The series follows real estate developers Sidney Torres and Sean Conlon using their own finances and expertise to help other property investors with struggling projects by investing in their development.[1] The eight part series follows Torres in New Orleans and Conlon in Chicago in separate episodes.[2] It is produced by Cineflix.[3] The series has been described as "a real estate version of The Profit," a similar show also broadcast by CNBC,[2] and was inspired by a variety of On April 16, 2019, it was announced that the third season will premiere on September 19, 2019 So far I've only seen Sidney/New Orleans, but he's seems like a great mentor Edited August 23, 2019 by sheetmoss Link to comment
CrazyInAlabama August 23, 2019 Share August 23, 2019 (edited) I liked the first season with Sidney in New Orleans. I especially liked that he doesn't endlessly put up with garbage from the flippers. One man totally disregarded what Sidney told him, did exactly what he was told not to do. That including pricing a house at least $50k over market price, and ignoring everything Sidney has learned over the years. Sidney walked away from the partnership, and I think that's refreshing considering how much garbage some other 'reality' shows put up with from flip partners or future business partners. I can't wait for the third season. It should be interesting seeing how the different zoning and permitting issues between the two cities impact the flippers. I just watched that episode lastnight - that man was a hard-headed fool losing a mentor and future business partner, Watched the recovering addicts episode as well . I was happy to see all was good in the end. ETA: Also, kudos to Sidney's sharing of his past addiction-- and turning his life around/sobriety inspiration for the couple, Odd though, no info at the end whether they sold or not Edited August 24, 2019 by sheetmoss 1 Link to comment
CrazyInAlabama October 30, 2019 Share October 30, 2019 They're reshowing the episode with Russell called (It's Your House, but It's My Money), that never listened to Sidney, and Sidney finally walked. Every scene with Sidney trying to talk to him, Russell had that smirk on his face, and you could see that he didn't take anything Sidney said seriously. Link to comment

CrazyInAlabama November 30, 2019 Share November 30, 2019 (edited) CNBC is showing a marathon of The Deed: Chicago episodes, with Sean Conlon today (30 November) right now, until 3 p.m Central. I swear I've been scanning for the New Orleans and Chicago new episodes, and never found them. I watched three of the Chicago episodes, and found them bizarre. No one seemed professional, except Sean, the flippers were totally deluded. The one with the couple that have a ton homes they remodeled and rented out on the Southside, that wanted to go into flipping made me want to slap both of them. The wife wouldn't show up, the husband didn't seem to have an opinion about anything. The fact they dragged the remodel out so long, and did so many expensive changes to accommodate one buyer was crazy. I'm not surprised the buyer backed out (he lost his financing for the house, because they took too long to finish), and I'm not surprised the house was still on the market. The woman with the expensive flip that ended up losing $100k, even if she got her dream price was awful. She was never at the house, after Sean told her she needed to be there, she went on some out of the country vacation again. The house never sold on the show, but I'm betting if it sells it will be losing more than $100k for her, minus carrying costs, and closing costs. I can't believe Sean hired her at his real estate firm. Edited December 1, 2019 by CrazyInAlabama Link to comment

CrazyInAlabama March 8, 2020 Share March 8, 2020 Interesting episode. I can't believe successful flippers would try a new build, a sales price just under a million, and not have learned you design for the largest buyer pool. They made the classic mistake of designing as though they were going to be living there, instead of to appeal to their buyers. If it wouldn't have been for Sean Conlon helping them, they would have lost a lot on the house, because they didn't try to get finishes that were good quality, they wanted trendy, and over-priced. I don't know if it's just for the show, or if the people who are being advised really do disregard Sean's advice, but if they are, they're being foolish. 1 Link to comment

