Married At First Sight: The First Year
HumblePi replied to Primetimer's topic in Married At First Sight
I find myself being envious of Monique more and more. It's great to see her so happy being single and in the dating game again. I see the same thing. I see Jamie as forced and fake. Knowing that she's been a reality show participate in the past makes me even more wary of her motives. Plus, I'm a little bored with her caterpillar sized eyelashes. I think that Jason and Cortney are doing alright, but things have been relatively smooth for Cortney so far. Now she's married to a NY Fireman that will have to work swing shifts and holidays. Let's see how well she handles it when he has to work Easter or Christmas or New Year's Eve. Jason having to work on Thanksgiving sent her into a self-pity party. -
Hi Copacabana from snowy Ct. Now that I've been corrected and know we haven't seen the episode of the confrontation between Lisa R and Kim, I feel better and now I'm looking forward to it. I'm a little tired of Kim and even more-so when she tries to act like the cute little kid from Witch Mountain. Cute works for some women well into their 20's but past that age it just starts to look sort of pathetic.

I must have been hiding under a rock somewhere and missed the episode where Kim Richards accused Lisa's husband Harry Hamlin of cheating on her. Wow and I mean WOW! So I missed this explosiveness last November when Lisa flipped out and wanted to physically attack Kim. But now I kind of 'get' why Lisa Rinna is determined to have Kim certified as a drug and alcohol abuse. But there is the fact too that Harry's two brothers died from alcoholism within months of each other. So, she might be genuinely trying to get Kim the help she needs. Nah. http://allthingsrh.com/harry-hamlin-cheating-allegations-caused-lisa-rinna-explode-kim-richards/

God help me, I feel a little '50 Shades of Grayish' whenever I watch Eileen do the in front of camera solo narrative of a scene wearing that olive colored lace top. Her boobs look absolutely amazing and I'm so jealous because they look that great. Am I going to Hell because I want to touch those? Geeze, I think I could turn gay for those. LOL!

Fentanyl/Duragesic is a powerful synthetic opiate analgesic similar to but more potent than morphine. It is typically used to treat patients with severe pain, such as end stage cancer pain. Monty would have had these prescribed to control his pain.

I had a quick thought for a new series starring Max Todd as I watched as Max discovered that he's half Scottish and half Irish. The thought occurred to me that maybe Lisa and Ken adopted Max from the Magdalene Sisters in Ireland. Of course I had just watched the movie Philomena which may have influenced my imagination. Max was born in 1992 and the last of the Magdalene laundries closed in 1996. Lisa and Ken were very well prepare financially to pay the Magdalene's a substantial adoption fee in order to get a "pure" bloodline of Irish/Scottish. A lot of these children were adopted to wealthy people, most notably Jane Russel in the 1950's. Come on Bravo, don't make me do all the work for you. Max was six weeks old when Lisa and Ken adopted him from a foster home.

Brandi's prayer: "Dear Lord, please let Kyle Richards move to Colorado, and never come back". Then later, "After thinking about it, Colorado may be too close. Maybe West Africa, in that city where Ebola started." Okay Brandi, we get it, you're over-the-top-crazy and you think you're being outrageous or 'cute-ish' or something and it just isn't cute or funny to wish a horrible death on anyone. You're just not funny, period. You just look more and more trashy and emotionally stunted. I never had any feelings either way about Eddie Cibrian but now I almost feel sorry for him having been stuck with Brandi for eight years. She's still trying to create trouble between Eddie and Lee Ann. She's a man's living nightmare that doesn't go away. Brandi isn't able to move forward with her life. She's a bitter woman scorned and we all know the saying about Hell having no fury like her. Brandi has nothing, absolutely nothing to fall back on. If she didn't have any role to play in Housewives, what would she do? She's too old to model. She can make appearances on shows like Watch What's Happening Live, or some daytime talk show. But people will forget who she is once she's gone from Housewives, then she'll have nothing marketable. She has no talent, her looks are fading with age and she's nasty to the core. We have enough of that in our lives and don't need to watch that on TV too. I have to draw a line when it comes to women being spiteful and deliberately trying to hurt someone with words and actually wishing they die a horrible death. It doesn't matter if Brandi says "oh, I was only kidding!", as she usually does. Wishing something like Ebola on another human isn't funny and never will be funny. I have a footnote for Bravo. When your viewers are DVR-ing these episodes and have the ability to fast forward over the portions of the show that are boring or that we're just sick of seeing over and over again, and the overall viewing time winds up being less that 10 minutes of actual watchable material, then you need to take a step back and really consider making some deep cuts in the cast and work on finding their replacements. I'd actually like to watch the entire 60 minutes of a one-hour episode but I DVR it and wind up fast forwarding through Brandi, Kim, Yolanda and most of Kyle's cry-facing. Brandi's antics are old stuff already. We've seen and heard it all from her. It's not only getting old, it's getting downright annoying. She should really try to find a better way to make a living besides being a nasty woman, then she's going to end up on the streets in West Hollywood turning tricks. Like others here, I've had it with both Kim and Brandi. I wish Bravo would bid adieu to both of them and inject some new blood into the Beverly Hills housewives with a couple of new characters. I'd nominate Fay Resnick and Denise Richards to start with. There's sufficient juicy pasts between the two of them to give us entertainment for years.

