They fake a lot of stuff on Bravo, but what I find most insulting is the idea that screaming arguments at SUR, TomTom, etc., are bad for business.

So I toyed with the idea of going to Stassi's book event at TomTom.  I was like I'm not super busy and it'll be entertaining.  But then I saw that I had to go to the Grove and buy her book for a wristband and that seemed like too much work and then I thought about standing in line outside TomTom waiting to get in and I think maybe it was hot that week and my level of commitment was far below two different 15 minute trips from my house, buying a book, parking in WeHo, and standing in a line, so I noped out.  This fight made me a little sad I was so lazy.

No Carb Charlie seems to be especially vapid—not to mention a damn liar. I’m sure your parents NEVER made you spaghetti or Mac and cheese as a kid. Give me a break. And don’t even get me started on her hellacious vocal fry. Nails on a chalkboard.

I hated pasta as a kid, especially mac and cheese.  My mom was very annoyed about this.  I would eat spaghetti and lasagna once I was about 13 or 14, but it had to be fresh pasta.  I became more accepting of pasta as an adult, but I don't think I ate mac and cheese until I was in my 30s because that shit grossed me out and then finally I tried it and it was amazing.  I also refused to eat at McDonald's from about 3 or 4 until about 16.  There were other standard kids items that I wouldn't eat -- I was probably a pain in the ass for my mom, but I started cooking for myself really young, so maybe that made up for it 🤷‍♀️

I'm so glad many posters here have been sharing their what I find humorous burns. I find myself feeling frustrated with the show and fast forward or just stop watching.

You are confusing two topics.  The troll was a poster, and the scones were about disagreeing about whether or not Kate had been exceptionally mean to Kate.  I don't think anyone wants to respect the unfunny puns and sexists comments.

IDK.  I think his general dislike of people is about the normal level of someone that works in retail.  If I'm remembering correctly all of the men we've seen him kill have been secondary to an obsession with a woman (they got in the way) -- except Hendy, but that was to "protect" a woman and in service to him being a nice guy.  If you are a woman and dare have your own agency and go against the narrative that he's created in his head, you're dead (or at least assaulted and buried alive).  He talks all this woke bullshit, but women are things to him, props to move around while he's playacting at being the romantic hero.

When love said "Like shit?" I was hoping she had actually used shit. And then when she listened to his explanation and said "That's what makes this so hard" I hoped she had Candace hiding in the room and had put something to knock him out in the cake. Seriously, though, have him investigated. There's proof he went on more than one date with Beck.

The 7 Totems of LA should have been mentioned earlier instead of all crammed into this episode. And now I shall be researching how often palm trees catch on fire.

I doubt the donuts can't be beat. Does Joe not know the magical power of a Krispy Kreme with the Hot Donut sign on?

I recognized the husband as the guy from Switched at Birth who catfished Emmett.

I've lived in LA for almost 25 years and So Cal all my life.  I don't think I've ever seen a palm tree on fire just randomly.  If they do catch and are not well maintained they go up like a mofo, which is one reason why all the illegal fireworks are so dangerous.

Donut Man and their seasonal fruit donuts is a real thing and is way better than Krispy Kreme.

I loved this season so much! I have one question though, do we assume that Love killed/poisoned her husband because he didn't want children? Now that we know she's capable of it I don't think I believe he was just "sick" and died.

I think the conversation showed that he didn't want children because he was sick.

  7. I don't think turning this into "an attack on [her] personal sense of safety" exonerates her as well as she thought it would.

Also, she liked this sweater enough to wear it for what was undoubtedly a "photo shoot" for her blog, so I question her judgement in general.

I know they mentioned a birthday celebration but did they ask for a birthday cake?  So rainbow cookie cake and a birthday cake?  And don't both typically have dairy?

Typically, but dairy free baking is pretty easy, especially these days.  About 15 years ago I used to bake vegan treats for a guy and the dairy was easy, the egg was always the hard part, but I think that even that has readily available substitutes these days.

