  1. The cops in this universe seem to be highly responsive. Daredevil listens to police communications. It's assumed in one of the early fights that when Daredevil is taking down a bunch of bad guys and the one tells him that he's out on parole, let him go, that the cops are on their way there. Also in nearly every fight scene the cops show up fast enough that Daredevil can talk to his one police contact he trusts. Also Claire complains that their ER is filled with thugs who got beat up by Daredevil or nearly killed by The Punisher. So when Daredevil comes for you, the cops are usually on their way as well. I adore her in this role! Luckily the shows cross over and merge. She could just as easily be on Jessica Jones again like she was last season or even Luke Cage (and eventually Iron Fist.) She, Jessica and Luke all know one another and if they ever need medical attention they know they can count on her since without her quick thinking, Luke would have been dead. The same rule also applies to Foggy now. Working at Jeryn Hogarth's law firm means he now can easily cross paths with Jessica Jones who also still works for them even after the events of S1 of Jessica Jones. Plus they mentioned they were putting him in a role where he'd represent heroes in court. As such, he could be involved with any and all of them in some capacity.
  2. I enjoyed this season way more than the first one. Although, I remember contacting a friend and stating, "Wow there is SOOOOOOOOO much blood!" I think watching regular TV and movies aiming for PG-13 has made me soft. Matt/Daredevil: Sorry to say but I thought he was the most boring part of the season but mostly because of the CONSTANT REMINDER THAT HE WON'T KILL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Maybe because we're viewing everything and he can't see it ... but there are clearly cases when someone like Fisk should be taken out because they will not stop or stay behind bars. They will never learn and they will always try and kill you if they have the chance and it was obvious this episode and last Fisk is coming for Matt. Yes, the Punisher kills people who need to be "punished" but the concern was partially that he might hurt someone else too. Although technically it's a different universe (thanks Marvel/Disney) ... even the X-Men will kill you if you pose a threat to everyone and so will the police that you keep handing these guys over to. Really, pull a gun on a cop and they will shoot you. Pull a gun on Daredevil and he'll beat you and then turn you over. A few episodes in when Matt screamed at Elektra to not kill the hand assassin near the pit and it nearly got her killed, I was thinking, "Yeah ... that's what happens when you don't kill people who are obviously trying to kill you." Learn from this! Nope. You didn't Matt. At least Elektra went out this time because she chose to. She got to be "good" for once. Matt being pissed at Elektra when she was trying to kill Stick only made sence when Stick explained that if she killed him there would be no turning back. Then again, I was thinking, "Yeah of course she's mad. He tried to kill her!" I was happy when Matt announced that maybe his way isn't working but it took the entire season for him to get there. Karen: Happy that Matt and Karen happened this season so it could be over. It's hopefully out of their system. It was great that he told her but I really thought she would have figured it out when he saved her from The Hand. "Yeah, this hero sounds like Matt, the man I dated ..." I would recognize Charlie Cox's lips anywhere. Found the character way less annoying this season since she wasn't running around half cocked, not caring whether anyone was going to die aka Ben from last season. The Karen "I Will Not Stop Until I Find the Truth" Page was still there but she at least didn't wreck as much havoc on everyone else's lives. I'm happy her purpose next season will probably be a researcher for whomever the group ends up dealing with. I also appreciated that she was smart enough to break up with Matt. Someone that hides that much from you is not healthy to be around. The thing is, he didn't need to hide any of it. Saying, "that's my ex-girlfriend" or "I met this guy at the orphanage when I was a kid and he raised her" or even "Yeah, I'm Daredevil and I figured you should know since the only other person I consider to be a friend does know and if you can't handle that then bye!" I get that heroes want to protect their identities to protect the people in their lives but I'm not sure Karen would have done anything damaging to him with that information. Just like him, as far as we could tell because of her past, she only had two friends and Foggy was the other. Foggy: Love that his "hot" girlfriend is still in his life (even if they had a break) and I hope he actually dates her like a normal couple would. I always appreciated that they put her in Foggy's life so there was no need for a triangle between Karen, Matt and him. Elektra/Punisher The first time I've ever loved Elektra and I read the comic. I figured she'd die this episode but I figure she'll be back same as Nobu was and the writing on the top of the chamber stated. I never was able to get a fix on the character just reading the comic but the actress gave her a personality that made me buy their relationship. Matt's controlled. She's not. They balance each other out. She helped him have fun. He calms her down. It work. That armor looked like it wasn't going to protect her much but then again piercing is different than blunt so of course it couldn't her out there. The Punisher casting as well as Elektra's were PURE PERFECTION. Stick I'm not sure why he suddenly flipped and wanted to kill Elektra claiming she was out of control. Dude, she was no more out of control than you have been anytime you've appeared. You could have killed her when she was a kid. You could have killed her when she was an adult and you came back into her life off screen. Now, though. You want to kill her. "LOL OK!" Overall a better season than the first one. It was nearly non-stop action from the first to last episode and it makes me more excited to see Luke Cage and Jessica Jones Season 2.