Married At First Sight: The First Year

I was shocked at Cortney's reaction to Jason having to work Thanksgiving. I expected her to act like the understanding, perfect wife when Jason explained (a few times) why he had to work a holiday. I really thought she would say "it's fine Jason, We'll have our Thanksgiving the next day together with family when you're not working! It will be just as much fun having the almost-holiday together!" She said she understands but she really doesn't. All Cortney understands is that Jason won't be there Thanksgiving day for HER. She's thinking of herself of course, not Jason. I'm a nurse so I've had to give up hundreds of Thanksgivings, Easters, Christmas, New Year's Days, Mothers Days, Fathers Days, birthdays etc. etc. for years. I worked night shifts and when my kids were small I'd get home at 7:30 in the morning and stay up the whole day and prepare holiday meals for the family then I'd grab a 2 hour nap (if I was lucky) after everyone left and the kids were in bed, then got up to be back at work by 11:00. And you know what? It never dawned on me to moan and complain about it because that's what real life is. There are jobs that require someone on duty 24 hours a day and if you don't like that arrangement then you shouldn't marry a fireman, a nurse, a doctor, a policeman, or anyone else that has a job that requires someone there 24 hours a day. Cortney seems to have the notion that being a 'good wife' is pretty simple as long as it doesn't put her own plans in jeopardy. I have a news flash for Cortney. Get used to this type of schedule, you're married to a fireman and they are required to work swing shifts AND holidays. -
I have the distinct feeling that it's not so much resentment that Kim has towards Kyle but actual fear. Kim can't fool Kyle like she can fool others. At this point, if Kim accepts Kyles help, that would mean that she would have to be willing to follow through with what's best for her, getting help and staying sober. Kim really doesn't want that at all, she wants what she has and what she is. She doesn't want to change for Kyle or her own children or for herself. I think that's why she continually pushes Kyle away and why she keeps Brandi close, because Brandi is an enabler.
-
There's so many 'DDs' (diva-dynamics) at work here, and of course Bravo is the catalyst for all the dynamics. Bravo is the stimulus that motivates these women. Kim, Kyle, Brandi and Lisa V are all players in this game and each of them needs the spotlight and attention, even if it's negative attention. Kim deflects to protect herself. She doesn't want to be 'called out' on National television as being an addict. So she projects whenever she feels that her addiction(s) are close to being disclosed. She'll deflect accusations back to Kyle. "It's you that did that, etc". In the real world, Brandi wouldn't be a fake friend to Kim just for camera time and Kim wouldn't have Brandi as her enabler. If Brandi didn't have Bravo and the Housewives show, what would she do? She's too old to go back to modeling and I doubt she has any real talent. That would leave Kyle alone to deal with Kim. And by the way, where are Kim's adult, grown-up children? Aren't they concerned about their mother? Aren't they what should be there for her, supporting her or confronting her if she's fallen off the wagon of sobriety? Sometime, the quest for fame and notoriety is a double-edged sword. On one hand yes, they get the attention, the big paychecks and the exposure on National television that they're so thirsty for. But at what cost? If, in the end. it costs them their own dignity, reputation and respect then they may wonder if it was worth it all for their 15 minutes of fame.

