Ha, you kid because you love???

Yeah, that was the Coliseum. It would be cool if they shopped in J Town, but I don't think they will.

Probably not a big loss once I thought about it.  The big grocery store over there isn't as good as it used to be when it was Mitsuwa.  Like I'll go to it if I'm over there, but most of the time I wouldn't make a special trip.

I can't stop laughing at these two fuckheads who we're supposed to give a flying fuck about and DaYna is trying to decide between.

Also, the new kids bore me so much, I feel inspired to do things like trim my cats' nails and wipe their butts when they're on screen.

Jax, a year from now when Britt (is she still alive in quarantine with him?) and Jax pop out a corona-baby: "why do you care if I'm mean to our baby?"

Look at that sexy laundry detergent.

But, the big take away should be, if that's his apartment he has in unit laundry.  That's quite a coup.  That apartment is probably $$$

Is there a birth control that makes you lose weight?  If so, I’d like to know which one!  Every bcp I’ve been on makes me fatter.

Speaking of.. Brittney has packed on the weight.  I’m not shaming her, but I wonder if Jax is not happy about that.  Remember how upset he was when she gained weight when they were in Kentucky??

Stassi said a couple of episodes back that she took her IUD out (I got behind and am binging to get it over with).  I don't know if an IUD makes you gain, so I don't know if removing it would make you lose.  It was the episode where she went to the gyno.  I think it is possible Beau was wearing one of her hair pieces as bangs during the convo.  They said she'd taken it out and they were not trying for a kid but were not not trying and she was going to the gyno to make sure all her stuff was working.

Cool, they're gonna be heading to Tokyo and the Olympic village ... It sucks to think about where we were supposed to be and where we are. They should've shelved this episode and just tweeted out a written summary.

I think they are just going to the Coliseum.  There's been several shots of the peristyle in the season previews and the episode has Coliseum in the name.  There isn't an Olympic Village from the 84 LA Olympics, they just used USC and UCLA since it was the summer, USC being across the street from the Coliseum.   Maybe they'll grocery shop in Little Tokyo.  It isn't time to leave LA yet.  The camp they went to for this episode was only about 90 miles from LA, so only like a 4 hour drive 🤣

  4. I cackled so hard when Josie pulled the half kilo of coke out of Alex's pocket.  I'm starting to think his potential money problems have nothing to do with Pepper scamming him.  Was the props department just like "we bought this jumbo box of Arm And Hammer so we're going to use the whole thing"?

I think Jorge might be my least favorite person on the show.  Everything is always about him.  His take away about the department store is closing is it is terrible because he just started working there.  There's always at least one thing an episode he turns around like that or at the very least he turns a conversation to be about him. He has been self-centered since the beginning, but I feel like as the season went on it got worse -- I think the turning point might have been when he broke Katy's sewing machine.

I really don't understand why Katy is attracted to Guy at all. He was okay the night that they met but since then he's been a petulant drunken diva. How is that attractive at all?

He's an inappropriate choice because of work and apparently that's a big turn on for her.  Have we seen a straight male that she has interacted with in her job that she hasn't slept with?  It's only been two, but it seems like the writers are creating a pattern, probably without thinking about it.

When I read the description I figured it was going to be one of those chain emails. And wasn't it from 2009 or thereabouts? It was right after the Blind Side invitation. I've always found it entertaining that in the 21st century emails systems have a mailer daemon.

Not to be a Colin Robinson, but it's not just email that have daemons.  It's just a background process that sits and runs.  This is all super simplified, but...  Most web servers are running on a process called httpd (the d means its a daemon).  Chrond is the daemon for chrontab -- you schedule chron jobs and chrond sits there and runs them when it is time.  Ftpd needs to be running if you want to ftp.  If you want to ssh you need the ssh daemon running.  Syslogd is the system logging daemon.  Ntpd (network time protocol daemon) makes sure the system clock is correct.  Fingerd lets you finger someone, but I'm not sure there's a lot of that going on anymore -- I don't think I've fingered anyone since the 90s.  It goes on and on.  It's from the ancient Greek meaning of daemon which were just invisible things that toiled in the background, not the Christian meaning of demon.  On Windows they are called services.  I'm not sure what they are called on Macs.

  7. So files don't just get magically deleted from GIT if committed and if they couldn't restore them it makes me think that Max did it on purpose, which seems kind of over the top.  Or the writers just used some techy sounding words.  Granted it's been several years since I've worked with GIT, but the whole purpose of version control is so shit like this doesn't happen.