  3. Sort of ... Kiera was writing the spell before she got sick. When she was done she figured out that it didn't work but before she could find the answer she became ill. However, since her mind worked she kept trying to find out how to make the spell function. Since she had been working for the past year she finally decided that she wanted to die. So, she needed Julia to carry on the work. She told Julia that she went to MIT and studied magic on her own. She didn't get into Brakebills either and she added that she didn't need school to do it. Julia's comments to her were related to what Quentin said to her when she was showing him what she had learned on her own and he was putting her down saying that the people that got into Brakebills were really good and that they probably knew what they were doing when they rejected her. So even though she had learned some things she still wasn't good enough. Quentin then continued on to tell Julia that she has always been good at everything and he wasn't but magic is his thing (paraphrasing) so she should move on. Thing is, Kiera traveling into Julia's mind proved that Julia wanted to do magic from a young age just like Quentin. Julia just had more options than Quentin because of her intelligence but yeah, the root of it was there. Kiera tells her that if she sticks to that she'll be fine. (That being the map she and Quentin made or rather keep studying and practicing on your own.) Kiera said to her, "Forget that school, the world never did help a smart girl, why would it? We scare the shit out of the world. If the world goes after you, take it as a compliment." Implying that her not getting into Brakebiils didn't have anything to do with her aptitude to do magic. She didn't need school. It wouldn't really help her. In fact Kiera could write spells on her own since she really understood magic. Someone as smart as she and Julia is scary. That may even be the reason they didn't get in. So in this show, the Hedgewitches look for copies of spells and memorize them. The Brakebills students go to class and learn them. Kiera implied that someone truly smart could learn the components and write their own like she did. That is in itself is scary since you can make anything you want, really. Both of them were smart, (Yale and MIT), both got rejected from Brakebills and Kiera did just fine on her own until she got ill and she believed that Julia would be fine as well on her own. Maybe the stuff she studies won't add up to anything (Kiera and her girlfriend making silly rainbows in a rainstorm) but the love of it is the important part she needed to remember. So in other words if you really want to do magic, you can do it on your own by using that brain of yours to figure it out. You can write your own spells. You don't need Brakebills or Hedgewitches. Even if the spells are "party tricks" or if they don't work if you really love it you'll keep doing it just like you wanted to do when you were a kid. Stop thinking about Brakebills and if magic really makes you happy then just do it, sister-girl. PS. Also Julia is in rehab and basically has destroyed her life over the past few months so I'm okay with her looking depressed all the time. When the character smiled this episode, she had earned it. She hadn't had a happy moment where she wasn't angry or vindictive since damn near the start of the series.
  4. Me thinks "releasing" ghosts could have repercussions and using a djinn to do so would be even worse. Release doesn't necessary means "send away to heaven" or wherever. Those things could be released and terrorize people. It's best to reserve the djinn for very special cases where there's less chance of the language being twisted. They have a horrible track record.Besides, Margo is the djinn's master and she's quite busy off somewhere being Margo. We'll have to take Elliott's word that there's nothing they can do and it's obvious he was actually angry at himself for having to kill his possessed ex boyfriend he knew for all of five seconds since he couldn't be freed from the Beast's grasp. As for Julia, I am happy she is getting a redemption storyline. Normally I wouldn't even care about this character after hating her for so long for sucking up space but I liked that she's still normal in there somewhere. There's something ... genuine about it to me? Weird, I know. Also I still have a thing for Mackenzie Astin. Dislike: Tour guide telling them to leave while looking panicked. They ignore him & kept pressing him with questions. Guide ends up dead and they are all, "oops!" Then go back to looking for their button and dodging ghosts. Please don't turn into TVD where that's not a big deal. Love: That the woman whose mind Julia entered was a lesbian and there was zero fuc*s given about it. That's what I like to see.