Wow, I watched a portion of Mob Wives for the very first time a few minutes ago. I had seen the advertisements for it many times but didn't think it would be a reality show that I could relate to in any way. I was right, I can't. First and last impression....

I really hate saying it this way because it sounds ghetto, but if Brandi or anyone else tried to interfere with my attempts at going to the side of one of my sisters in trouble, She wouldn't have been merely scratched with my jewelry, the hospital would be adding some new jewelry to her broken jaw.

I did get a good laugh (again) watching snippets of 'the fight in the driveway' scene and laughed even more this time seeing Vince peeping through the garage door. He looked like a guy that was smart enough not to get in the middle of a cat fight. And his comment to Eileen inside, "why can't they just get along" just made me roll laughing. All Hail Peeping Vince!

This is becoming so ridiculous with Kim that I'm starting to really dislike her intensely. Kim always seemed to be silly before and made me laugh at her facial gestures but now she's looking just totally stupid. Sometime the look on her face and in her eyes almost looks like she has suffered some permanent brain damage. Kim and Bravo expect us to buy this story about the reason for her hospitalization? Really, "a hernia and a cracked and fractured rib" ? Does Kim and Bravo think we'd really swallow that? I have a kazillion questions. What kind of hernia was it that could possibly cause a "cracked and fractured" rib? Was it a hiatal, inguinal, umbilical, incisional or what? Was the hernia repaired by surgery? If you was in so much PAIN as she said over and over, and her dying ex-husband Monty was there in her home being taken care of by her, then why didn't she just cancel the poker lesson? Kim is an experienced substance abuser and knows very well what she took and what the effect of mixing it with alcohol would do. If any of this is real and Kim and Kyle are really in disagreement as far as Brandi goes, then Kyle needs to draw a line in the sand with Kim. Either Kim relinquishes her attachment to the evil force Brandi, or Kyle does what's best for Kyle which is to remove herself entirely from Kim and let Kim go run free with her 'sister-friend' Brandi. Let's sit and watch as Kim follows Brandi spiraling right down the big drain. One last thing, I think the 'tops and bottoms' thing about the gay friends has been over-killed. We get it, they get it, everyone gets it. Do they think it makes us all feel better knowing exactly what the terms 'tops and bottoms' means? It's not morse code, we figured it out Bravo, let it go now. Thank you.
-
Oh Please Bravo, Please, I'm begging you. Don't yank our chains this way and 'pretend fire' Kristen only to have her tearful face haunting us anymore. That would be so cruel if you did that as a joke for your viewers. Please, keep Kristin off the show forever and send her back to the farm or wherever she was bred. Katie did look very pretty in the clubhouse and Tom....well! I was shocked at first thinking he was actually wearing a Hitler wig as a joke. And the dress black shoes with no socks? Ewww, just ewww. Katie looks hot enough to find a great looking mature-ish man that doesn't look like a desheveled broken down little lost boy from Oakland.

