  1. I have not watched the episode yet, but had to post because I'm so excited.  I didn't even know there was going to be a season 2 and I just got the email from Netflix saying it was there to watch.  Happy birthday to me!

Mr. EB's office is in San Francisco and they have an open concept office. It's very popular in tech because it's supposed to encourage collaboration and spontaneous brainstorming, but I know I would HATE it. A few years ago, they took it a step further and moved to no one having a permanent desk. There are just a bunch of desks in an open space and it's first come, first served. No one wanted to do it, but HQ insisted that once they did it, everyone would love it. They were wrong, and it only got worse a year ago when COVID started becoming a thing. They were supposed to wipe down their desks each morning before using them but it became a really crucial thing to stop the spread of cooties. I was like SEE? THIS IDEA IS TERRIBLE!

This is the worst thing I've ever heard.  I work in tech (LA, not SF) so I've always worked in open floor plan offices.  It was a banner day for me when I became management and got an office and could get off the floor because I would get murderously ragey over noises.  Like at one point in time my desk was next to the game room.  I'd be all stressed out on a tight deadline and it would enrage me to hear people playing Rockband or pinball while I was trying to work.  I worked at one office where we all had laptops so we could move around, but we still all had desks.  It was so we could go sit out in the courtyard and collab or work in a meeting room or whatever.  At one point my desk was a folding table under the stairs outside a conference room (we were out of room and I was the last hire), so I was always getting angry and picking up my laptop and storming out.  The last straw for me on that one was one time Fifty Cent's body guards were hanging out at my desk and I was like I cannot fucking work in these conditions and flipped out so my boss claimed an office as his own and gave me his desk.  Another time I had to yell at actual pimps to shut up because I was on a conference call.  That office was fun, it was actually CTU from 24, so one of our conference rooms was the Keifer Kube.  But anyway, I am familiar with dumb and crazy offices and not having desks is just unfathomably stupid.

Think of pronouns as similar to someone's name. Whatever they tell you to use is what you use, regardless of whether it aligns with their appearance or what you expect. I'm not being snarky either. It's a lot easier to just accept that this is what they feel comfortable with. I don't think it's much different than someone named William asking to be called Billy or even a middle name. I've become friends with people and then found out months or years later that the name they go by is neither their first nor middle name. They just decided that this other name fit them better so that's how they introduce themselves (as opposed to "my legal name is John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt but please call me Barney").

I just had this EXACT argument with someone a couple of weeks ago.

The company is very strangely organized. Each floor has people from different functional areas, and then an executive director over all of them? It would make more sense if there was a director of all the programmers (across all floors) and a director of all marketing people (across all floors), etc. Maybe that is how tech companies work, but it seems weird and inefficient.

I noticed none of the women participated in the song too. I'm hoping they eventually get something to do though.

Was this the first time we didn't see a song that Zoey supposedly heard? Max noticed her reacting and guessed she heard him sing, but we didn't see it at all.

I've worked in both a studio model and a matrix organization (and the studio was under the matrix), so nothing surprises me in terms of org charts.  When I worked in a studio model I was the technical leadership for my studio.  I ran the day to day and was the direct supervisor of all technical employees in that studio.  Then my direct manager was our office's SEVP/GM, but I had a dotted line to the SVP or EVP of tech at our headquarters in NY (I'm in LA).  For a while I directly reported to just the guy in NY when our GM was laid off and they were in the process re-orging.  I also had a business counterpart in my studio and although we ran our studio, his boss was ultimately responsible for the studio.  Our studio had QA and CS and marketing, etc. and while they all dotted lined to us for day to day management, they directly reported to the head of QA or CS or marketing, etc.