  5. I completely agree but I'd argue that he's probably not operating with a full deck so-to-speak. Furthermore he's done absolutely nothing to help himself at any point in the story. He had to be forced to admit to the police he was raped. He had to be forced to proceed with an investigation and Anne once again attempted to force him to plead not guilty. Which ties into my next point ... Again, I agree with you but you could also fanwank that maybe Anne is just tired of fighting with her son who so obviously is working on a whole other level than she is. How many times does he have to tell her to back off before she does? I think, at this point in the story, if she did then she would have been justified because again, he's done nothing to help himself at all at any point without someone prompting him. I agree again but you could also argue that they'd be more concerned with dealing with a murderer rather than helping him get less time because of the circumstances of the murder. I loved your post, BTW. I do completely agree that Taylor was making decisions that I personally would not have made but he's not me. He's a fictional character named Taylor who for all intents and purposes thinks these decisions are the right ones for him. We're the Anne's. We think they're not quite the right ones he should be making but like Anne we're just observers and at the end of the day his fate is one he chose himself.
  6. I said a few weeks ago that I suspected this would be the ending we got as in, we'll never truly know what happened that night. I also knew we'd never get answers to what happens to any of the characters. However, even though I was prepared for this it still feels unsatisfactory. Taylor: Will he plead guilty as planned or will he back down and fight. Eric: WIll he hook up with a stranger and after being attacked by one not too long ago. Terry: We don't know if she will quit her job or take the offer to move her family away from a place where they had power and influence. Leslie/Coach: DId Leslie steal the records or were they falsified by the Coach to get revenge. Anne: Was she actually mentally ill? Taylor/Eric: Did the rape ever actually take place? Kevin: Did he have anything to do with the rape? Why was he on the list? I know we're all wrapped up in the convention that a story should have a beginning, middle and an end. I know that people like to play with that convention to do something new and exciting. The problem is, as a viewer, while I "get" that -- it's been done so many times that it seems like a cop out and uninteresting to me. I would have liked some resolution for some of the above. We got it for Evy, we got it for the other principle and I think that's just about it. I'll add that I felt Taylor's decision to plead was completely idiotic and I didn't expect him to go that route. I think that was the one thing I couldn't buy from this finale. I jokingly referred to this ending as the, "choose your own adventure" ending to the story because you're left up to your own devices to guess what happened to everyone after it was over and what decisions they made. I don't believe this is a spoiler since the series is over but the director/creator/writer did a couple of things which I think was nice for the actors performance-wise and the latter I figured out just watching it. 1. You only were given the scenes you were in so you had no clue what was happening with anyone else. Knowing this, and sensing it before I heard him even say it, it kind of leaves my brain a little confused. I know it was intentional and yet it still feels unsatisfying. In that spirit, I'll add what I think happened: Taylor: Plead guilty because he has been throwing himself on some imaginary pyre the entire series and no one has ever been able to stop him. I still don't know this boy's motivations which leads me to think he'd have issues even if the alleged rape never happened. Eric: WIll hook up with a stranger because his conversation with his brother and past actions lead me to believe he will not rest until he hurts himself and he is simply too self-loathing to snap out of it this quickly. Terry: Will bow down and move on. I mean, her husband can work anywhere. They'll eventually regain the power they had. Leslie/Coach: Leslie said it herself, she's not not stupid enough to leak those documents, shred them and get caught so the Coach and his wife set her up. Anne: She has a few issues but she's not mentally ill enough so that it completely destroys her intentions throughout the series. Taylor/Eric: Yes, the rape happened because Eric has a ton of issues and could easily deny in his own mind that it ever did and cause that to become his truth. Kevin: Had zero to do with the rape, but he got lumped in with the other guys as usual. Of course I could be completely wrong but .... means I'm not wrong? I'll be okay if the series doesn't come back but kudos to all of the actors for giving such wonderful and thought provoking performances.
  7. Over time, I grew to love Lexa very much but she was going to die from the first moment we saw her side with Clark on anything. It wasn't a shock at all to me. It was only a matter of time. Sure, people are upset about the way she died. On the other hand, who more fitting to kill her for the drama points than her "teacher"/"advisor" by accident while attempting to take out the person she loved the most, Clark? He's also the one person, besides Clark herself, who we would least expect to do it since he obeyed her orders even if he didn't agree with them. I didn't get flashbacks of Tara on Buffy's death only because that was a complete shock. Tara didn't have people wanting to kill her at all times because of decisions she made which did not favorite the majority. Tara wasn't a leader with a target on her back. To me, Lexa's death is a case of, what happens when you make unpopular decisions during a war. Her closest advisor snapped and it accidentally lead to her death. I'd say if this were another show he would have blamed the death on Skykru immediately, tried to have them killed then take the leadership spot for himself but it's a bit more complicated. Loved the Polaris flashbacks and the explanations about how the two groups are connected. I'd like to think the AI "knows" this so it was the reason why Skykru didn't get the axe repeatedly. It recognizes that they are a part of the group even if they came down and joined later on. I think that's why I believed Lexa when she said Clark's people would be protected. There may have been other Commanders who were different from Lexa but they were before Skykru came to Earth. Also, the AI could hopefully be the reason why we see Lexa or some version of her again. I'd welcome that. (I'd also welcome the same actress in whatever capacity she is available.) Maybe the second AI takes on the form of the last person that was Commander. I understood after Finn's death that no one on The 100 gets a happy ending, at least not yet. It's just going to be one of those kinds of shows. So while I'm attached to a few people like Octavia or Indra I know they could easily bite it the next episode. (And I'm genuinely happy that Adele Porter has found so much work post True Blood and American Horror Story. That woman has range and skills so I hope she sticks around but I could totally see her dying in battle so she can have a moment with Octavia.) Finally, it seems that the symbol is rare enough so that there's def. only one the grounders know of and that's the one that gets passed from person to person and it probably contains a lot of data gathered over lifetimes. It would be interesting to see what goes on in the Commander's head. Is it similar to what happens in Jaha's where the AI is more of an advisor that has the ability to influence and alter brain responses or is it something entirely different.
