This: "Think Bodies, Rest And Motion." Perfect comparison.

I really don't think we "know" that Vargas's enforcer Yuri is meant to be the same Yuri discussed in the opening scene of Ep. 1. German Yuri had rented an apartment, had a girlfriend/wife, and was allegedly murdering people in 1988, so he would have been what, minimum 18-ish? Which would make him, at the very least, 40 in 2010. No way is Minnesota Yuri in his 40s.

S01.E07: The Best Washing Machine in the World
Bretley replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in This Is Us
I am so, so disappointed that Kate's storyline has become entirely one-note revolving solely around her weight. The show runners think they are handling this topic sensitively, but they're not. A couple of episodes ago Kate and Toby were at a weight loss meeting, and one of the other attendees was tearfully speaking (at length) about how she has to dole out 10 crackers (chips, whatever it was) to herself lest she Hulk out and eat the entire package. Rather than conveying any empathy, she was portrayed as being pathetic and laughable. She was seen as a joke. Tonight both Toby and Kate binge out on junk food, cementing the misconception that obesity is simply a result of a lack of self-control and that all fat folks just sit around making endless terrible choices. There was no examination of the real trigger for that behavior. Argggh I need to step away from the internets.- 337 replies

How did Flora's absolutely gorgeous cake from the signature not get more love? It's in the show credits, for fuck's sake. Paul and Mary did comment that it looked quite good, but I was looking for a stronger reaction, I guess. I thought it was stunning. This season's contestants are really bringing it with regards to the use of edible flowers, gold leaf flakes and other decorating props. I think they all used flowers/petals on at least one of their bakes this week. I know everyone loves Nadiya but her constant looks of worry, lip biting, covering her face with her hand, etc. are frustrating to watch week after week. Someone give that girl a pep talk and some reassurances! Her comment about never feeling proud of herself was so sad.

Man, tough crowd around here, with all the mehs and yawns. I'm enjoying this season just as much as any others. I think the Spanisch Windtorte was the most INSANE thing I've ever seen for a technical. When they showed the example cake with Mary and Paul, I thought, "Damn, they are all screwed." And then...what do you know, they all pretty much got it right. Those ranked the lowest were not that bad at all. Normally there's at least one person who pretty much tanks it. Tamal's cheesecakes were so. gorgeous. The hazelnuts with the spun caramel were wonderful. Several bakers had very beautiful cakes, this group is a bit more skilled in design and decoration than previous seasons. Nadiya's Fizzy Pop cakes? Wow. I could barely handle how ridiculously cute those black lambs were.

Oh my God I love these so much. I 100% think Debra Messing behaves exactly like this. -
I just realized this entire season was basically the Eagles' "Hotel California."

I agree, I felt it was completely intentional that Jack stopped just short of killing Hannibal. But my thinking was that he wanted to "save" the actual kill for Will. To everyone who says they were completely caught off-guard when Chiyo tossed Will off the back of the train, as well as those who said they kept waitng for the reveal that it was just a dream - same here! I'm still unsure that I'm convinced it wasn't a dream, especially because the stag/wendigo appeared. That "Spitters are quitters, and you don't strike me as a quitter." line was both gross and hilarious. And how the fuck did that make it past the censors? I guess when you're showing people getting eaten alive, a blow job reference isn't worth caring about too much. I find myself watching this show with one eye trying to guess which visuals Sars will use in her recaps, and what richer meaning they might have both within the context of the story and history in general. I just wanted to take a moment to say, "Thank you!" for the insightful readings, they have truly enhanced the show for me.

Jeez, the first few times I read that as Eames kept her headlights game tight, and I couldn't figure it out. "Wait, was Eames always nipping out? Wasn't she usually wearing a turtleneck sweater and a blazer? Wha?....Oh HIGHLIGHTS, derka."

Watch The Fake Ads From Last Night's Parks & Recreation
Bretley replied to Primetimer's topic in Parks & Recreation [V]
I love Ken so much. "...And Coinsy will hOOOOWWWWl for you!" The Ocean's Eleven style theme music was a great touch. -
I wanted to comment on this yesterday but decided I would wait until last night's episode to do so. Now that it's aired my position hasn't changed - I disagree with 85% of the "problems" listed by the author with this final season of the show. Basically, pennben says everything I wanted to say (and has written it much better than I would have).

Speaking of, that initial scene betweeen Donnie and his wife and the loan officer was super shady. It seemed like there was some Reason they weren't getting the refinancing (like the bank was under the thumb of some entity who didn't want to do business with cops) - was that ever explained (I admit I was dozing on and off for the latter part of the episode)? That chase in the park was exactly as advertised and I laughed my way thru it as the guy kept running INTO people.

Is it too early to nominate that line for the homepage battle? Because I would vote for that every day.

I don't know how they can have a $.60 food cost on those donuts with all the toppings and fillings they were adding. Speaking of - it would have been nice if the show and demonstrated them prepping some of the other ingredients - the pulled pork for example. I get that the dough was the key to the whole thing, but still, there was a lot of other prep they would have had to do. Waylynn, as the founder of Fonuts, could have definitely been more helpful to them, such as suggesting they hire a baking consultant to help with a new dough recipe seeing as they had over 2 grand in their budget remaining. The colors were horrific and they crashed and burned at their opening for sure, but I feel like they could have gotten a bit more support/guidance rather than everyone just standing back and watching them fail.

So many things I don't understand. Why are the participants absolutely unwavering on changing their branding? I get it, perhaps you currently have an established online presence which you don't want to alter, but guess what - if you get an investment from Tim or Joe, you are now playing in an entirely new arena to which your current customers will follow. If you don't get a deal, no biggie, you continue on with your original brand/logo. Also, this episode did not have any talk of how many "tickets" they could turn over per day at the retail location. How much money are they expecting each person who walks into the store to spend - a per table average so to speak - to justify paying the rent? And what are they estimating for online sales per day or week? She was an idiot for turning down Joe's offer. That brick and mortar concept could work maybe in LA, NYC, Boston and Chicago. It's not going to be a viable nationwide franchise. The wholesale model, while not as "sexy", would have made loads of cash.

Welcome To Sweden - General Discussion

This fucking show. I keep watching hoping that it's somehow going to turn into what I thought it was going to be, but instead it's becoming so much worse. Bruce is SUCH AN ASSHOLE I can't understand how he's supposed to be the protagonist. Watching someone be an entitled jag-off to every person he meets is not funny. -

Oh for the love of Christ, can we please not make "Duck Donnysty" a thing? Let the guy develop his own persona. -
This drove me nuts. Was the correct response actually "Napoleon" and Thiessen just happened to guess the wrong answer to the clues, or was the correct response "neopolitan" and they gave it to them?