Married At First Sight: The First Year

I have followed this series sporadically and happened to catch this 'Baby Fever' episode. I am a little disbelieving of the fact that when producers and therapists were sorting through possible candidates for this show, that there wasn't anything for each applicant to provide a more in-depth on their own personal opinion of having children, such as; "do you want children?" "how soon would you like to have children?" "how many children do you want to have?". I can't help but feel that the dilemma between Doug and Jamie is, for the main part, contrived for the benefit of some drama for the series. If Jamie has had a dysfunctional family life as a child and it's still affecting her emotionally as an adult, then she should have spent a few years in therapy to get over those issues and not wait until she marries a man sight unseen and loads them all up on him. Jason and Cortney used to be the 'darling couple' of the three. Aw..... they were both so cute, and all moonie-eyed at each other that it melted our hearts. Marriage reality hits finally and we see Jason as immature and not all that attractive. The chin turns me off but it's his big forced laugh that just killed it for any appeal he might have had. Cortney has been the greatest disappointment for me of any of them. She looked like a perfect little blonde doll at the wedding. Her personality sparkles, her eye makeup is amazing and her teeth are incredible. She loves the camera and the camera loves her, she expresses herself articulately. BUT, here's the big 'but'....but in the episode 'Baby Fever', I started seeing Cortney as more of a whining selfish girl than the all giving generous wife as she acted to the cameras that she was. When I see her moping around the messy apartment complaining that Jason is always to busy with 'the academy' and can't give her the time she wants, I only see a selfish person. Speaking of mess, that disaster zone they call their apartment is all her fault. I see Jason come home from a hard day to find Cortney sitting around doing nothing. She was fired from her job and it doesn't look like she's out there pounding the pavement looking for another one to help support them both. If she's home sulking all day then why not straighten up that awful mess. I realize they don't have furniture to put it in, but at least sort through it, make piles of clothes they don't wear anymore and run them down to the Goodwill store and donate the stuff. She could at least fold the rest neatly or hang it on a hanger and string a rope across the wall to hang them. It just goes against my grain to see such a big pile of mess and a lazy diva housewife crying about loneliness and lack of money. Monet is the only smart one to call off a marriage with a guy that's a big momma's boy and I think might even be gay. He's surely not what a real man acts like. Monet is as cute as cute can get. She's sharp as a tack and her personality sparkles. I hope she finds an amazing guy that appreciates her need to be an amazing woman to him. -
Kim Richards: No Escape from Witch Mountain

I also find this to be a very curious and even unnatural friendship. Brandi is an alcoholic and I don't think Brandi is the best influence for Kim since she's supposedly a 'recovering alcoholic' and trying to remain sober. Is Brandi putting Kim's best interest at heart, or is she hoping that Kim will slip with her sobriety and make Brandi herself not feel so guilty for being the sole alcoholic of the group? -

I became a fan of Eileen Davidson in the episode preceding the "Kim is nuts" poker lessons episode. You know, the one where Yolanda was learning that 'cunnilungus' isn't something to dip a bread stick in at a cocktail party. Eileen had a couple of comments that became gifs but the one that didn't was when she said "blah blah blah cunnilingus!" But think about it. If Lisa Vanderpump, Kyle, Eileen and Lisa Renna all decide to stick together and ignore and shun Brandi Glanville and crazy-nuts Kim then where would all our viewing fun come from? Certainly not from Yolanda, to me she's doesn't have anything more to add to this show than her constant bragging about her amazing model daughters. And Kyle might come to her senses one of these days and figure out that Kim may just have to be written off her bucket list of people to rescue. I'm starting to think of analogies here with their relationship. Two people in a leaky raft out in the ocean comes to mind. One person wants to cling to the raft and may possibly die in the raft, the other tries to tug and pull them out of the raft and swim to the island but that person just holds onto the sinking raft stronger and refuses to leave. Do they both stay there gradually sinking deeper into the water, or does the one decide to abandon the raft, let her drown and try to swim to the safety of the island? One final comment about this episode, (I promise). It was presented in a very vague manner as to the cause of Kim's hospitalization. I think Kim said something to Mauricio about 'bleeding ulcer'. It may be a bad reaction to pain pills, nobody knows yet. But I do know that too many prescription AND non-prescription analgesics can cause gastric and duodenal ulcers and bleeding. -

I can't even imagine having more money than I'll ever need in my life. After all the lavish trips are made to the world's most exotic places, after buying more jewelry that your could ever remember, after buying the most expensive homes and furnishings, after buying designer dresses and shoes, what's left to buy? There are endless possibilities to spending cash forever. Having a closet that's larger than the living rooms of most people is like a hobby for Lisa. One comforting thing I did notice in Lisa V's bathroom was a neat collection of little brown pharmacy bottles with white caps. "Okay!", I thought. I have SOMETHING in common with Lisa Vanderpump, we both take prescription drugs for hypertension, cholesterol or GERD or whatever. Boiling down to the very most basic thing everyone has in common is that we're all only human, even those rich housewives. -