  8. I don't mean to sound insensitive (which means I'm totally about to sound insensitive ...) but while the interview portions were moving ... I would have preferred they be at the end of the episode so I could have watched the entire episode without the intrusion. Also this season went from rape to gay bashing to a school shooting. Yeah, that's a lot. I just feel like if this season was going to be about a school shooting then it shouldn't have been about the other two topics because it's almost like, "SURPRISE! WE FOOLED YOU! THE CRIME IS THE SHOOTING! GOTCHA! MADE YA LOOK!" Because while you could say, this all lead to this ... that's still a lot to digest.
  9. I got the impression that there's more going on with him than they are letting on which would not only explain how he became in charge of the office so quickly but why Abbie can do pretty much whatever she wants: "they" need her working with them. She is "the asset" and her deeds must be immediately reported back to "someone." He literally had to call someone to tell her she was out of the game as soon as she quit. Also this would explain why in this episode it was so easy for her to "return" to the FBI without anyone really digging into her whereabouts. Sure he could have hid her paperwork and explained it as a leave and had people cover it up -- although they do get a ridiculous amount of time off the longer they've been there .... but yeah. The Witness? Of course SHE can return! And the government has been involved in the supernatural for years from Ben Franklin to important historical figures like Betsy Ross. So I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know about Abbie already even beyond the recruitment and placement process where they dig into everyone you associate with. (I've been dug into more than once for people and it's weird. Luckily I'm boring and not ... Sheriff Corbin secret artifact collector or Jenny who once claimed she and her sister saw a demon or their mom who had a lot of supernatural issues.) Finally, now that I think about it, they've been grooming us for a "beyond friends" for Abbie and Ichabod for a while now. Crane's nearly insane desperation to get her back to her picturing Crane while trapped on the other side instead of ... you know ... your sister or any man you've actually dated ... Det. Reynolds romantic ending / Zoe's exit on good terms (since she knows Crane is actually fighting demons and wasn't ignoring her because he was watching TV or something ...) It's their time to shine.
  10. I actually quit watching the show for an entire season and have no desire to go back and rewatch. Why? They got rid of the Harvey/Mike dynamic that was the whole point of the damn thing. I do think it's riveting now just to see how this plays out. .... but I figured out what the problem is. After returning I see Mike is still in a-hole mode and failed to remember the only reason he is there is because of these people. Mike can read every book ever and memorize case after case but the fact of the matter is: he learned the ropes from Harvey, got support from Donna, Jessica and the others and he quickly forgot all about that. They lied for him and he doesn't seem to care. They're trying to save their own skin and help you and the first part they are only doing because of you but you are too full of yourself to see that. What I'm seeing is: Mike: I am going to represent myself! I am going to do this to this witness! I am going to blackmail this person into .. Them: Mike you shouldn't do that because ... Mike: I don't care! I know more than all of you because I didn't go to law school but I memorize things and I've been working here a few years so I think I have a better grip than you people that have been doing this for 20 plus years! Them: We just want to help before you get us all in troub-- Mike: I. Do. Not. Care. I AM MIKE ROSS FAKE ATTORNEY AT LAW! NOW DO AS I TELL YOU INSTEAD OF THROWING ME UNDER A BUS AND SAVING YOURSELVES! I DO NOT WANT YOUR HELP THAT I NEED! There is zero reason why any reasonable person would think that they are a better attorney than the attorney that taught them this early on in their career. Mike is all, full speed ahead charging at people while Harvey and Jessica are smart enough to think first. Mike is just the most unlikable person on the show. At least Louis is a good lawyer and when forced to admits when he needs help and respects his coworkers on some level.
