No, she's MILLENNIAL AF, remember??? It's strange, but I find their annoying characteristics hilarious. When Heidi introduced her, I think she said Maddie was a "fashion designer," which, eyeroll. Yes. Speaking of Michael Kors, it reminded me of a comment he made about an unfortunate red dress that was made of the same material and was about 10 times more wrinkled than last night's dress. He said the key to making dresses with that fabric is that it's supposed to look like human hands never touched it, but the red dress looked like 10,000 human hands touched it. I covered my eyes so I wouldn't be grossed out, but did one of the pins in Margarita's top stick her model in her lady parts so hard that she started bleeding? OUCH! I've seen models endure some painful things on PR, but I can't think of anything worse than that!

LOL,, and ditzy is the right word. I would NEVER voluntarily live in a 700-square-foot house with two grown men. I thought 700 square feet was too small for just the two men! Yes! I was excited to see what they did with the condo because I remember the original episode and loved the condo before they moved into it. But she spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to make that classy, stylish condo look terrible.

What a nightmare! And they paid $5,000 over asking for it! I sincerely hope they get approval to build that third floor. I would have to be committed if the city told me I couldn't live in an addition I spent $40K to build. With all that said, I'm glad they can at least live on the second floor for now and rent out the first floor. Typically I think these HGTV shows romanticize home renovation; they always make me want to buy a fixer-upper. However, this episode was like a bucket of cold water on that dream.

I agree. I liked her winning design well enough, but I didn't much care for her pre-show portfolio, and I don't like her wardrobe, either. For someone who is so dedicated to designing for plus-sized women, she doesn't seem to understand what looks good on them, imo. I was surprised by how many of these designers seemed to be living rather comfortably. Much different from the earlier days, with Christian Siriano sleeping in his closet and Fabio's "freegan" lifestyle.

I saw him at a competition a couple of years ago, and at that time he owned a studio in Birmingham, Alabama. Agree on all counts. Alfonso and Meryl were awesome. I never cared for Melissa's Latin dancing. I wish they would have given her a smooth/standard dance instead. Did Erin say Lil' Kim came in second in her season? Whoops, someone forgot to fact check. I enjoyed the show but agree that it could easily have been two hours.

What bugged me about this week's show is that the homeowner chose to spend her extra $2,500 on the front entrance and not extending the HVAC to the sunroom. I thought I saw a stove in the corner that I suppose could keep the room warm in the winter, but what's going to keep the room cool in the summer? Does she think her son will want to step foot in there between May and October? Also, kudos to daughter for letting mom have the master bedroom and bathroom!

This show is the ultimate display of first world problems. My boss says she imagines that people in other countries must hate us for the way HHs act and demand so much. However, I must admit I love this show, and I would actually like a lot of things these people require in a home. *hangs head in shame* My two biggest pet peeves that I didn't see mentioned are: When a HH complains about a house being too closed off or not having any or all of the holy trinity, and the realtor hand waves the complaint with a, "that's an easy fix." Excuse me, but since when is dropping thousands of dollars to install hardwood floors, knock down walls or replace countertops "easy!" It's worse when the house is close to the top of the HHs' budget. "I don't want to be forced to make a choice" as a reason for not liking a split level house. Huh? For the first eight years of my life, my grandparents lived an a split level, and I don't remember being traumatized by having to "make a choice" between going downstairs or upstairs. Plus, don't you pretty much know where you want to go when you enter a house? One more thing that's more of an observation than a pet peeve: Why do for sale houses in the LA area look so horrible? I'm thinking of putting my 11-year-old house up for sale, and it's in pretty good condition (I live alone with no pets, and I bought the house brand new), and my realtor suggested I make about $5,000 in upgrades and changes. Yet, when I watch some of these HH episodes that are set in LA, the houses look absolutely disgusting, like a hoarder who lived there for 30 years suddenly had to make a quick getaway. I guess LA is really a sellers market.