What really bothered me though was the specific tasks Zoey was working on and delegated to programmers.  They were not things that someone in her position, a programmer, or an accountant would do.  They were all tasks that would go to an office manager/floor manager (food bar, community service days, softball, holiday decorations), and depending on if the suggestion box was from staff of customers it would either go to the office manager, HR, or customer service.  You wouldn't have someone as highly paid and with a specific skill set, like programmers, do any of that, it is a waste of money.  And you surely would not have someone running the whole show doing it either, as again, it is a waste of money.  Thins are different when it is a smal company and everyone chips in, but this company has multiple floors in a building, they would have an office manager, if not a floor manager.  I could see some kind of admin staff also taking on the tasks if there wasn't a business operations team.  Also, speaking of admin staff, why doesn't Zoey have an assistant or at least a shared assistant or a coordinator?

All that being said, it seems like no one on the writing team has worked in a good sized office.

I didn't think Zoey actually heard Max singing.  I thought she could tell he was being jealous and didn't want to deal with it.  I thought her being all cagey about what was being sung was her lying.

  5. I don't normally watch sitcoms, but I think this show is pretty funny.  I'm slightly involved in LA politics though, so my view might be skewed because I can relate to certain things.  Like I don't have a council parking pass, but I have a city hall pass and there was much drama involved.

No doubt!  Everybody loves a 47-yr old's blue-veined bewbs spilling out of a top from the junior's department.

It's not the boobs spilling out that bug me, although, they are on the limit of what the top can hold.  For me it is that the runched cups were obviously made for much smaller breasts, so they are just hanging empty from the front of her boobs like weird saggy bags.

I felt the same way.  But I really liked S3.

Thanks for the encouragement.  I watched it and I liked it.  At this point I think I'm appreciating that you can watch each season as a standalone.

  8. I couldn't pay enough attention to keep track of what was happening and how they kept ending up in different places, but I think that problem was me and not the show.  It was very pleasing visually, so I think I'll give it another shot and rewatch this episode to see if I can pay better attention.

I liked it. It's only slightly connected to the first 2 seasons, but was much easier to follow.

Thanks!  I'll give it a shot.  I liked season 1 for the most part, but it seems like season 2 was kind of all over the place.

  10. I'm still not sure I'm going to watch season 3.  If I do and I'm confused maybe I'll go back and watch 2.  But then again, given this show, maybe there will be no continuity between 2 and 3 to worry about.

I'm officially renaming the tuque I've been knitting for the past nine months (I lost motivation when it came time to attach a second ball of yarn - I basically turned into Katie and was too lazy to get up and get the second ball and spit splice it together) and that has sat as a pretty objet d'art in its maple wood yarn bowl on my entertainment center since then from The Tuque of Doom to Jax Taylor, for it shall forever be a WIP and never a FO. Which is kinda sad because it's a pretty lavender colour and is a nice alpaca/merino blend. 💟✝️🙏

How small are your balls/how big is your head?

Well, that's interesting.  Wonder what prompted that, since they were all buddy/buddy at the wedding and were going to get a PJ ride to a vacation of their choice, weren't they?  Looks like his other claim to fame, Lance Bass, has also cut him loose as a business partner.  Wonder if it's over the session that he paid for that Mr. "I'm a Work in Progress" didn't show up for.  And I'm going to assume Rand paid for a GOOD therapist, that was probably charging $500 an hour (or was the amount mentioned).

Jax is burning so many bridges that he should change his name to River Kwai.

I might be pulling this from my ass, but I thought someone said $600

LOL! Are you from Canada or France? 🙂 I had to look up tuque! 🥰

You might be more familiar with toque as I believe that is the more common spelling outside of Canada.  (I might have more than one book on hat design and the history of hats)

I'm sure Stassi's spending far exceeds the wealth of her family. if they were divorced I doubt anyone supports her in her 30s.  Living in Los Angeles wealthy is a lot different than having a nice home in New Orleas, but who knows she could be loaded.  I didn't get that vibe from the mom.

I don't think she comes from a very wealthy family.  If I remember correctly, she used to drive a Toyota Solara in the early seasons of the show.  That is not a rich kid car.  That's a soccer mom convertible.

