Dividing the show up by character was kind of weird, but in theory it made it easier to just fast forward through those you don't care about. I say in theory because I'm too lazy to do it.

Max was crazy last episode for running into the toxic room, but he was trying to save people, and likely did stop that vat of poison from leaking onto more people. Saying he doesn't deserve custody for that would mean saying anyone who works as a cop or firefighter shouldn't have custody because they run into danger. Or people in the military. Which is obviously crazy, people need to do those jobs, even though it means risking their life.
Max's wife was sick the whole time she was pregnant, I don't remember why. Then she had to give birth at home and I think, Bloom, who had just gotten out of rehab had to deliver the baby. But I believe Georgia died because a car ran into the ambulance taking her to the hospital after. I don't think it was Max's fault at all (unless I am forgetting a key detail).
Running into danger is actually the job of cops and firefighters. They signed up for that life. It isn't the job of a medical director. It was super careless of Max to wade into the poison and try to stop the leak with a hoodie (not to mention stupid), but that doesn't make him an unfit parent.
The ambulance with Max's wife and Bloom in it was hit by someone that escaped from the hospital. Max might have done some stupid crusading that made the escape possible. I really can't remember. Bad decisions driven by a need to do good are on brand for Max, but I don't think they went there.

I got that it was a code right away, I've seen enough TV, but in theory 9th and 11th could intersect in many larger cities where there are numbered avenues and streets and one set runs one direction and the other runs parallel. Two cities where the Streets vs Avenues happens are NYC and LA. In NYC 9th Ave splits into Hudson and Greenwich a couple of blocks before W 11th St. and 11th Ave turns into West St before hitting 9th St so there's still not an intersection of 9th and 11th, but it isn't because of basic street grids. LA is more fucked up about it because our streets bend in weird directions and stop to start a few blocks later and other stupid crap, not to mention we also have #th Ave and Avenue # -- I don't think the numbers overlap for those, but I don't know/care. The last time I took an Uber Pool I was super late because there was confusion between 6th Ave and 6th St or something similar because the low numbers for those all go through Ktown and it was maddening. Anyway, I know LA fairly well and I wouldn't immediately think 9th and 11th don't intersect, but I would know enough of where to look for them to do it (within 5 miles of my house). So depending on how well crazy dude knows Manhattan he could have thought it was viable as there nearly is that intersection. Also, I don't think Iggy lives in Manhattan, he seems like he lives further out, I know streets in Queens are a tangle, but I don't know enough on the names and set up in all the boroughs to comment.
Max wasting the vaccines was so Max. Penny smart pound foolish. It's kind of funny that he's pretty much the exact wrong combination of myopic and big picture to tackle things strategically.
I'm not saying Max is the world's number one dad, but I was so mad when he gave up on custody so easily at the beginning of the episode just because they made the grandma such an asshole. I can't remember, but I don't think Max was even indirectly responsible for his wife dying, except I guess he could be the reason they moved to NYC and maybe it could be tenuously argued that set the dominos in motion, but I can't remember if they moved there for his job or if they were already there.

I wonder why the Coliseum normally wouldn't have been an option. Tons of stuff films there and I think the pricing is actually quite reasonable. Maybe it was during football season -- I'm not sure if they were allowing filming Aug-Dec while the stadium was hosting both USC and the Rams, as the schedule was pretty booked.

Plus flying commercial would have meant adding another 1+ hour drive from the airport to where they were staying at in Lake Tahoe. Flying private (assuming they flew into Lake Tahoe airport as opposed to Ren-Tahoe Airport) would only be a 20 min drive, maximum.
I'm a poor so I fly commercial when I fly up to Tahoe for family vacations (my dad has a few cabins up there). I always fly into Reno. It's a short enough and cheap enough flight from LA, but I hate the drive from Reno to Tahoe and hate it even more when I'm leaving and worried about catching my flight. It's a long ass drive depending on the snow situation.

I don't think it needs repeating or even saying, but this show is so stupid.
Why exactly does everyone fear Townsend? We keep hearing how scary he is, but he's a joke. Sure he's crazy, but the punching bag thing is so stupid. Like this not-sleeping fool really has it in him to beat the shit out of people? Red'll tell you a long story and then shoot you in the head, that seems worse.
What's with all the close-ups on Lizzie's face while she's monologuing? That's new this season, right? Is it because of COVID or is it supposed to highlight how expressive her wooden face is? It is driving me nuts. I can't pay attention when the screen is just her face and then I get distracted or fall asleep and have to rewind and it drags the show out to multiple hours.
Edited to add: Was Townsend the one that took the bottom of that guy's face off? Because that was actually scary and would totally build street cred.