Good, if not great episode, IMO. For the second time this season, the dance of the night belonged to the crew. That was beautiful. Allison (oh, and Rudy, I guess) had the duet of the night for me. Every time I see her, I become a little more ashamed that she wasn't my favorite girl during her season. She is such a great dancer, and I'm looking forward to seeing her on DWTS this fall. Will! I agree with all who said he looks so much hotter with the dreds. And he was wonderful in his routine with Jessica. Thank you! I know a little about samba, but not nearly as much as Mary. After the samba routine was over and Cat went to Mary first, I thought, "Oh, good, she's going to confirm my belief that Valerie looked lost for a good quarter of that routine." Then Mary basically hand waves the awful samba walks and didn't mention the terrible voltas! Very irritating. And, yes, the complete ignoring of Ryan gets more bizarre every week. Why do they do that? Why does he keep showing up despite the disrespect? I hope the money is good. I'll add my voice the chorus of boos about Tanisha's elimination. She was by far the strongest, most versatile, most interesting female dancer there. The other three are boring and pale in comparison. Dang it! I just wept a little more for what could have been. Thank goodness for the guys; they are MUCH MORE interesting than the women. Ricky is now my favorite, and I love Zach, too. A few weeks ago, someone speculated that we were about the see the Melanie Mooreification of Jessica, and I fear he/she is right. The abundance of contemporary (or related) routines, the dearth of much else, overpraise, etc. It would be a shame if she won, especially if this is the show's last season. I don't know. Did I read somewhere that Ricky is cross-trained in Latin ballroom, or was that just Rudy? If Ricky has Latin experience, he could hold his own. I do agree that Anya is a force to be reckoned with, though. Totally agree. I guess your appreciation of the seasons depends on why you watch the show. I watch to see how well dancers do in styles other than their own. A good number of my favorite routines of all time came in that season from contestants dancing outside their comfort zones. I agree. I certainly understand and respect the opinions of those who don't separate the two. However, for me, it's difficult to deny Michael Jackson's influence on dance, so, in that context, I think it's appropriate for So You Think You Can Dance to dedicate a show to his music (not him). As for the show's connection to Wade, I thought Wade and the show parted ways years ago. Therefore, I don't think the producers needed to take Wade's lawsuit into account when deciding whether or not to do a MJ tribute show. I do have mixed feelings about the songs they chose. While I'm glad they used some unexpected songs, I'm a little disappointed that, other than "The Way You Make Me Feel," they didn't use any songs that I just loved. Thank you! I thought he said his name was Ricky, so I couldn't place him. Now that I know his name, I do remember him. And if we're talking about unappreciated dances, his and Karen's tango is very high on my list. Probably my favorite smooth ballroom dance ever on SYTYCD.

I actually liked Tara Lipinski, which is shocking because I've harbored a grudge against her since the '98 Winter Olympics. I do have a question though: A couple of people mentioned her lack of dance cred, but shouldn't she have had tons of ballet-based training, being a figure skater? I enjoyed all the dancing and agree that the All-Stars really forced the contestants to raise their game. Emilio/Jasmine had the routine of the night for me. Great dancing from both of them. My second favorite routine of the night was the opening number. Thanks, Jamal Sims, for avenging that terrible hip-hop number you choreographed back in season 6. I thought he stood out (in a good way) in his and Valerie's hip-hop routine and in the opening number this week. My thoughts on next week's dances: Tanisha/Nick Lazzarini- Should be good Valerie/Ryan DiLello- Trainwreck Rudy/Allison Holker-Boss- I'm afraid she'll wipe the floor with him. Jacque/TWitch- Trainwreck Ricky/Jaimie Goodwin- Lord, have mercy, that dance should be gorgeous! Casey/Comfort- Tranwreck Jessica/Will Wingfield- Yay! Can't wait to see Will. Zack/Makenzie- Should be good.

I had a feeling this was true about Tanisha, but last week another poster said she had more Latin ballroom training than anything else. It never looked like that to me at all. Not that she isn't competent in ballroom, but she looks like a contemporary dancer who can sell a ballroom dance pretty well. On to the show... My favorite dance of the night actually was the Academy of Villans crew dance. I thought it was fabulous. Faviorite duet of the night: Valerie/Ricky hip hop. I'm so surprised at how well they danced it, especially Ricky. I enjoyed the choreo as well. IMO the concept didn't take over; there was some real, honest to goodness hip-hop content in there, including the nae nae! I also enjoyed Emilio/Bridget's jazz (mostly Emilio), and Zach in the paso. Next week's pairings are very interesting. I predict six will be good to great and four will be mediocre to bad. Good to great: Zack and Amy Ricky and Lauren Tanisha and Ryan, althought I'm a little nervous about this one. So far, the only dance of hers I didn't love was her cha-cha the first week. Casey and Kathryn Jacque and Chehon Emilio and Jasmine- I hope this is hip hop, because isn't she several inches taller than he is? Mediocre to bad: Rudy and Jenna- I hope they get Latin ballroom, and I'm very curious to see how he does. I didn't know until I read upthread that he specializes in that. Bridget and Brandon, especially if they have disco. Her performance in this week's jazz doesn't give me confidence that she can handle it. Valerie and Ade Jessica and Twitch. I'm curious about this one. At first I thought they were ready to put Jessica out to pasture, but then someone mentioned Melanie Moore. Then I remember her and tWitch's hip-hop, which was awful yet inexplicably praised. Totally agree, and I speak from experience. I need to always know what my face is doing when I dance, or else I either look petrified or have a emotionless permasmile plastered on my face. Plus I agree with the poster upthread who said it felt like Christina was trying to discredit Misty, which I didn't like. I'm right there with you. I thought it was nice, but nothing outstanding. I kinda checked out on Season 9, so tonight was the first time I noticed how fine Cyrus is. He's gorgeous!