  11. The best part of that was, when she mentioned that Crane had forgotten about something, I was thinking, "Does he know her? Was she a big bad?" Then I remembered she existed. I completely forgot about her. It's nice that Crane had an experience where he got to "move on" from Katrina and try dating someone/anyone and now he is hopefully ready to be with Abbie because the writers have FINALLY (hopefully) decided to let the show go in that direction. Joe joined the marines to get away from Sheriff Corbin because he, according to his own observations, spent more time with Abbie (training her but he didn't know that nor did she) than he spent with him. That rough patch was from sometime before Joe left for the marines until he knew the truth about the Sheriff after his death. I get why Joe commented. He likes Jenny, she likes him etc. they fight together, steal together and make out but beyond that, she did incorporate him into a plan to steal something from said father. (Which opened the door for conversation.) She then pulled out the thing she stole past its usefulness. If you really dislike someone you're probably not carrying around objects that remind you of them, especially since, (as he pointed out) she could have used her phone for light. Jenny did point out that he was a deadbeat and she didn't want to have coffee with her father. He explained his Sheriff issue again but then she used "Abbie doesn't want to talk to him" as an excuse not to talk to him which isn't a great excuse and Jenny's expression did make seem like he was on to something and she was starting to realize it. My personal feelings and life experiences aside: Joe knows Jenny better than any of us do and her expression, the lighter and her Abbie excuse leans towards him being on the mark when he called her out on her wanting to speak to him but not attempting to because of her ego and not because she hates him.
  12. This episode made me feel like I was thrown down a flight of stairs after. Wow, what a great hour of television! I feel like we're about to circle back around to him. Taylor flashing on "Kevin" in a shot from a scene I don't think we've seen before makes me think he def. had something to do with with went down. So many parallels explored this episode: Eric needs to talk to someone so he confided in a trick that tries to rape him. Taylor needs to talk to someone so he tries to hang with a drug dealer who can't understand he doesn't need sex but he needs a friend. While the principle of the school is upset at a Eric's dad for not doing enough to stop his son's homophobic behavior, the same parent is calling out the principle for not doing something to solve their school's race issues. The difference between Anne/Taylor and The LaCroix's and Eric's parents are pretty clear at this point: While Anne may have not been the best mother a few years ago, she tries her damndest to get into Taylor's head to see who he is as a person. She didn't care that he was gay. She wanted to help him when he wouldn't help himself. She stays with him to the very end. She doesn't care that they are destroying her life. She just wants her son to be able to have one. Kevin's parents have a perfect future planned for their child and they refuse to see him for who he really is. He has to date who they want. He has to play basketball how they want. It's about him but it's not really about him. It's about their idea of him. The son in their head could NEVER do something horrible. Coach and his wife's daughter is up to no good. They seem to suspect something but neither takes the time really delve into it. Eric's father is trying to hold it all together but still won't talk to his son about what's happening inside of his head. I was happy when Eric finally had his, "but what about ME" moment with him. When piecing together what happened that night I'm reminded of the end of a great movie, Eve's Bayou. Long story short, we're not really sure what happened between two characters in the film even after hearing both their sides but we're told, "the truth changes color, depending on the light. And tomorrow can be clearer than yesterday." Both Taylor and Eric could be correct in what happened based upon their own perspectives or they could both be wrong. We shall see. You've never seen a season of Shameless? j/k ... but actually ...
  13. Well in some cases it's some of the Doctor/Rose syndrome where Martha was largely hated before she even opened her mouth on screen. In those cases some of them were clearly racism and in other cases people just could not accept anyone else being near the Doctor. (At least Freema has had an awesome career afterwards.) As an African-American I was worried about this with Ian's new relationship but personally, I was never a fan of Ian and Mickey but they did seem like they gelled and as an actor, it just seems like he's reading his lines. I recognize that he hasn't done many roles outside of shorts and a supporting role in a TV movie but I'm sure as time goes on they will give him more to do, he'll improve and really give out "some" kind of vibe but that's all subjective.
