  1. I don't know Anita, but I go to church with her father and he is absolutely the nicest, most sincere, most gentle man on the planet. Watching him on this program brought me to tears.
  2. Groovebook is the only Shark Tank item I've ever purchased and I loved it! My parents don't have iPhones, so it was a great way for me to snap pictures at family events and have the books printed for them. The books came quickly, and I was pleased with the quality -- until December. At first, I blamed the holidays for the delay, but since then the books have taken longer and longer each month, and the quality of the prints has decreased. I canceled my subscription yesterday, and I feel bad for recommending the books to so many of my friends and co-workers.
  3. I was with three girlfriends in Chicago for a shopping getaway weekend in 2000 and we saw Garth Brooks shopping in Nike Town. He was all alone so I "accidentally" bumped into him and he was the nicest guy ever. He ended up talking with the four of us for a while and taking pictures....we offered to take just one group picture so as not to call attention to him, but he insisted on individual pictures. Then he asked us to be his guests at his concert the next night! He told us to get there at 4:00 for an 8:00 show, and we were able to watch sound check and meet the band....then we hung out in his dressing room with him for a while just chatting before he had to get ready. The people at the venue brought around plates of fancy snacks for him and he offered us food....then he told us he'd rather have pizza than that fancy stuff....when we agreed, he called his assistant in and had her order a bunch of pizzas for us and the band. He was the most gracious host ever, and honestly I felt like my friends and I were celebrities and he was our fan - he just was constantly making over us and checking if there was anything we needed. And the people who worked for him kept coming up to us saying "you must be the girls from Nike Town!" That was cool knowing that he'd told people about us. Also, in person, he has the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. My friends and I took tons of pictures.....with him, of his dressing room, etc.....and I still occasionally get asked to show the pictures and share the story of my Garth night...lol.
  4. Just a little trivia for you . . . the guy who played bratty little Stillwell Angel is now the football coach at a local high school. The team had a rough year, and at some of the games the opposing team's fans would chant "You're gonna lo-ose." He sounds like a really good guy though....we have some friends in common and they all have good things to say about him, so hopefully his team will improve.
  5. This show is genius...man, I wish I was an Emmy voter!
  6. It's official -- in my home, this show has replaced Modern Family as our Wednesday night must-see! It feels fresh, funny, and smart, and is the show that my two teenagers and I will watch together and all enjoy. I like a show that can be poignant without being preachy, and one that shows positive relationships between different familial generations -- even when they're disagreeing, these people truly seem to like each other. Thank you, writers, for giving me a decent sitcom!
  7. Maybe I just missed something, but what was so special about the lady's online clothing business? Granted, the dresses were cute and very reasonably priced, but it looked just like any other store to me.
  8. When the parents were lying in bed and the dad was bragging about the success of his first sex talk and said "Who do I email about giving a TED sex talk?"....Congratulations, show, I am yours for the season!
  9. Sorry, I can't figure out how to quote, but in reference to bills being in Leah's name even though the girls are on Cory's insurance....that's how things are with my kids. They are covered under their dad's insurance plan, but because I'm the legal custodial parent - and the one who takes them to doctor appointments and signs the paperwork - all bills come to my house and are in my name; we are then supposed to split the bills. But when he has failed to pay his half it's me the bill collectors come after. And I wish Jo would have told Kail that Isaac could go on the trip on the condition that they switch holidays with him -- let Isaac be with Jo on Mothers Day. If there's a family get together on Fathers Day, there was probably one on Mothers Day as well....that way Jo could have a special family day with his son and Isaac could go on the trip. If Kail balked at giving up Mothers Day, then that's her problem.
  10. Very disappointed. I wanted this show to feature intelligent people who truly would work together to create a society. Instead, it was just Big Brother: Camping Edition. There's enough drama in real people working together to get things done -- why did the creators feel they had to cast the crazies?
  11. I forget which episode it was -- maybe Rory's first day at Chilton -- but Rory and Lorelai go into the headmaster's office and speak to his secretary. When she looks up from her desk, the viewer is apparently supposed to be startled at her unattractiveness and Lorelai makes a remark about the importance of taking off your makeup before bed. I adore The Gilmore Girls, but that scene has always bothered me.....that woman did nothing wrong, but it's apparently okay to make cracks about her looks because she wasn't beautiful like Lorelai and Rory. It just made Lorelai seem like a jerk, when through the rest of the season she wasn't judgmental and snotty like that.