Thanks for correcting me on that. I guess I just don't like the way she dances Latin ballroom. She takes such long steps in cha-cha, she looks like so many of the contemporary women on this show when they're doing Latin ballroom routines. Or maybe I don't like the way Mark Ballas teaches, lol, because I remember your saying Lindsay was one of his students, and I didn't like the way she danced Latin ballroom, either. (And I still don't. I thought she was awful during the season she was a DWTS pro.) I've seen women their age (and younger) look way more polished, IMO. Thanks for correcting me. My memory may be fuzzy, too, but I thought I remembered him looking very strong in a jazz or contemporary piece, but crappy in the Latin dance they did. That's why assumed his specialty was jazz/contemporary.

I, too, would be sad if/when the show is cancelled. The comparison to American Idol is very apt for me. I, too, am more disconnected to the contestants, and I agree it's because these kids have grown up watching the show, so they approach it in a more calculated way. Therefore, the novelty that made both shows so special for me during the first 5 years of their existence is gone for me. However, unlike Idol, which I quit this year because it was boring the heck out of me, even when they had singers I liked, I still enjoy watching SYTYCD. I can't explain it, but for some reason, I don't need to be attached to dancers to be invested in the show like I need to be attached to at least one singer to enjoy Idol. Also, while I agree that some of the dancing (particularly the contemporary) looks samey, for some reason, that doesn't always bother me, either. Beyond that, I'm impressed that they've brought in some new choreographers who have, IMO, created some entertaining routines. I looked at the ratings and, oy!, but I wonder how many people watch this show a few days after it airs. (I know I always do.) In addition, it seems like a number of people watch the YouTube videos. I'm not sure those factors would help save it, but it seems to me that networks are paying a little more attention to those things than they used to. Now, on to the show. My favorite routines were: The Dave Scott hip hop (Tanisha and Rudy). Boy, did Tanish kill this. Misty was dead on in her critique, Tanisha was sexy without overdoing it, soft when she needed to be and hard when she needed to be. Like several of you, she initially annoyed me (I hate when people claim their specialty is one thing when they're much better in another), but she has been serving it every week this season. Best dancer of the night for me. The Travis contemporary (Emilio and Bridget). I knew from the description that it would be "Addiction lite," but that didn't bother me. I thought both dancers were excellent, and while it was no Addiction (my favorite SYTYCD dance of all time), I really enjoyed this. The Sonya jazz duet (Jacque and Zach). I agree with those who said these two have really good chemistry. Sorry if this is un-PC, but I was rooting for Marcquet largely because I, like him, am an African-American who studies ballroom dancing. (Sorry, but there are not that many of us!) That said, he deserved to go this week. I'd like to see him on DWTS at some point, but he definitely needs LOTS more training first. I'll miss Misty on the judging panel. I appreciated her way of giving positive, constructive criticism. Could not agree more. I think the dancers worry so much about getting the tricks right they don't concentrate on some of the basics, particuarly staying grounded. I'm so sick of contemporary folks looking like they're dancing on ice when doing salsa. That said, I really enjoyed Teddy in this. That's exactly how I felt about their routine. Unfortunately, what they were capable of was far short of "good," and that choreo deserved better. I could tell they were trying, though. Also, based on tonight and the entire season, Brooklyn was the right choice to go. LOL, yes, and is it me, or do they never mention that he's an alum! Mind you, I didn't like him, either, partly because he was obviously a contemporary/jazz dancer masquerading as a salsa dancer, and also because he dragged down his poor partner, Karla, who I thought was very underrated that season. You forget Alex Freaking Wong. I'd add S2 Allison, S3 Sabra, S4 Courtney, S5 Brandon, S7 Lauren, S8 Sasha, and S10 Jasmine to that list. After tonight, I'm tempted to add Tanisha, as well, but will reserve judgment until I see what else she does in hip hop. Lastly, a few months ago my boss was questioning her judgment as a parent for driving her daughter three hours so she could attend a Wildabeast master classs. I can't wait to tell her it was money (and time) well spent!
