Yep, $5,000 a month. I am old, fat and balding and I think I could find someone a lot better for $5K a month. Maybe the cost of living around here is lower LOL. As a suggestion, start with Drama - YES, girl - NOT AT ALL. No matter how much make-up you trowel on, "girl" is way back in your past.

More than we see from many of the overly entitled losers we see on the court shows.

For $2.50 worth of groceries. Made sense in 1960, not so much now.

For once I was so relieved that the landlord had before and after pictures of the mattress so we could see how that jerk had really grunged up the mattress, even with a picture takee from across the room. I did like the hallterview where when asked what he does for a living, he said "actor", then Douglas followed up with "No really, what do you do to pay your bills?" He was all dressed up but I suspect that I would want to be upwind from him at all times.

I can't believe it! Just saw the beginning of the case with what looks like the most entertainingly awful defendant in history and the station cuts away for live coverage of self congratulatory speeches about Carnival Cruise coming back to Mobile. OK, breaking news, give us a 2 minute bulletin, but this looks like it will drone on until everybody from the mayor down to dogcatcher gets to bloviate.

I wonder if the intent was to penalize people who lose when in general losers are not required to cover the winners costs?

I was surprised that the interpreter was California court certified since she didn't seem to speak english herself.

I also live in Florida, but up in the panhandle. We have our share of meth heads, crack heads and other assorted trash but I think we are not as overrun with them as lower Florida.

Nailed it!

Another good day on Peoples Court, the new season is off to a good start. First case: The plaintiff really came across as crazy, the defendant as sad and lonely. The defendant looked like an attractive man, well spoken, with a good job. I think the show should have given him an 800 number and posted it so all of the similarly attractve and normal women plaintiffs we have seen who hook up with meth heads, jail birds and other equally lousy people could call him. Second case: Seemingly normal plaintiffs with a crazy neighbor/friend who was an illiterate, incoherent, violent thug wannabe who was so high in court that he was twitching. Third case: Overly entitled ignorant deadbeat tenant abandoned her furniture when she moved out (not having paid that month's rent) and wanted a bunch of money from the landlord. The landlord (who is a lawyer who for once actually came across reasonably well) could have done better, stumbled on whether there had been discussion prior to a text message, but was smart enough to keep his mouth shut until asked, and let the plaintiff hang herself (finally admitting that no, she hadn't really called him when she claimed she had). A very satisfying day with JM.

It was clueless plaintiff day for sure! First plaintiff drove me nuts and I was afarid JM was going to fall for her strategy. I have dealt with too many jerks who believe that if you talk really loud and assertively that makes you right. Second case plaintiff was just as clueless, left momentarily speechless when JM read the Ebay terms out loud. By the way, if you are going hustle Ebay printers, learn the difference between ink and toner. Third plaintiff, yeah pain and suffering for not having TV. However, she was the only one who seemed in the hallterview to get the message.

lovesnark, the plaintiffs got the fulll $5,000. JJ didn't buy the coyote defense. The defendant also made snide remarks during the hearing, including "I think they are all related" suggesting inbred hicks (I must admit the spokesman for the plaintiffs sure had an old fashioned bowl over the head haircut) and they killed the pastor's cousin's dog (the blasphemy!). He also said something about the plaintiffs will all burn in hell during the hallterview. Very satisfying outcome.

I don't know AZChristian, if bad hair, bad makeup, stringy unwashed hair, or the ever popular crackhead attire of two sizes too big white shirts with straight out of the package creases were the basis for verdicts, we could dispense with the judge, but we could still snark on them.

For a lot of JJ litigants, this is easy, they just stop by on the way home from the clubs, that timing works out fine.

Hi Teebax - Here on the Florida Gulf Coast with cable from Cox, we get two shows every weekday from 4-5 PM from WPMI (NBC) and two more shows from 8-9 PM from WJTC (UPN), both from Mobile. Even the shows on WJTC that Cox flags as "new" are just new for them, not the actual new shows. Looks like we don't get any Judge Judy on weekends here. Also, it is very common (mainly on reruns) that the cases I see do not match up with what I see discussed here (always seems like you guys get better ones than we get lol).

While I hate it when some jerk with thump-thump music playing wants to make sure that not only does everyone hear his music but can't listen to their own music, I have resisted the temptation to add to their thump-thump music with a bigger thump (i.e., a satchel charge).
-
Yeah, the magician was a complete jerk, but the "twins" were nothing to write home about. Only sympathetic player was the poor rabbit.
-
But if it had worked, we would have had much less entertainment.
-
Please tell us that you dressed him up so he looked like an unattractive child.
-
Or their hair washed.

I hope you will be nice enough to wait until he has passed on. Otherwise you will end up on Maury's show.

In today's generator repair case, I saw something that seems to be showing up more often, the "I am old so I must be right" defense (although in this case it was technically an offense). Coupled with the Sainted Single Motherhood defense, how long before somebody wins with "I am a 73 year old single mother so I must win".
-
Not necessarily, a lot of civil suits are settled with no admission of liability because it is cheaper to buy off a plaintiff than to go to court, even if you eventually win.
-
Personally, I think that he never offered (or it would have come up earlier in the case), but the jerk thought he saw a chance to look less like the jerk he is by claiming he had offered half. JJ's eyes lit up when she suckerd him into this, which gave her a legal basis to award half of the costs to the plaintiff.

In the great flagpole case, I was expecting there to be some portentous political statement was being made, instead just somebody mad at his HOA. Using the flag for this is like calling in the National Guard because I have fire ants in my back yard.
