ever said their specialty is dessert. I laughed when she said that.

Yeah, I just figured he was trying to switch things up a bit

In Alex's time I would notice that he would have a phrase he used when the contestants were wrong but after a few months he'd start saying something else and then would use that one for a while and so on..

I worked at Sears (RIP) at the time,  in the automotive department.  Toys was right next to us. I remember the frenzy when they got a shipment of Cabbage Patch dolls.

I did not join the frenzy, my MIL found dolls for the girls.

I did think next of Tickle Me Elmo,

My middle daughter was a child for the Cabbage Patch dolls but was in High School for Tickle Me Elmo. Which I would probably not remember except that one of her friends bought her one. I was confused as she was older.

  6. FJ was an instaget, I have 3 daughters who were the right age at the time.

Shouted out Polkas as soon as I saw the clue, I'm half Polish and one of my earliest memories is my being a flower girl at my aunt's wedding and dancing to Polkas all night.

Also got the Basques, A Midsummer Night's Dream Weaver, Galvani and L.A. Law (a show I've never watched, but have seen the pic of the plate)

So all season they've stretched 60 minute episodes to fit a 90 minute slot,

It looked like we saw a lot of cameramen this season, there was definitely one in the water when the first two teams jumped in and I was thinking maybe because they were editing 60 min eps into 90 mins they ended up using clips that had the camera people in whereas before they'd be edited out.

Cesar helped Melissa with everything (I think) except the spiral which is the only one she got wrong after he left. She then went on to -fix- everything but that one, at least for a while. And she is the one that made note of of how the spiral should be. I'm not blaming Cesar for that at all.

I wanted Vinnie and Amber gone so much! especially when he was telling her to fix her shoelace.

I don't know if y'all have seen this, but it's interesting. Chef Victoria Blamey, a former boss of Danny's from the restaurant Mena, is claiming he stole one of her recipes for his recent Elimination Challenge win:

Shouldn't this post be in the Chaos thread? It doesn't really have anything to do with the Sausage Race. Or the Top Chef in the Media thread?

I could swear he's repeated a particular tie because I love it and look for it and have seen it (or thought I did) a few times. It's purple with a pattern on it. I don't know why I like it, but it really catches my eye.

She used to keep track of Ken's ties and put up a collage of a month's worth. He does repeat ties, which she used to note and also makes note if he wears a new one. I say 'used' because since the takeover my TL over there is very hit or miss on the people I follow plus a lot left for other pastures.

Speaking of odd glitches on SM, does anyone else have a hit or miss here with notifications? I used to get them almost simultaneously but now a few trickle in during the day then I'm slammed with 20 or more in the evenings all at once. Very strange.

I guess we are officially done with being afraid of covid. Savanah/Laura (I can't tell them apart) testing one of the booze bottles by mouth, and Kevin double dipping in the blender....

It was Laura because I said to my daughter What the Hell is she doing NOW! I mean who does that? did she take that bottle? did she put it back? did everyone -taste- their booze that way? Yuck.

Just a thought, I hope we see Missy again.

I thought they had an interesting dynamic. Todd was in the episode with the horses and dogs too, I think. The one that was ticking at my brain was the old codger with the dog, and when I watched the ep there was no info up yet on IMDb, but I thought he had been in the same ep (with the horses and dogs- and tortoise!) so I looked that one up and yep! he was in it.

Can’t deal with Amy’s lack of enthusiasm, her vocal fry, her completely flat affect.

To me it seems like she's trying to talk without moving her mouth?

I did get FJ but I was so unsure of myself.

I was surprised that Rod, Danny, and Vinny all did the roadblock this episode. It didn't seem like the welding task was physically taxing, nor did it seem like the people who had done it before had a massive advantage over the ones who hadn't.

I was surprised at this also, I guess Danny and Vinny must've thought they could do it faster since they'd done it before but really the women should've done this one if they're worried about physical tasks. I'm not sure what info they were given before choosing? maybe they thought it would be something else? Did they have a helmet for everyone or did they slap the name sticker on it after the person was chosen?

I'm confused...why do some of them run to the finish line with their backpacks and others don't?

I would prefer to sprint without a backpack.

I was wondering the same thing.  I thought you had to have everything with you at the mat.  The only time I remember teams dropping backpacks is on the sprint to the last mat.  I could easily be wrong on this.

I've read somewhere, not sure at this point where as I've been re-watching all the seasons and reading different threads/articles in different places, that the teams can drop their packs as soon as they can see Phil. I think, if so, this was instituted after the infamous J/V event when he dropped his pack on the street and V picked it up because she thought it would be stolen, this is what led to the 'incident'. Also, there isn't always a 'sprint' to the mat, most of the time there is not so why not just wear your packs so you don't have to go back for them. If it is a sprint and you want to drop them you have to do it fast. Some people look like they can just eel out of it no problem, but sometimes it's a bit harder and it might be better to just wear it. People drop their packs all the time, in the 'competitors' season 30, there was a sprint to the mat where the last team would be eliminated in the first leg, I think all but one dropped their packs and guess who was last on the mat.

I think I didn't give any spoilers? If I did let me know and I'll tag them. Here is a link of that sprint: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIIrkG404kU

This was clearly a set up to see how they worked as a team with the budget. Kristin specifically asked the question so they knew it would be an issue. Everyone knows Whole Foods is outrageously expensive.

I think it could be something like what happens on Amazing Race, the crews with the racers will radio/phone Phil with anything 'interesting' that happens on the course so he can ask about it at the mat. The crews with the chef's probably keep in touch with someone who tells Kristen and the judges 'interesting' things that happen while shopping/cooking/traveling etc. specifically so it can be asked about at the meal/judges table.

In my world, Harley Quinn is a mysterious detective created by Agatha Christie.

In my world too.  I only know of the current Harley Quinn by cultural osmosis.

Add me too! I knew Harley Quinn from my grandkids and Harlequin and his diamond patterned costume from Agatha Christie. Also got Twelfth Night, and the missed DD of Gila. Not such a great game for me.

I think I first heard of manuka generally because it was on an offer in the Target app and I was curious.

I have a vague idea that it was mentioned in a Brokenwood Mysteries episode 🤔

I should probably try it. I absolutely loved Endeavour. I started watching episode 1 of Morse and had trouble connecting him to Endeavour. I should give it more time I guess.

My opinion based on the first two is that trying to connect it to Endeavour will be in vain. (Except for the Oxford scenery.) I enjoyed these episodes on their own terms, though.

I agree. I haven't watched the last season of Endeavour but I would say other than getting a bit of explanations for his love of opera, his car, his house and his attitude toward the Masons, they are completely different series in characterizations, plots and atmosphere. Both good in their way but, I feel, mainly disconnected.

How did nobody get Beetlejuice ?

I do have to say though, I thought the clue was kind of clunky, I had started trying to unweave it when I realized I didn't really have to, Geena Davis + Alec Baldwin = Beetlejuice. Didn't really need the part about Netflix or 'spirited' or even 'deceased'.