I thought Max did those people quite the disservice in how he handled the situation.  I don't know why he was acting as though they had to make all their decisions the same day as they received that diagnosis.  The diagnosis itself would be a lot to take in, much less how overwhelming it would be to be inundated with information concerning various studies.  This would be a weeks long or months long process.  I understand that a tv show isn't going to mirror reality, but this was all just silly.

And again, Iggy is terrible at his job.  I can't imagine this would honestly be the first time someone he was evaluating claimed he was biased, and Iggy wouldn't already know how to redirect those kind of claims.  That Iggy had any kind of crisis over it, much less felt the need to prove to the patient that he was not biased was ridiculous.

It would be ridiculous for anyone else but felt in character for Iggy to me because Iggy is the worst.

It occurs to me that both of their pistols were automatics, and thus eject the shells as they are fired.  The PD, in the real world at least, checks all evidence for fingerprints.  Dembe might not be in the system, but Red is, from the Lizzie-sponsored arrest.  And I'll bet that he didn't think to clean each cartridge as he loaded the magazine that morning.

Maybe Dembe loads Red's guns for him?  He does everything else.

So Lizzie is a bad ass? 🤣🤣🤣

Did Kemp guess who Red was just based on him monologuing?  Like is Red known the world over for his monologues on top of being the concierge of crime?  Or did he say something that would have made it guessable it was him?  I kept rewinding, but also kept zoning out.

  10. Restaurant Depot had a lot of meat because restaurants aren't exactly doing business hand over fist right now (I'm in LA).  The downside is the unit size is huge.  I have 40lbs of chicken thighs.  Our markets were picked pretty bare, but I think they are getting better.  I went to Sprouts for some produce and they had a ton of meat in stock.  They didn't have eggs, milk, bread, or frozen food, but everything else looked fine and it wasn't mobbed.  I'm hoping that the initial panic is easing.  I didn't look at TP or water because I drink from the tap and just got paper supplies at Costco in Feb.  I'll probably end up redistributing some of my chicken thighs and also some rice (because I've got a lot of that too), but right now everyone in my neighborhood seems to be doing okay.

  11. This is the one time in my life I don't have a full freezer and pantry.  Shit was getting old so I was forcing myself to eat out of what I have instead of grocery shopping.  I've been doing it off and on for a few months and was finally approaching success when the mad rush on grocery stores happened.  Normally I'd be like whatever, I can go deep into the freezer and pantry, but I shot myself in the foot.  So I ventured out to Restaurant Depot because I figured I wouldn't be able to handle the crowds at the normal markets (not to mentioned they are picked bare).  In a poorly timed stroke of fate, RD is rearranging their store, so not only were their shortages, but things were not where they normally go.  So when I could only find frozen meat I didn't know if it was because supply was limited or things were moved.  Long story short, I almost ended up with 20 or 30 pounds of beef cheeks because the options were that, chicken wings, or tripe.  Then I found the new entrance to the normal meat area, but I was thisclose to being Leon.  Also, beef cheeks are mad cheap.

I guess I imagined it as closer to three.  Three weeks of constant flirtation and entendres in daily contact consummated by only making out does sound damned slow to me.  It's mostly the constant daily interaction that informs that for me.  I mean, working apart, seeing each other even a couple times a week, no doubt and absolutely.  But I worked in a number of summer programs and jobs, the same kind of daily interactions, and this seems long.  I'll cop to simply not getting it.

The whole season for BD is usually 6 weeks.  It seems like forever, but we're only a few episodes in.  I don't know how many episodes this season is, but I'm guessing we are not half way through yet.

And I didn't like Axel moving back in with Dex.  Living independently was something he wanted very badly and fought hard to get.  He shouldn't have to give that up to serve as a crutch for Dex.  You can support someone without giving up your own ambitions and goals.  I was really hoping Dex would say that she appreciated the offer, but he was doing so well on his own that she wanted to see him continue to thrive.  I think that would be an important lesson to teach Axel.  But, no.

Wasn't it always his plan to move back in after he finished his list?  I thought that was talked about when he initially moved out.

Ukiah is way out of the way of the most efficient way to drive from LA to Portland. if your car is as crappy as Dex's, why the hell are you taking the scenic route?

I usually just do LA to Sacramento or LA to SF and also usually just take the 5 because I'm in a hurry, but doesn't the 101 have more towns vs the farmland along the 5?  If I was worried about my car breaking down I might pick the route with more towns so I wasn't stranded without options.