  14. Seriously, I loved their vibe. At first I was confused by Nick but he then turned into a gentle giant and constant companion. Him popping up and not saying anything was great because he looked out of place. (Giant guy that looks mean but it appeared he wasn't.) However, the circumstances under which Carl met him added with his age and history lead us to this point. I too was glad he didn't die in a hail of bullets but I was waiting for that to happen when Carl walked away. He simply wasn't right in the head. I will say, I'd hoped, Carl would have said that the kid was a kid like he was and he shouldn't go after him but, again, Nick wasn't right in the head. His anger towards her is disproportionate with what actually happened between the two of them. You married someone you barely knew and went on tour right after. She cheated and broke up with you. You embarassed her in a crowded bar by singing a song about how horrible she was while she sat there and took it. That should have been the end of it. Now you're being an a-hole about something else just because you can be? You know what, Fiona ... I think in this case you actually dodged a bullet. This part I adored. Helene may be gross but technically she should have been angry at Lip, not her. She attempted to destroy the woman's career. That goes far beyond, "You're banging the guy that didn't really want me in the first place and I originally just used in order to upset my parents .... but then I fell in love with him so now everyone must suffer!" Svetlana is one of the best things on this show. She started out as a character we weren't supposed to like in the Ian/Mickey storyline, turned into a character that we actually sympathized with because of how much she loved her son in spite of his idiot dad, and then jumped stories completely into one where she works well as the wacky bar tender at the Alibi. Her no-nonsenseness hasn't changed from the beginning but it really brings the comedy here. Also I do hope the little girl sticks around and doesn't disappear like the Amish one they adopted way back in ... some other season. Of course this lead them to wanting to have kids of their own because the scam they started actually turned to them loving her so through that it served a purpose. I don't feel like they have any chemistry at all but I do like that this story is teaching Ian there's more to gay relationships and relationships in general than sex. You can actually go on dates and there are guys who actually want to get to know you as a person without getting into a physical fight somewhere in between all of that. Love isn't supposed to hurt!
  15. Agreed. I'd say she wasn't supposed to look great because she's not the star of the show and usually on these court shows the opposition in court looks frazzled as hell because they're not the super star attorney and so we don't have any actual reason to like them. If Matt Bomer was questioning her on the stand I'd be rooting for him to destroy Annalise. What is interesting and related to this appearance is that Mary Pat Gleason has been acting since the dawn of time and more so she's a part of the Shondaland family. She has been on Scandal, Grey's Anatomy and she has completed the trifecta of Shonda appearances on David Norwalk's How to Get Away With Murder. She deserves a Shondaland MVP award.
  16. I was sitting here thinking, "You know Annie would it kill you to say thank you to Bonnie even once? Even if you don't mean it because you're ... you?" Then I realized that Bonnie has known her for years now and knows exactly how she is. Bonnie also has quite a few issues of her own and while she began to break away from Annalise last season a bit, is still very attached to her. They "need" one another at this point and neither is willing to admit it verbally but they both understand it. As much as Annalise pretends she can't stand Bonnie, Bonnie is the first person she calls when she needs something ... well, something that doesn't involve murder in which case she'd call Frank. Annalise/Bonnie is sort of like having a boss who is generally horrible to you but you know has a heart because once they got you a trip to Costa Rica because they know they can't live without you but will never actually say it. Every bad thing that has happened on this show except for the initial murder is Wes' fault. From Annie's husband's murder to his obsession with Rebecca leading to her murder and Sinclair's murder. It is all Wes' fault. Wes, a student who shouldn't have even have been in her class in the first place that she let in because she took pity on him because of something she did to his mother a decade ago. It is great that at least one character isn't stupid and recognizes that every bad thing on this show that involves the students and Annalise is because of Wes. Her calling him back was probably her remembering that the situation he is in is probably tied to something she did years ago. "Maybe if I hadn't have done that thing I did to his mama then he probably would have been raised right! Oops, I feel bad now. COME BACK!" I was thinking it was too coincidental that the two just happened to meet then I thought about it and that wouldn't explain where "ghost baby" came from. It's kind of obvious that what Annie was seeing was related to the past but all mixed up in her head. So I do think Annalise was pregnant and it's a secret that only she and Bonnie seem to know.
  17. Honestly, when I was writing my last post on the show I needed to have an IMDB page open to remember who was who. So I totally get the mix up. I think it's because they have very normal names. "Eric," "Michael" and "Kevin" are no "Temperance," "Olivia" and "Booth." I can only recall Terri LaCroix, Leslie and Evy off the top of my head.