I don't think Stassi's home is overpriced, I think she has no idea what it will take to keep a place like that in good condition over the years.  Frankly I think the Tom's were sorta smart to go with their new farmhouses, yes they totally lack charm...but they are roomy and current and probably will make money if the real estate market stays relatively stable.  I don't think Jax and Brittany were smart, because I don't think their earning potential is long term. The Toms' have the bar...and will somehow make it work.

I believe my house is about the same age as Stassi's (90ish years old) and it is the same style.  The upkeep isn't horrendous.  I'm also not sure where in the Hollywood Hills she lives, but I don't think she has to worry about her house gaining in value.  It is a decent house in LA.

Also, isn't that a $2.1 million home?  Hope she has an extra $21,000 lying around - because that's going to be her annual property tax bill.

Property taxes are usually paid with your monthly mortgage, at least in California.  You get the property tax bill and feel shitty about how big it is, but it just comes out of your escrow account, you don't even write the check.  I'm not sure if they even send the bills anymore, I don't remember seeing mine for the last few years.  They might be saving paper and costs and just dealing directly with my mortgage company now and leaving me out of the loop.  Unless you are not carrying a mortgage, then you have to pay the bill.

Watch for Willow being a match. Just an educated guess.

Can babies even donate kidneys?  Aside from the ethical issues around informed consent (this is Billions, so obviously ethics do not apply), would a baby kidney be "strong" enough for an adult?

It's just this weird Hollywood trend of shlubby guys punching way above their weight.

Is it so weird given who is in power in Hollywood and who is in writers rooms?

As for Chuck, he arguably has money and power, both of which some women find attractive.  So in general an argument can be made for him getting some women that seem out of his league, but the show hasn't demonstrated that those are the women he is getting. I can't remember if Wendy already had money when they met, but she doesn't seem like a gold digger, so maybe she was attracted to his ambition and/or power?  I know we were shown a flashback for Wendy and Chuck, but i care so little about them I can't remember shit.  With the new professor she might be intrigued by his openness about his kink, not realizing that it was a last ditch effort to stop some calamity.

I had forgotten about that. Georgia also had one. But what struck me as weird is that they were all displaying expensive electric guitars. Jenna had a Fender Stratocaster hanging dead center behind her, which is a) not cheap, and b) not typically used by amateur singers. Parker had several, including a Gibson Les Paul which is, again, normally seen in the hands of a lead guitarist in a band. Maybe there's a slight chance Parker is in a garage band for fun, though I don't think he mentioned it. But Jenna? Not likely.

So I guess they hang them on the wall and whip them out to impress friends during sing-alongs or something. It's not wrong to have fine instruments but for people of their <cough>abilities<cough> it's a bit unusual.

And what's the likelihood of three crew members all being aspiring singers? Why, one would almost think they were using a reality TV show as a stepping stone to...

Sorry. That was a ridiculous thought. It would never happen. I'm sure they're all devoted yachties. 😜

I have several ex-boyfriends that would disagree.  It's not like a basic Strat is a $50k guitar.  As for our yachties, for people making $1500 in tips for 3 days, dropping $1-2k on a guitar isn't a big deal.

I feel like the only person that watches the show that hates Madison. I think she's a bitch. She is constantly angry about something. I read somebody tweeted that they hoped she would be chief still, if she is, I'll never watch it. I didn't think Georgia was a whole lot better. I feel like the younger ones don't like to be told anything.

I didn't like the way Georgia in Madison kept sniping about Jenna. She is in perfect, but they seem to hate being told what to do.

Madison is a fucking martyr.  I haven't posted anything because it's hard to care about this shitty show and I'm always weeks behind.  I don't doubt Jenna was right about Madison running around like the busiest person ever and never getting anything done because she was inefficient and too busy complaining.  I recognize it.  I feel kind of bad talking shit about her though because as others have pointed out, at least some of it is unresolved issues from her sister's murder bubbling up.