She obviously had someone floating her financially....me thinks her rich Daddy. The money pit and associated financial devastation didn't keep her from vacationing amidst the crisis and it certainly didn't keep her away from the Botox syringe. 2 Link to comment
CrazyInAlabama March 18, 2020 Share March 18, 2020 (edited) Yes, they worked it in later, Sean really liked her taste, and hired her for his real estate firm. They didn't make a big deal about it, it was just mentioned in passing. It was easy to miss. Edited March 18, 2020 by CrazyInAlabama 1 Link to comment
sasha206 March 18, 2020 Share March 18, 2020 This is the first real estate show in which I've seen that the good news is she should only looks 100K! And even with all those beautiful renovations, the house was still on the market. 1 Link to comment

Vivigirl10 March 30, 2020 Share March 30, 2020 This show is refreshing. Could Sean be any nicer or more supportive? Not sure if it was the most recent episode but it was the one with the flipper who was juggling like 13 properties and renovating that gorgeous, but decrepit, greystone. When the very green realtor did a property walk-through with Sean and his agent, he really focused on what she did well and then gently offered some suggestions. I loved his approach. At the end, the three of them were just so excited walking through the finished home. I picture the contrast of someone like John Taffer. Yelling and berating would have been the name of the game. Plus, the real estate porn on this show is pretty good too. 2 Link to comment

basiltherat April 2, 2020 Share April 2, 2020 I haven't watched house porn in -- so very long, and I really miss it. I really like the Sean episodes I've seen -- he is very likeable. I already know that he likes metal staircase railings with wood caps, so he is consistent. The "after" shots are very attractive and very modern-posh. What they do with century old buildings is fantastic. I live in Chicago so I know how small and dingy bungalow rooms can be! 2 Link to comment

Did they whether the renovated bungalows sold and for how much? Those two houses really turned out nice, but made the other homes on the block look a bit shabby. That made me wonder if they could get top dollar for them. Link to comment

CrazyInAlabama April 5, 2020 Share April 5, 2020 I like some of the home flippers, like the two men with the bungalows this week. They followed Sean's instructions, learned everything they could from him, and then worked so hard to finish. The others like the woman do the mansion that took a vacation in the middle of the build, made me furious. Link to comment

I liked the couple who were doing the new build in Riverside IL. I really liked how excited the wife Caren--who was a commercial interior designer, was learning how to get 'the look for less - and how the hubby Nic, was able to refinance their construction loan to their benefit... and was proud of himself for his perseverance in doing/getting it. 5 minutes ago, sheetmoss said: Edited April 6, 2020 by sheetmoss 1 Link to comment
Vivigirl10 November 12, 2020 Share November 12, 2020 I just ran across an episode last night featuring Sidney in New Orleans. I've watched all of Sean's episodes so I'm excited to go and dig up Sidney's now. Sidney was working with a friend who had purchased a home to flip but had held onto it for 3 years and was thinking he may want to ultimately keep it for himself. What a beautiful home at the end - those high ceilings on the first floor! I hated the refurbished wood vanities he made himself for the bathrooms though. I get the look, it's just not my taste. He and Sidney had also fought over what tile backsplash to put in the kitchen. The reveal showed a statement panel of tile coming up from behind the stove, but it appeared there was no backsplash throughout the rest of the kitchen. I thought that was odd. But the kicker of the episode was when they featured the Mom of the flipper and presented her like some grande dame of New Orleans. I instantly recognized her from Hotel Impossible! She ran some flea bag of a motel and she was definitely one of Anthony's more difficult cases. Plus, she was just plain old crazy!! Link to comment
CrazyInAlabama November 13, 2020 Share November 13, 2020 (edited) You can usually find some of the New Orleans Deed episodes running on CNBC about 1 or 2 in the afternoon on some weekdays. I really like the Deed N.O. episodes, but some flippers are so obnoxious about accepting Sydney's advice that I want to kick them. I like that the one man who ignored everything he said, and did everything Sydney told him not to do, was told they wouldn't work together any more. The Chicago version irritated me more, because a lot of the flippers weren't very sympathetic, and I found it hard to root for them. They wanted to ignore what Sean was telling them, and still thought they were smarter than he is. There were only a couple of the flippers I could root for on that version. It's too bad, because Sean has a lot of experience, knows what he's talking about, and made a fortune flipping, and selling real estate, and the flippers who ignored him were foolish.