  18. Wow, what an episode! I hope they don't kill Jessup's character because that would be a complete cliche and this show has done pretty well at keeping things much more complex. However, one thing I do love is that everything is turned on its head from episode to episode of how we should see these characters. Is Terri LaCroix a monster? No. She's just scared for her son and wants the best for him. Is Michael LaCroix a good guy who was supportive of his son's dating life and the one man who could calm Terri down when she was nearing the deep end because he is so level headed? Nope, he's willing to work his connections to with the police to scare Anne into leaving them alone. Is Anne, Taylor's mom out searching for justice? Not necessarily, she is obsessed with heaps of mental and past issues including a previous abandonment of her son. She is going after everyone and everyone without her son's support. Is Eric a rapist or is he an innocent guy accused of rape by someone who was confused? Innocent? Maybe but he's definitely a psycho with tons of issues. Is Eric's father disappointed in his son for being gay? Nope. He's the only one showing any sort of support for his son. Is Kevin an asshole? Probably but he wasn't there when the basketball team was making a plan with Eric. I also doubt he would have let that fly and would be smart enough to know the repercussions if they get caught. (Also I've seen enough cop shows to know that the first thing the police will do is check Taylor's phone records if he is killed or rendered unconscious and see that Eric called him before the assault.) Is Leslie Graham on top of things? No. Girl is about to lose it. Then again, if anything at all that happened this episode comes to light she has a good reason to be scared because that school, that the public already hates, is going down. Is Connor a liar? Apparently not because even though he has attempted to call off his mother multiple times and has denied the story publicly he is sticking to his story privately and that says something.
  19. I went back for a rewatch because -- I kind of like this show. From what I gathered, Marina and Jules knew that Quentin had managed to contact Penny because they were observing him when they were putting him under the spell. When they came out of it, she sent Kady to lead Penny to Quentin. The weird part here is, what would they have done if Quentin didn't have that connection with Penny and had not been able to contact him to start him on the hunt? Elliot was the one who mentioned they should get the Dean. I will say that while I don't think Jules wanted to permanently incapacitate Quentin initially the fact remains that she knew it was a possibility this could happen from Marina. She still went along with Marina to the school while Quentin was trapped in his mind cage and she only went to help when Kady reiterated how bleak things looked because as Kady said, "I didn't sign up for this shit!" As for what Marina has on Kady: it could be as simple as, "if they find out Kady is a double agent they will take her memories and boot her out." So, she "can't" talk. One thing I did notice is that Kady had no problem mouthing off to Marina in the car a few episodes ago and calling her a psychopath in this one. Also: Total American Horror Story Asylum vibes when everyone broke out into a Taylor Swift dance fest ala The Name Game dance sequence.
  20. That's the first thing I thought when I started watching it. Then again that idea was done even before Buffy and was done on Supernatural. I love this show but I'm honestly kind of sick of that recycled plot idea. Anytime there is a scifi show set in the "real world" with supernatural beings I wait for this plot to come up. "Oh so now you have to choose between the real world and the fake magic world!" The one thing Buffy did, however, was have it be slightly appealing to stay in the other world by having Hank and Joyce together and Joyce being alive so at least with that one you could see why she'd want to stick around. Quentin didn't have that issue. From what I got from watching, Jules didn't think the spell would be as powerful as it was. She just wanted to "mess with him" ala the witches (initially) vs. Sarah in the Craft but just like in that film Nancy/Marina had other ideas and the choice is whether to stand with her or turn against her. My problem is, that while Jules felt remorseful after she "learned" that Quentin could stay in dream land forever - it took some prompting before she moved her butt to even attempt to help him. Kady seemed to care about the repercussions of the spell from the get-go once she learned them even helping the gang find Quentin. Jules your friend told you off ... he didn't try to attack you psychically. They are the worst with that. After Alphas' cancellation I'm still too nervous to truly fall in love with any show on SyFy. At least "Being Human" got an ending.
  21. I'd be more than okay with this happening. There are a bunch of plot points about ghosts that have been glossed over or poorly explained. It would be great if Queenie: 1. Is brought back to life by someone from the Coven because, as you mentioned, she was one of her top Lts. 2. Killing Queenie of all of the witches in the hotel should, in general, prove to be a bad idea. It would be satisfying if she became a ghost and wrecked havoc on everyone there, especially Ramona who has her blood inside her. 3. Is used to also bring up a point that people go missing in the hotel and no one ever seems to come looking for them except for this time. In other words, the Supreme would certainly come looking for her own if she disappeared. She didn't just train her and bring her on as one of her top people but she also more than likely has the power to deal with March. Queenie almost was Supreme. 4. They remember that Queenie can bring herself back; she did at least once in Coven after being shot just like Misty Day did multiple times except for the last when her body disintegrated so there was nothing to come back to. (RIP Misty Day.) I doubt any of those options will occur because it's Ryan Murphy but it would be nice if for once he followed a natural progression of plot.