For me, last night’s episode was weird. I was thinking....this seems off...is it bad acting...bad directing...bad writing....or just too mixed up...IDK..The chaotic military scenes were just off to me. And when Grey confronted Dex about her trashed house, her pain seemed forced and too fake. Plus, that breakdown throwing things didn’t work for me. Just didn’t fit.  Then, Dex is driving down this road having more mental terrors, as she CLOSES her eyes multiple times!!! I hate it when drivers take their eyes off the road.

I normally like this show, so, I was a little disappointed.  I’d like more of Dex looking for her parents.

I thought for sure she was going to crash.  It really bothered me that she did not pull over.

  14. A hotel isn't in the same tier as a private yacht though.  My suitcase is sectioned and I use packing cubes, so I keep my dirties and cleans separate, but I still hate the last part of a vacation when my suitcase is mostly dirties and I hate doing all the laundry when I get home, so I'd totally take advantage of someone else doing my laundry for "free" if the service was offered.

Yes!!! I am so mad at Callie right now. I don’t mind her and Jaime disagreeing on the best course of action regarding mental health services for the city, but Callie MAJORLY violated Jaime’s trust as a girlfriend, behaved unethically benefiting a candidate for the bar and demonstrated she’s too emotionally immature to practice law.

I am 100% on Jaime’s side with this one. I would’ve asked her to leave.

The actor is staying on the show. While I’m more on Jaime’s side than Callie’s, as another lawyer I do think, no I KNOW he should’ve kept his trap shut about who his client was, and what they did etc etc. Now of course lawyers talk to other lawyers about their cases all the time for insight, off the clock help and general brain storming (especially if that other lawyer is their spouse/partner), but when you’re both licensed you’re bound to confidentiality and it doesn’t leave your damn house if that’s your PARTNER.

Given Callie isn’t actually a lawyer and completely ridiculous Jaime should’ve known better than to discuss this with her.

Did he tell her anything before she already "knew" about it?  I don't pay close enough attention to this show to remember weeks back through all their conversations.

I think emotionally immature sums it up perfectly.  She's also way too ego driven.  It was all about what she thought was best and seeing herself as someone that fights for what's right, not necessarily what was best for the tenants.

Also, why does everyone insist on sleeping with their bosses and coworkers?!?!  It's so frustrating.  I know it's TV and all, but I've had to talk my fair share of early twenty-somethings off the ledge for getting involved with folks at work or threaten HR action when they let it interfere with their work.  I find it always makes me put my manager hat on why I watch shit like this.  Lol!

I hate having to have the don't shit where you eat conversation with subordinates.  It is so awkward.

Callie did behave unethically.  So did Jamie.  I think she should stay with him and not go back to Gael.

What did Jamie do that is unethical?  I think he deserves better than Callie, but I wanted them to stay together because I don't want him off the show.  Aside from liking that he seems like a thoughtful and balanced guy that tries to do the right thing without blowing shit up, which is a nice contrast to Callie's approach, it makes me laugh to think that Matty McKibben grew up to be a high paid lawyer.  I also appreciate that the show took a nuanced approach to someone that leans more conservatively without making them an over the top caricature, too bad they couldn't do the same for Callie.

  17. Callie is the absolute worst.  I'd rather have Jamie on the show than her, but you know that's not how things are going to work 🙂

If the Marianna/Evan scene was real, they really need to not bang at the office.  With all the issues going on there it is absolutely the worst idea, like stupid enough that Callie could have suggested it.

It was a v. sweet episode - but the one thing that kept bugging me is...

they let you take the baby home without naming them?

In California you can file a supplemental name report to add a name to the certificate of live birth.  It is free if you do it in the first year and costs ~$25 thereafter.  It is only for adding first, middle, and/or last names that are not on the birth certificate, not for changing names.  That implies to me that you do not have to name the baby right away.  The hospital probably pressures you to though because they just want to do the paperwork and get it over with and I'm sure it is easier to just do things the normal way.  Also, if you do it the supplemental name report way your name is not on your birth certificate, it is on an attached second page and that's not cute in a baby book.

  19. It isn't a bunch of cops though. Isn't it just a single local LEO on leave and a single statie, both of which were recently involved in questionable decision making which resulted in the incident that caused the leave and the death of someone in custody, neither of which have any real reason for hanging out with Claude, and both of which are outside their jurisdiction?  Then there's 2 PIs, a defense attorney, and whatever the kinda-boyfriend is.  Not only is the local LEO on leave, but he's getting mandated psych treatment -- his word might not be gold right now.  And keep in mind, if this follows pattern, there's going to be a ton of physical evidence conflicting their statements.  Also, in Terry's case there was actual physical evidence putting him at the conference, corroborating the eyewitness statements.  I don't think the word of a cop is stronger than physical evidence, but maybe that's just me.
