It was an intense show. Noticed that Clooney got a little emotional in that last speech, and I can’t help wondering if he’s feeling a little bit of remorse for certain things he did in…recent events.

I think this was too much "TV" and not enough "theatre" for me.  I wanted more wide shots and way fewer closeups.  And I was really surprised at the reaction of the audience after the ending montage - there wasn't really anything to warrant sustained applause.  I felt more shocked into silence. 

I highly recommend the movie.

I thought Cynthia did a very good job but the orchestrations for the majority of the performances seemed really off.

I felt like a lot of the performers were almost forced to chase the music.

I did get a refund.  And as I was falling asleep last night, I realized I could probably use the refund money to pay for the train and new tickets.  And then let Mr. ebk pay for the hotel 😄

Okay - we're going up Thursday to see the show and coming home Friday.  And I'm still $50 ahead of the original cost of the tickets.  Yay!!

BTW, this afternoon, we went to see the world premier engagement of a new play by Matthew Weiner (the guy who wrote Mad Men) about John Wilkes Booth. It's called John Wilkes Booth:One Night Only.

I thought it was quite well written, although a few cuts along the way wouldn't hurt if he wants to get it to Broadway. It's written as JWB doing a play about his life and death and is a really interesting look at his psyche, and the nature of truth.

The cast was fantastic, and we were sitting next to the star's grandma who had flown in from Iowa to see it. She was charming, so it's a good thing her grandson was fabulous (he was in the Gilded Age, but don't ask me who he played because we gave up on it a few episodes in).  I'd hate for her to be disappointed.

I do watch Gilded Age so I was curious. The actor is the one who plays the footman who invents a special type of clock and tries to get it patented. 

Yes he’s from Ioway. The play doesn’t seem like my cup of tea.

Saw The Book of Mormon for the first time in a decade. Supposedly, Parker and Stone made some “changes” based on the criticism people were giving about the use of African stereotypes, but other than updating pop culture references and taking out the cringey line “She’s a cup of hot chocolate line” I saw no real changes. The South Park guys are another set of white guys that act like they’re the edgiest smartest guys in the room just so they can insult whoever annoys them.

That being said, the show is still funny, and I needed that today. I still love “Hasa Diga Eebowai” despite the fact that it isn’t even a real phrase (or language). Diego Enrico was fantastic as Elder Cunningham, and this was his big debut so hopefully he’ll be in some other shows soon.
