  1. There was some discussion in the episode thread about who would be eliminated next and maybe it's appropriate for here? I would assume that, if she ends up in the bottom 2 again, Pearl will probably sashay. I'm certain that Kennedy, Ginger, or Katya could take a few ambien and still out-perform her. I've never seen Violet lip sync, but by virtue of the fact that she hasn't yet and Pearl has twice, and Pearl seems to be a one-trick pony, Violet will probably win. Also, the sneak peak shows that next week's main challenge is
  2. Once again Trixie is eliminated when she does the better lip sync. Boo. But I'm glad Katya is still in. I shouted when she and Violet was announced as the winner.
  3. You know, my problem with "Straight Up" is that Carmen is a terrible lip syncer (hello, she LSFYL three times and never sent anyone home). Raja exceeds expectations by not just going on look, but Carmen walks around the stage for most of it before Raja finally goads her into doing something. Also, from All Stars, Latrice + Tammie "There's No Business Like Show Business" was amazing. On first viewing I was disappointed with Raven + Juju "Dancing on My Own," but when I rewatched it and realized how personal it was for them yet perfectly tailored to the song, and when I saw how visibly upset Ru was, then I loved it. It gives me the chills now.
  4. Given the lackluster lip syncs this season, let's relive the good old days, when the lip syncs were queen! I think Dida, Latrice, Coco, Darienne, and Trinity have a pretty tight grip on the best LSFYL competitors, although Jujubee and Alyssa are honorable mentions. "This Will Be," "...A Natural Woman," "Whip My Hair," I can watch on repeat. One of my favorite things in a lip sync is when one person nails it and they're brilliance is highlighted by someone next to them acting a fool: for example, Latrice's soulful Natural Woman while pregnant Kenya jumped around on stage, or Jujubee's angsty Black Velvet next to Sahara's pirouettes. I also like when someone takes the air out of what their competition is going to do: Joslyn falling into a split when she could see Laganja was preparing for one, or Raja doing naked before Carmen could get a chance. What are everyone else's favorites? Over-rated or under-rated performances? What song would you lip sync to?
  5. Ginger's performance + the hilarity of a grown man dressed as a woman dressed as a baby singing about eggs just killed me this episode. I laughed every time baby Ginger was on screen.
  6. I think Pearl could do that if he were a good actor, but unfortunately, he's not. In the acting challenges is where I see the most "I'm too punk rock for RuPaul's Drag Race" attitude from Pearl, acting like she's too cool to commit.
  7. Violet really impressed me with her Alyssa. She had some lost opportunities (I didn't hear her make use of good Alyssa catch phrases like yes GAWD and bitch, sit yo ass down and shut the hell up, bitch), but she really had a few good things. I laughed out loud when she guffawed at her own joke, and clapped along when she gave incredulous looks about totally benign things. I didn't like this queen at first but she's getting better and better.
  8. I, um...wow, did Bianca del Rio actually say that? That's incredibly offensive and not at all accurate. I agree with your latter point, that it feels like what was once a fringe part of gay culture is being overrun by the same kind of people who like to throw bachelorette parties in gay bars. Really everything after the BDR quote is spot-on to me. But I don't understand what that has to do with 12 year-olds in huts in Guatemala. Are they crashing gay bars, too? Or are they the majority viewership of this show?
  9. I liked this episode a lot. The return of Merle was a fun gag, and I think the skits were generally entertaining. I disagree with a few major points in the judging. I actually thought Jaidynn's performance as RuPaul turned out hilarious (I turned to my bf and said "I don't know why she just did any of that but I'm in love with it), but I agree that her runway was the worst. I also thought Kandy wasn't half bad as Ru. The one I thought was by far the worst in the skits was Miss Fame, who didn't seem to be referencing Merle at all, and also wasn't believable as a human being. I actually thought Kandy did a better lip sync. She was really feeling and representing the song. Jaidynn was high energy and entertaining, but not in a way that I thought went with the song. It was certainly the best duo of the season (although that's a low bar) and I'm certainly not sad about Kandy leaving or Jaidynn staying. I just don't agree with the logic. I hope this is the start of a redemption arc for the show. With this and the Snatch Game next week, I'm hoping they'll pull out of the tailspin. Oh also, does Pearl only know how to do makeup in one very specific, ugly way?
  10. But I felt like Pearl's position was unreasonable. Ru said that Pearl didn't have a large personality (and really, who can argue with that?) and Pearl claimed that Ru said she had no personality. Not the same at all. Pearl was asking to be coddled and Ru just wasn't there for that. I felt like Pearl came off very childish.
  11. Yeah, I just thought the Internet thing was funny because it was kind of a duh, you old person type thing. It reminded me of when people used to say "It's the 90s, girlfriend!"
  12. There must be something wrong with me, because I just do not get Miss Fame. The chicken thing was cute but it doesn't make her a better drag queen. She's humorless and despite her non-stop talking, she seems to be a charisma void. She also seems to be very dim, and the "I'm just so lost in my head!" thing seemed to be something she heard intelligent but quiet people say, so she copied it. I'm sorry to go at her so hard, because she seems like a nice enough person. I just don't understand what I'm supposed to like about her. The one I actually liked a lot more this episode was Violet. Her Internet line was great, and shows she's not afraid to be a little disrespectful in the name of sass, which is a core drag principle in my book. I also loved that, despite the fact that she seemed to be the butt of the harshest jokes, she also laughed the hardest at them. It showed that she doesn't take herself too seriously, and I love a girl who can take it as good as she can give it. Speaking of taking herself too seriously, I'm not feeling Pearl at all, and I hate that she's feeding into the generational stereotype of needing constant praise. I worry that her suspiciously pointless story arc thus far is only a hint at what shenanigans are to come. The only hope is that Ru doesn't seem to like her. Ginger is the only one that has been consistent. Ginger and Katya are the only two that I really like. I'm not usually one to say this, but I worry that this season might turn out to be a dud all around.