So with lunch it wasn't just the pizza, one of the starters was a giant bowl of burrata.  Not only did it disregard the preference sheets, but it was a serving bowl with what looked like two 1lb balls of cheese in it, which with burrata seems like an awkward way to serve it.  Mr. Dobson is an idiot.

  9. I grew to like Forty, so I was ind of sad to see him shot.  Something was kind of off about Love the whole way through, but I kind of want to rewatch knowing the end to see if it was obvious what her deal was if you knew.  I like Love and Joe being crazy soulmates, but of course as soon as he gets what he wants he doesn't want it.  I'm surprised Joe hasn't been caught yet though, he's really bad at realizing cell phone location can be tracked by the police.

Do people still get written up for jaywalking?

Yes, usually where there's been pedestrian deaths.  Unfortunately they will usually do jaywalking stings instead of focusing on the motorists.  At least from what I have seen in and around LA -- especially in the valley.  I've seen it around schools too.  I think a jaywalking ticket in California is around $250.  The street it was portrayed on in the middle of the night isn't a place I would expect it as it wasn't high traffic, but I think the cop was using it more as a stop and frisk situation.

I'm assuming the grocery store is based on/making fun of Erewhon.  I used to work with the owner's son maybe 15 years ago and asked what the name meant and I remember he said it was nowhere backwards, except it isn't and something about a book.  It's like a more pretentious, way more expensive, and more organic indie Wholefoods.   I can't shop there, it's too kale-y and too expensive for me.  (The son was actually a cool guy and not like Forty).

  14. Not going to touch on the Ashton/Kate/Tanner mess.  Everyone else has already said it.

I don't care if Ashton is a dick, I still cannot stand Rhylee and think she is her own worst enemy.  If she wasn't such a pain in the ass to be around and talk to, she would be treated better.  How is having to use bowline knots "unfair to [her]"?  It's pretty fucking standard.  As a programmer working in a department of programmers I've had to adhere to coding standards.  Back when I wasn't the one setting the standards I had to do what the boss wanted I couldn't just flip out and screech that it was unfair to me that we had to use spaces instead of tabs or whatever, or I'd be looking for a new job.  Jobs everywhere in all industries have standards that are set by your boss that you have to follow.  If you can't tie a bowline get out your phone and google it and practice, I'm sure it wouldn't take any time to learn.  Plus, isn't there some little pocket book of knots they all have anyway?  It seems like we've seen the deckhands practicing knots before and using a little book -- maybe it was Bobby and Malia?

I can't stand people that blame the likes of alcohol for their actions well if you are a miserable drunk then dont drink also it tends to show what a person is really like and from what we have seen on this show these women do drink way to much and are very ugly inside.

Wow these women think because they have been on the show longer they are something special and means others are not on the same level come on grow up no wonder their kids want nothing to do with a lot of these people.

Every one of these women are just so dumb and to think a bunch of them are suppose to have advanced education makes you wonder if they cheated or paid someone to get it for them.

Vicki is a con women she knew about brooks but because she loved him she would do anything for him but what you expect she sells insurance which we all know is a big con in itself.

Notice how she gets jealous if others make something of themselves.

Shannon is so full of herself she would of still been with David if not on the show I think based on what I have seen she would of kept holding on to him letting him get away with things because she is one of those people cant cope being alone plus the show is what has gotten her name etc out their without it she is a nobody.

The other thing with her is clearly is not healthy she gets hurt easily and now has UTI come on yes she has lost weight but not healthy and I agree with Kelly every little thing Vicki is the same it's like it's end of the world maybe it's the drink.

Kelly is all over the place but love that she calls out all their bs if only she had a brain she could rip these women apart in an intellectual way.

I was assuming Shannon's UTI was because she's so fun and having so much sex with her new guy.

So Tamra's "look at how Kelly sits there and twitches her lips" was another dug accusation, no?  It was hilarious when they cut to a clip of Kelly just sitting there with her lips completely still.

