Now that I'm done re-reading it, I'm thinking back to the first episode of this show. Didn't Conrad tell the new 'tern, "forget everything you learned in medical school"? Maybe Conrad is really the Fat Man in disguise.

In the Tex-Mex world I live in...they suck.

I don't have the time to get to the P.O. so I ordered from usps.com. Got Elvis and Janis stamps too.

This show is a hot mess, but there were two subtle references to an iconic book that you young folks might not have picked up on. There were two terms, "TURF" and "GOMER" that the docs used tonight. TURF means just refer the patient to another specialty, GOMER means "get out of my emergency room". The book, "House of God", written by Samuel Shem was published in 1978. I must have read it about that time, when I was working in a county hospital at the ripe old age of 27. It was a must read for all aspiring doctors at the time. It details the real life of residents and how they see patients. It's hysterically funny....I remember reading it several times back in the day. There's some very dark humor in it, but it's much more realistic than this show. I've just downloaded it from BN to read again.

Back in 1970 or so, when I was pretending to be a college student, we would drive from San Marcos to LLano, Tx to get Coors and resell what we didn't drink on the way back. Needless to say, I didn't last long in college. That's what happens when you major in Men and Beer. Sorry to see Tom leave, however, there were two Houstonians this week, and the better of the two won. (Looking at you, RANDY)

Did the writers just discover alliteration today?

Damn, I wanted vet Alex to win because he's a dog guy and drop dead gorgeous. So shoot me, I'm old and shallow. I did get FJ, just because.

Mine too. They should have asked for the song titles, not the artist. For what it's worth, I remember watching them on Ed Sullivan...had a huge crush on George.

Not surprising they are sold out.

You mean, always?

No shit. Stupid jacket, glasses and tennis shoes....'nuff said.

I am really torn between these two...and they picked my other favorites as sous...Fatima and Carrie.....

Damnit, I wasn't going to watch this disaster anymore until you said Aaron Pierce is back. The only thing better would be Kiefer. St. Elsewhere set the bar for medical dramas. So many great actors. One thing in this episode was correct....the third cause of death in this country is medical mistakes. My father was a victim of gross malpractice by an orthopedic surgeon. This guy was persona non grata in the Houston Medical Center, but was practicing in a small suburban hospital. But, he was a nice guy and my Dad refused to believe he was the cause of his misery. I absolutely believe that a "compassionate" bedside manner covers for incompetence.

Thanks for posting the link. I just finished watching it. It just confirmed what I already thought. 1. ATF clusterfuck and FBI cover up. 2. I can't stand Chuck Schumer. 3. Paul Fatta really got screwed. He had taken most of the firearms to a San Antonio gun show that weekend and still got 15 years for aiding and abetting. But at least he wasn't gassed or shot and left in a field to rot for five days.

I don't know of any such footage. The cameras were several hundred yards away during the attack. There seems to be one "explosion" that the feds blamed on a stockpile of ammo, but it could have been a propane tank. With over 400 canisters of CS gas being thrown into the compound with kerosene lanterns in use, it's much more likely the ATF started the fires. By the way, Janet Reno testified that she was unaware of the international ban on CS gas when she approved it's use in Waco. Federal agencies deliberately withheld information. Autopsies also found that many of those who died were crushed by falling debris, not fire. That sums it up, and the government NEVER admitted it.

Ok, SOME people get to mess with my Beatles. Nicely done, Mondrianyone, nicely done!

Finally, my favorite category, and Alex gives the OK to "When I Saw Her Standing There". Don't mess with my Beatles, y'all.

I'm reading David Thibodeau's "Waco, A Survivor's Story" now. I have no sympathy for Koresh, but reading about the effects of the CS gas the feds used on those people is gut wrenching. The fact that it's banned on the battlefield but was used on American citizens by their government is indefensible. How Janet Reno stayed as attorney general for eight years after that is a mystery to me. I agree on the excellent acting, particularly Taylor Kitsch.

Like when Graham looks at you with those glasses...it doesn't really matter what he says, I know I'm not going to take it seriously. Pretty much the same with Blais.
-
He just wanted to say "SAMURAI!" one more time, in his own strange way.
-
Me too, and for those very reasons. Graham, you're sitting at the grownup table...tennis shoes are not appropriate.

S17.E15: Final Three/S17.E16: All-Star Finale

Damn, didn't they used to have outtakes at the end? Sometimes that was the best part. Glad Michelle won, but they were a little heavy on the Elise talking heads. -

Elise is horrid, but she wasn't the worst tonight. -
I've been an MRI technologist for 18 years, and this show and those like it are why there are so many misconceptions about MRI. First, what they showed was a low field, or OPEN MRI, not what you would find in a hospital. Second, there was no coil around the area to be scanned. Third, penile implants are non-ferromagnetic, and are safe for MR. Lastly, the technologist is responsible for screening the patient, not some "billing specialist". What their "billing specialist" did on the last episode was a blatant violation of HIPAA laws on many levels. Publishing a brochure on FUCKING UPCODING?....... walking in on a patient examination? Give me a break. And this little hot-shot resident/er doc/surgeon? Real residents are busy taking call and working their asses off...they don't have time to violate laws by switching lab samples and babysit patients. And, a transporter in a hospital is not something they would contract out. It's an entry level job, meant for students, retirees, and volunteers. In this case, obviously meant to push a narrative that isn't relevant. The only positive note in this piece of crap, they did hang the films right side up.
