Interesting, my Cox Cable listing shows today and tomorrow as reruns, but a new episode on Monday. I have to admit that none of today's first show (hit and run, art studio garage, and teen room mates) looked familiar. I also wanted to hear more about the garage, how the hole got in the roof - when JJ asked the defendant, first she rambled on about her big statues, the second asking, she said the place was a mess when she moved in, on the third asking, she pauased and then said Oh yes, it was there when I moved in. I wish the plaintiff had taken the effort to actually bring evidence. Plus I loved the defendant's answer to one answer "From, like, basically ...", an exact quote, and the answer didn't get any better from there.

Today's theme was apparently Idiot's Day. The big Harley rider was an idiot. He rode the bike hundreds of miles after he noticed a problem, claimed the defendant was obligated to do everything he asked for at the last minute after having been advised that the mechanic was already overbooked. He denied that he was told when he picked up the bike exactly what had been done and what was not done, then the defendant produced the work order that clearly showed what was done and what wasn't. On top of that he didn't have a shred of evidence that what was wrong with the bike was the result of the defendant's actions or inaction. What was interesting to me was that the plaintiff might have been able to make a case. If he had proof that the trasmission failed because there was no fluid in it AND proof that the transmission had fluid in it before the defendant worked on it, he could have argued that it was more likely than not that the defendant or one of his workers, under time pressure, drained the transmission without knowing that that work wasn't going to be done and nobody noticed this so it never got refilled. A long stretch, but would have had a better chance than his hopeless approach. Second idiot was the condo buyer who couldn't understand that a mirror hung on the wall and free standing night stands are not "built-ins". He didn't help his credibility when he admitted that he offered to buy them for $250 but sued since he didn't get them for $2500 (I think I got this right, the numbers were flying by pretty quickly). His argument that because he paid $800K+ he should be able to keep anything in the condo that he liked was just delusional. If I were the defendant I would do everything possible to never have any contact with him again.

Actually, I think the settlement girlfriend said that she took the first picture of him with the money while in a car, I don't think she claimed authorship of the toilet picture (not that any normal girlfriend would ever take credit for such a picture). However deadbeat boyfriend was one of the slimiest I remember, he had some phrases down pat, such as a garbled and almost incomprehensible statement about he never signed anything so he don't owe nuthin'. When he mouthed off to Byrd, I know Byrd was thinking "Will they fire me if I teach this mouthy punk a lesson?" Sadly the settlement girlfriend is going have tough going in life if she fell for such a blatant exploitation. She was attractive, could probably find a decent guy, I wonder if she has the "bad boy" fetish?

Yawn ... same old formula, same old miraculous turn around. Same scripted drama as two male strippers/MMA/sports bar owner guys feign fighting following a script written for the WWE (formerly the WWF), fueled by simulated 'roid rage and subsequent tears. Naturally, the strippers had ro re-enact their stripper acts for the cameras because ... why?

Okay, here we go again with the ridiculous "To Be Continued" crap. Do they really think that this will force us to tune in next week and just hold our breath until then? It just annoys the hell out of me.

Yeah, it is like they are just phoning it in. They are not even bothering to try to make the owner's overnight 180 degree turn around credible.

And don't forget Ramsey picking up unedited tape and shouting "IT'S RAW!!!"

Thank you Jamoche, sounds like I missed a good and well deserved smackdown. Bad haircut dweeb annoyed the heck out of me from the beginning. Sometimes I am sad that JJ can't say "take them out and hang them, make the world a better place".

Today's Mad Mom freaked me out, she is so angry and so convinced that she is correct about the son causing the car to blow up, which was pretty clearly contradicted by her own witness. We didn't hear much from the son during the case, but in the hallterview he sounded very together and rational, while Mad Mom seemed neither of those things. Second case, dweeb boyfriend with the institutional haircut and the car parts - how did it end? Our feed from Mobile replayed the first five minutes of the case in place of the last part of the case, very frustrating but I think I could figure out how the case was going to end.

Yeah, but Bailey really made it work. Imogen not so much. And Bailey was not a blithering idiot (except for the episode where the efficiency expert visited and Bailey pretended to be completely stoned out of her mind).

Toaster Strudel, I am really confused. I realize that not all cable systems show the same episodes (especially for reruns), but what I saw today started with Miss Weepy and the audience member being thrown out (didn't see why, I went back and forth several times and all I could see during the minutes before the ejection was that he may have been craning his neck or trying to get on camera, but couldn't be sure). That was followed by the brother and sister arguing over a puppy and pick of the litter agreements. I did enjoy the defendant whose dog went from 3 years old to five and then to sixteen years old! That was all we got in the first half hour, second half hour was a one case rerun, looked like mutual domestic violence, mostly boring except for JJ reading from the plaintiff's police report and asking why she went from "I'm OK" and declining medical attention to "OMG I am in so much pain that I need to go to the hospital" just after being told she was under arrest and going to jail. [Not exact quotes but I think they captured the essence.] Didn't see anything about hand written yellow signs for get rich quick scheme (sounds potentially hilarious), nose bleeds or tongue piercing, were those in a different half hour than Miss Weepy and the 3-5-16 year old puppy cases?

I was disappointed in JJ on this one. While she did make a few pointed comments she did not hit this Never-to-be-a-candidate-for-Mother-of-the-Year very hard on her stupid and irresponsible choices with regard to her children. She was behind on her child support (how much we did not find out), and with the limits the show has, she stiffed the plaintiff for thousands of dollars, but the tummy tuck took first place in her financial planning. Get a clue lady (using the term ironically), you have a lot more problems than just a tummy tuck, paid for at the expense of your ex boyfriend and your(dare I say it, too many) kids.

Oh my, I never knew that the ADA could award doctorates! I could have saved years in grad school and not had to survive comprehensive exams, thesis writing and last but not least, defending the thesis. If only I had known.

Toaster Strudel - just another day in JJ world (and the end of civilization as we know it).

Now, now, no need to be excessively cruel, they only weighed in at 3/4 ton if I did the arithmetic correctly. Reminds me of a local news story about three deputies who had trouble controlling a 150 pound suspect, the paper helpfully pointed out the the deputies together weighed in at over 1,000 pounds (we had some big ones in those days).

I also have Cox, but some of the shows they have listed as "new" recently look amazingly familiar even down to minor details. Not sure if Cox info is unreliable (like their signal) or maybe whatever local affiliate Cox gives us (WALA from Mobile for me) may juggle things around. Especially on the second half hour (reruns), often the discussions I read back on TWOP are clearly not for the shows that I saw that day.