  13. If you go to https://www.youtube.com/user/WOWPresents the latest episode of Untucked autoplays.
  14. I'm upset, but not THAT upset, that Trixie went home. I thought she had plenty more to give and I don't think she deserved to be in the bottom, but I do agree that there were plenty of moments in her video that she neglected to take advantage of. And the upside of her going home is at least it will give other people a chance to talk during Untucked. This season has been all Trixie and Kennedy, and I'd like to hear from others, please. I loved Pearl's look this week but I'm not very interested in her. I don't care that he's kind of attractive as a man, because I can find more attractive men anywhere. Just like I don't care that Kandy Who's look is to just do beautiful, because I can find more beautiful women on Instagram. I'm glad Katya's star is rising. I really like her, I find her talking heads and her youtube videos to be hilarious, and she's actually gorgeous, she just doesn't treat it as the only thing she does. Speaking of, I'm not sure why Miss Fame is still here. She basically occupies the same space as Violet and Pearl. But Violet has carved out a nice niche for herself as the Villain, and Peal is now the One with the Story Line. So what the hell is Miss Fame (other than clearly the dumbest of those three, which is saying quite a bit, I think)? I am positively uninspired by Kennedy. She really did turn it out this episode (I won't argue that she deserved to win or was the funniest this week, but her voice was good and comedic), but I've never got her, and after hearing that her thing was lipsyncing and then watching her yawn-worthy lsfyl last week, I don't know what her point is, either. Speaking of the lip syncs, what was once my favorite feature of the show is now my least favorite. Honestly the best thing that has happened in four episodes is Katya doing a slow split, which was cool, but not that cool. Otherwise it's been four songs I don't know and eight performances I don't care for. When I compare these to the amazing things that Latrice, Dida, Trinity, Coco, Jujubee, and Alyssa have done to keep themselves in this competition, I'm really bored by what we've seen so far. I'm ready for a song I know and I performance I'll watch on youtube over and over again.
  15. Willam saying he was "banned" from performing sounds like just an edgy way of saying "they don't want me." Of course, I say that as one of the few Willam haters around these parts.
  16. She has the rare ability to be totally irreverent and yet still relatable, vulnerable while also appearing completely put together. I'm pulling for her. Also, interesting that she doesn't appear to have aligned with either of the cliques yet.
  17. Probably the repercussions are Tyra never talks to you again and forgets you exist, which is what happens to most of the people who leave this show, anyway.
  18. I'm shocked that Katya was in the bottom 2 and Miss Fame wasn't, both because I thought Katya outperformed Miss Fame, and also because I felt like the editing spent so much time highlighting Miss Fame that I was sure she was going. I was worried that Katya might be in for a shocker elimination, but as soon as I saw that slow-split I knew she was safe. That was amazing! Ginger and Kasha to me were the clear top two. I was okay with either winning, and I like both of them now, but I think I have a slight preference for Ginger. Lots of the girls made some kind of impression tonight (each of the members of Aryan Airlines managed to stand out in some way, despite being clones of one another), but I completely forgot about Kennedy Davenport until she walked out onto the runway. She can't be long for this, can she? Also Kandy Ho was barely in the episode at all, and when she was I was ready for her to talk about being a homeless lesbian, because as a boy she is a dead ringer for Kayla from America's Next Top Model.
  19. I read once, maybe on the TWOP forums, that they have witty people saying quips into their ears, like a sitcom date. I'm inclined to believe that some of the comments are fed to them, and others are off-the-cuff.
  20. That reminds me that Ross Matthews is trying waaaay too hard. He made a comment about every runway look and everyone else's comments! I'd take Michelle's retreads over his pointless comments (I love their cheesy biscuits!).
  21. I liked the stripped-down version of Untucked--it gives me hope that they won't do too many heart-string gimmicks. I think Untucked is always a little weird at the beginning of the season because you have to jam 14 queens worth of footage into 22 minutes. Hopefully it'll be good when there are fewer queens left. As for Max's crutches, I thought it was kind of boring. There didn't seem to be a connection to anything. It would be edgy and interesting if the challenge had been to show off your best body part, or something like that, but as it was, it was just a gimmick for gimmick's same. I also thought it wasn't very edgy because it seemed ripped from Lady Gaga in Paparazzi. Poor Tempest. She seemed sweet but I was worried as soon as I saw that Magnolia Crawford nose.
  22. Thanks! I'm excited to see the whole dang thing. I think this is going to be a good season.
  23. The first 30 minutes of the first episode are posted on the show's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/rupaulsdragrace?v=app_161033847281768&rest=1 I have a lot to say about it but I can't figure out if there's a spoiler function on this board so I'll just have to hold my tongue.
  24. I opened up a bunch of tabs from this thread, and I went to one of them and it appeared to be a picture of Cassie, from the Third Epoch of Ancient Top Model times! I scrolled down some more and it turned out to be Erin in that Liz Minelli work. The other shots look good, but that first one is very unfortunate, especially for someone as fierce as Erin.