I was a little disappointed in the other women for hem hawing in their talking heads when asked if LeAnne is a racist. I wonder if when some of them see the footage for the first time (that were not real time witnesses to the comments) they will feel differently. The words she said were bad enough... but her delivery leaves no room for doubt regarding her intentions.

I'm not saying she's not a bigot, but she's also kind of an equal opportunity asshole, so maybe without seeing the footage they thought that's what was going on, or they just don't want to commit to such strong words as racist/bigot on camera even if they feel that way.  This being Bravo, she could somehow weasel out of it at the reunion and leave the ones calling her out looking like the assholes.  I guess also they didn't know if it was all just going to be edited out.

Enlighten me.  Is Texas NOT a community property state?  Did Kary sign a prenup?  Does the prenup nullify sharing any money earned after the marriage?

If they divorce, wouldn't she get half of the money earned during the marriage?

Kary has talked about her prenup repeatedly.  According to her she gets nothing and all the wealth is in Eduardo's family trust.  It is possible if he works for the family business that a lot of their belongings and expenses are covered through the business or the trust and he collects a very small salary, so the proceeds of the marriage are minimal.  We already know all the real estate is owned through the trust.

    14 hours ago, Sterling said:

The $5+ million home that Stephanie and Travis live in is in both of their names.

The homes on the show that are owned by family trusts are just that.....family trusts.  D'Andra and Jeremy's home is owned by her family's trust, as is the home that Kary and Eduardo live in.  This does leave both Jeremy and Kary vulnerable in the event of divorce.

Then again, if the home is not in Kary's (or Jeremy's) name, there is no liability for the mortgage, should financial difficulties befall the party responsible for its payment.  But there is no equity to be shared either, in the event of a sale.

What does seem clear is that Kary is having difficulties in her marriage, and unfortunately, I think we'll see this play out in the near future.

I'm assuming the Redmond house is in both Brandy & Brian's names.  I don't care about LeAnne and Rich's condo.  I wonder about Cam's house.  I'm assuming that one is own by the Wescott family trust.

Oh LeaAnn said something about her jewelry? Maybe that's why Kary was pissed off, then. I guess that makes sense. It seems like Kary went way more on about LeaAnn's product than LeaAnn did about hers, but if she did that in response to what LeaAnn said about her jewelry, then I get it more.

IDK. LeaAnn shouldn't have said what she said, but of all the things you can say to insult someone, IMO, ethnicity is not the most insulting. At least, it's not to me. If anything, I'd be like, "Really? You've spent all this time with me and my ethnicity is all you got? I must be doing pretty good, then!" bc in my mind, there's much deeper shit you could insult someone about.

IDK. In my mind, in order to really insult someone, you gotta really touch on something they're insecure about. At least, that's how it is for me. I have a lot of insecurities, but my ethnicity is simply not one of them. So, if someone insulted that, I wouldn't even care, I'd be more amused than anything else.

Very easy to say when you are of Western European heritage and most likely present as white and live in the modern age.  Your ethnicity gives you privilege.  That's like saying you wouldn't be upset if someone called you rich.

I appreciate your inquisitiveness on this subject and your desire to discuss it further with friends. What I will say, as I’ve tried to note before, is these issues are complex. I can’t give you easy answers to the questions you asked and I think it’s hard for anyone to get a “firm grip” on the issues without more reading and independent thinking. Given that economic theory should be focusing on privilege because our economy perpetuates and holds up privilege, I would love for you to read more. I’m going to post a couple of very basic articles that I think might help. They are  Privilege 101 and I think it’s important to recognize, as one article points out, that examining privilege is its own area of theory and study. These are by no means complete or even the best out there. They’re just a starting point.

    https://everydayfeminism.com/2014/09/what-is-privilege/

    https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/feeling-our-way/201702/the-privilege-not-understanding-privilege?amp

Also, to more directly answer questions on prostitution and sex work, I think this analysis of Amsterdam is useful. It tackles some of the questions you asked about race and sex work, but it also highlights very clearly how privilege manifests within the sex industry.  For instance, it is much more common for non-Dutch women to work with pimps, which, dependent on the relationship with the pimp, complicates the notion of consent.

    https://www.humanityinaction.org/knowledge_detail/the-exotic-other-in-prostitution-ethnic-fault-lines-in-amsterdams-sex-industry/

“Most women will tell you that they work for themselves and legally this is true. When a sex worker registers with the local municipality, she or he is treated as an independent business owner by the government. In reality, however, many women are working for a pimp. This is especially true of the two-thirds non-Dutch sex worker population.“

It is very kind of you to do all this emotional labor.