  22. I only watched this season for Matt Bomer, Angela and Kathy. I don't care about Gaga. Then they gave Matt very little to do and bumped him off without a proper resolution for his relationship with Iris. I didn't like it how he was crouched on the floor avoiding the gunfire then got up to block the countess then fell down then got up again! What kind of choreography? It seems forced. Bomer, you deserve better. You had your own TV series. Please do better. (I feel the same way about everyone else on the show at this point.) Then they brought back Queenie JUST to kill her off which is a practice I've hated since Buffy the Vampire Slayer killed off Bianca Lawson's, Kendra and Angel killed off Charisma Carpenter's, Cordelia Chase. However it was worse since her presence had no actual meaning. It was a stupid cameo. Also Queenie from Coven would have took her butt right out of there as soon as she sensed "bad juju." Even if she didn't you'd expect the witches to know where she went and seek retribution but I doubt that will happen either. I don't know why Gabby bothered to return and it was typical show for them to have March explain why he could kill her ala "I'm a ghost so you can't hurt me!" True, March but her energy was focused on Ramona so what you did to her should have been done to Ramona. However, as usual, this show will do what it needs to do to make things happen even if they're nonsensical. I have never once posted on here or any other incarnation of this place that I am done with a show (Because I didn't want to be one of those people that shows up again next season) but I am done with this show. You can only burn me so many times before even I have to take a knee.
  23. From reading a bunch of articles and watching interviews, the show wasn't shot in order. I recall Bomer mentioning that because of Gaga's schedule the first scenes we saw with the two of them together in episode one (orgy) were actually shot three months into the production. I also believe he was still shooting the Magnificent Seven while the show was shooting. Also, Paulson was doing two shows at once so I'm sure things had to be juggled to accommodate that and give her time to rest. Overall, it's great, that in this episode they addressed at least one main sticking point that people have had all season. I expect they'll finally get around to adding in a throw away line about why vampires can't become ghosts or why only vampires can become ghosts. If Donovan and the Countess are dead, do they have unfinished business? The only vampire that didn't die (either finally or metaphorically by becoming a vampire) in the hotel is Valentino. Tristan on the other hand never returned. I'd argue Donovan may have unfinished business with his mother as I believe that even if he says he hates her, he really doesn't. His freak out over her death which caused him to vamp her shouldn't have been simply explained away with, he didn't really mean it. The Countess may not want to leave behind Bart. If they're dead, I guess we'll see. (Although Donovan was on his knees behind something with they were being shot at and I wouldn't be surprised if he threw himself in front of the Countess as a shield.)
  24. Iris (was human) and Liz is human and have lived there for years and nothing has happened to them. So there has to be a safe area or some rule there we haven't seen. The ghosts also have never attacked the vampires. The Countess only killed someone associated with Liz because he betrayed her and she didn't know what she was planning on doing to herself or planning on "running." Also, obviously the Cortez has to have some guests that live or the cops would have been swarming that place eons ago. We know, before they were on the down swing, they had quite a lot from Ramona's flashback. Also I think they mentioned there's a reason the ghosts target certain people. For instance, if you're a drug addict or have some sort of addiction problem then Sally will come after you. If you're on the floor where the teacher killed herself and drink the water she'll come after you. The ghost "tourists" didn't even know they could just up and kill someone until Donovan told them they could. If not for him they'd still be wandering around looking for directions. In the son's case, also, Miss Evers knows he's there and likes Liz so she would have steered March away from him (hopefully.) Being that the actors were talking as if they were still shooting the show a couple of weeks ago, I think you're on the right track. The writers are smartly paying attention enough to plug up some plot holes. "Yeah, uh ... where is Scarlet? Are they even seeing her? Let's add a throw away line that murderer father does go visit her. Yeah, that will shut them up." I'm going to go with your second one since all of the vamps have died in the hotel with the exception of the Countess or maybe (if Donovan and the Countess are dead) we'll get our answers next episode. I do wonder how Ramona will feel if the Countess is dead since her main reason for living, revenge, has been taken from her ... plus she's still trapped. They really should let her out. There's no reason for her to even be in there are this point.
  25. Iris and Liz were amazing this episode. Their last scene is going to be so GIF-able. Mare is a gem as Miss Evers. 'Nuff said! Donovan dancing to Hotline Bling was the final nail in the coffin for the love I had for that song. I guess Ramona is going to have even more problems than she did before if she feeds off of those already mutated sick children. Did Iris and John know she was in there? If not, I guess they just expected the kids to die off like the one girl did at the house. I was strangely happy to see Alex, John and their son walk away from the hotel but I suppose something will end up dragging them back so Sally can exact her revenge or at least try to. So many "she's getting revenge." Liz got revenge on the Countess. Iris got revenge on Donovan and the Countess. The Countess got revenge on Valentino's lover. I'm hoping if Iris and Liz take over the hotel they finally let Ramona out but with this show I doubt that will happen. Finally: Sally thinking Alex would care if she knew her husband was a serial killer while she's busy giving blood of slain people to The Countess, herself and her son is kind of ridiculous.