It's clear that no matter how heinous the action, Brandi feels that an apology, whether it's really heartfelt or not, will instantly erase any harm she's done or pain she caused. Lisa V is the smart one here by disassociating as much as she can from Brandi. Brandi has said it herself a few times calling herself 'white trash'. That's a self-defense mechanism to beat someone else to the punch. I think she feels she justifies her horrible behavior if she calls herself trash as if to say "well yeah, I told you I was trash so what do you expect?" Brandi's friend Jennifer who is supposed to be an 'addiction specialist' doesn't really seem to be very good at her profession. She is also in love with being on camera and she's really getting more bizarre looking with each appearance she has on this show. Her face used to be scary enough to stop a bus, but now it's scary enough to stop a fully loaded 16 car diesel powered train. I've already added passive-aggressive personality disorder to the growing list of personality disorders that Brandi owns. https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/communication-success/201401/how-spot-and-deal-passive-aggressive-people -

I had to re-watch the scene when they're all in the driveway and Kyle is finally leaving. Brandi is standing with her long arm around Kim's neck, holding her 'protectively' like a fierce mother chimpanzee, that's messed up. Kim's shoes are off so next to Brandi, she looks like an 8 year old child. Brandi looks like she's holding a bronze statuette from some crazy Hollywood awards show. That was the part that made me laugh out loud (really). But when Kim garble-speaks "I know I should ride with her, but I love you and I love her". This was so much more messed up. Brandi is putting Kim on display as if to say "hey people, you think I'm messed up, look at this little mess right here!". These women are all drama queens, no doubt about that. When Brandi says "I'm want to go home with my baby and my son" I thought okay, Brandi has some deeper issues from childhood that have scarred her for life. She needs more than rehab for alcohol and drug addiction, she needs a therapist to help her work out all the issues she may have had with her father. -

For me, the defining moment of this Kim-meltdown episode took place in the car. Kim tells Lisa that she's 'ornery' because Monty hasn't been around. Lisa says "well he's in pain, he's dying" to which Kim says "so am I" So there you go, self-pity in a nutshell. Kim thinks she's in as much pain as Monty who is dying of cancer. http://youtu.be/9qLkEHwmkhw?t=26m46s -

Here's some information about Kim Richards and Monty Brinson from the WetPaint website. G. Monty Brinson is an actor and writer, known for Escape (1989). He was previously married to Terri Lynn Doss and Kim Richards. "In July of 1985, Kim married the heir to a supermarket franchise, G. Monty Brinson, who is now a professional poker player. Seven months later, in February 1986, Kim gave birth to daughter Brooke. The couple started a production company, Richards-Brinson, and worked on the 1990 movie Escape together, which, despite its misleading title, is not related to the more successful Escape to Witch Mountain franchise. Kim’s sister Kyle also had a role in the forgettable film. Although divorced, Kim and Monty shared custody of Brooke and have remained friends. Gregg Davis, son of oil tycoon and Dynasty inspiration Marvin Davis, was Kim’s second husband. The two were married for only a short time, and Gregg is the father of daughter Whitney and son Chad. It was interference from Gregg’s parents that drove Kim and the scion apart: Marvin and his wife continually threatened to cut the couple off if they moved out of town. Unlike the amicable split between Kim and Monty, her second divorce was much messier, full of custody and alimony battles. In 1991, tragedy struck when Kim’s fiance, commodities salesman John J. Collett, was murdered by a hit man in a business deal gone bad. The ordeal had a deep impact on Kim, but she eventually moved on. She gave birth to her fourth child Kimberly — whose father is an ex-boyfriend, aircraft-parts supplier John Jackson — in 1995. With so much heartache in her past, it’s easy to see why Kim is hesitant to get involved with more romance. In Season 2 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kim did get involved with Ken Blumenfeld, a man she said she met at her mailbox. Following Kim's stint in rehab in late 2011/early 2012, the two have since broken up. Monty is not currently married. -

Kim sort of 'outed' herself telling Kim that Monty gave her a pill because she had just told Lisa in the limo that he hasn't been around in days.