Egads, where to start with this episode? First the positives:

    4. Glad that little baby is OK. 5 weeks early is actually not too terrible, not sure why there was SO much fuss and concern for the little one. My nephew was born about 12 weeks early - that was a real cause for concern.

Now the negatives (or at least the depressings...):

    2. Speaking of Cain...The most depressing warehouse full of brain dead patients. I know it's a show but my heart hurt when I saw that. I knew as soon as Cain started telling the daughter that they were moving the mom to facility (and then lied to Bell to say that it was also on the family's request) that this was bad news. And I had to suspend belief - IRL, there would be paperwork to fill out, a variety of facilities to choose from, family visits to the facility, etc. But, has anyone else seen the movie "Coma" from the 70's I think? That's what it reminded me of. And it bummed me out to no end.

    3. Can Mena's friend be OK, and just stop this storyline? We don't need Mena juggling a baby and a tough career, I like this show better when it's focused on the cases and hospital stuff, less personal stuff (I can watch Gray's for the soap opera aspect1)

    See ya in 3 weeks!

I think I was 9 weeks premature and even in the 70s it wasn't that big of a deal.  My biggest hardship was having to wear doll clothes for the first part of my life because they didn't make real baby clothes small enough.  I think at most that baby might have needed oxygen and an incubator for a bit, but it wouldn't be like "OMG, let's keep the baby in as long as possible."  It was stupid last week when they were acting like that too, because wasn't she already pretty far along last week?  I'm not sure how much time has passed.

I super do not want to see Mena raising a baby.  As much as I want this storyline over, I've been dreading it because I fear it's going to end up with Mena having a baby.

Re the veg farm, wouldn't as least one family come to visit and be outraged?  I know most families probably wouldn't, but there's going to be that one person that insists on it and blow the whole thing.  I'd like to think there are surprise inspections from the state for certification, but probably not.

Real world Wilshire Division would be further west into Mid City, when the name changed from South Wilshire in the first season to Mid Wilshire then that brings us to the northern part of  the real world Olympic Division area. Close to downtown  and to the north bordering on eastern Hollywood.

I remember the retired officer on the Southland forum stating that if a show wanted to stay in one divisional area the most diverse would be either North Hollywood or Wilshire Divisions. Wouldn't you know it when 9-1-1  premiered they were in North Hollywood  before showing up all over the county just like Emergency or 1 Adam-12  being in different areas than the "1" or Central Division placed them in.

But then since the LAPD doesn't have area identifying insignia like the NYPD does well only LA locals who notice that parallel streets are identified as cross streets and east and west running streets are identified as north and south, like South Wilshire Division of season one

The Wilshire Community station is located in Mid-City, but the boundaries include the neighborhood known as Mid-Wilshire.  In theory (based on DOT signage) the Olympic Community station is also located in Mid-City, as a Mid-City resident though, I think of that area as more Pico Union/Midtown.  I think the area you are thinking of as Mid-Wilshire is actually Wilshire Center, which I'm pretty sure is in the Olympic station borders.  I live in Mid-City, just south of Mid-Wilshire, and probably spend at least 10 hours a month at the Wilshire station, so I am familiar with the area and where the police station is located.  I am not as familiar with the crime stats for the Olympic division, but I know enough to know they are not constantly getting into shoot outs and transporting serial killers either.  There are really not a lot of police involved shoot outs in LA as a whole.  I believe you are correct that the community served by Wilshire is one of the most diverse in LA, but the census is coming up so those stats may change.