I'm only 7 minutes in and fuck Liz for blaming her sister's death on Red. That was only last week, so I still remember that it was 100% her fault. Her whole self righteous rant is bullshit.
And now she's yelling at the driver to get them out of there while someone is shooting at them. No shit. I doubt he was planning on just hanging out. She really is a mastermind.

Liz is so dumb. She makes stupid move after stupid move, getting everyone around her killed, and I'm sure in her mind this is still all Reddington's fault. I realize he's a dick and never gives enough info, but if she'd just listen to him the bodies wouldn't be piling up so high around her.
I forgot this was a show I watch and got more than 6 episodes behind, so I had to pay $1.99 to watch Captain Kidd so I could catch up. I guess Lizzie isn't the only dumb one.

Toddlers being kicked out of daycare for being toddlers is a symptom of how terrible the whole system is. Probably low paying jobs that have little staff and poor training. The irony is, if the daycare staff is low paid and poorly trained, that's actually a problem Max could fix since it was onsite daycare and he runs the hospital.

Given the situation, them taking her home for a night because he was in the hospital, especially given that they have been caring for her for the past year and still babysit on a regular basis, probably wouldn't be of interest to the legal system. Agreed. If they try to keep her while this is in court without a temporary order of custody, I think it is even worse for them having taken her across state lines. If I know anything from watching TV, once you do that it's a federal issue.

I've decided this is a show about Max's undiagnosed mental issues and about Iggy being too shitty at his job to realize it. What sane person would do what Max did and stand in a waterfall of hazmat trying to ineffectually save everyone? It falls right in line with his savior complex and was as ineffectual as all his other solutions have been, this time it was just super dangerous. Regarding him flailing with a sledgehammer busting walls, didn't this hospital have an asbestos problem? Or was that some other shitty medical show?
I might not have been paying good attention, but did the grandparents really flee the state with Luna? Or were they getting a hotel and keeping her in NY for the night? As others have said, Max needs to get a place with rooms and have a live-in nanny. He can afford it. He should also be having his groceries delivered. Sit down for 10 minutes after Luna goes to bed, order that shit on your phone, and have it scheduled so it is waiting at your door when you wake up in the morning. If he can take the time to order take out he can take the time to order eggs and milk. He can afford the extra in mark-up, fees, and tip. There are also meal kit and meal delivery services. This is stupid. People in NYC have shit delivered all the time. For real, worst case he could have Postmated some waffles while waiting for his in-laws to show up (having waffles delivered to your house in the morning is not hard, I've done it while drunk). But he probably has a problem with the Postmates business model -- I'm surprised we haven't seen him take it on yet. But we know he knows about couriers because he used them to deliver opioids. I guess this just goes along with Max not knowing how to delegate and having to take all tasks on himself.
All in all, I think Max could really use a therapist (not Iggy). Or maybe even just a life coach. Inyala needs to fix this mess.

One time it was just as simple as my surgeon decided he wanted to operate so we went into his office to check his schedule and figure out when to do it.

The whole thing had an air of shoehorning a storyline into this for "intersectional" points, though. It happens in every "period piece" these days.
I wasn't buying the whole news media aspect until I remembered the Texas cheerleader case and how it was national talk in the early days of cable news. I even remember jokes on late night talk shows. Still, it seems a bit over the top.
But gay and trans bashing was still semi-prevalent in the 90s, especially in small towns in conservative states. Matthew Shepard was in 98. Brandon Teena was in 93. I could see not wanting to be out as a teen in a small Texas town in the 90s. I'm 5 months older than Jeanette, we didn't have anyone openly gay at our high school in my mid-sized hometown just outside of Los Angeles.

So the question is is the writing actually decent and they are weaving in this arc without blatantly spelling it out or is the writing really bad and he's a caricature. I can't decide which is more plausible.

I just had a thought. What if Max’s increasingly manic flailing and ridiculous solutions to huge issues is actually a season long story arc about his psychological response to all the traumas he’s faced and been unable to control and/or solve he’s had cancer, his wife has died, he’s been a medical worker during covid, wasn’t there some hostage situation at the hospital, etc. and now he’s spiraling out of control and eventually someone is going to realize that this isn’t typical Max Goodwin savior syndrome but that he needs help. You’d think that Iggy would be the one to notice, but he’s really shitty at his job, so maybe someone else.

I turned off the show as soon as Max said he was going to fix global warming. I just can't anymore with his manic crusade of the week, bouncing around from cause to cause with insulting and implausible solutions and just being unlikable and unreasonable and a pretty shit leader. Is it worth turning back on to watch the episode?

Seeing the new sign right above the BLM floor painting made me LOL. I wonder how long it will be until that lobby is renamed the Max Goodwin White Savior Hall of Virtue Signaling.
At this point I am certain the writers are trolling progressives.
