I pretty much tuned out when the Ori became the new Big Bad.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I forgot. Actually, I think the Ori are gone too. 

Something a little more timely might be now the galaxy is largely decentralized and fractured since they left because everyone had been fighting the Goauld and Ori for so long. Don't have a big bad. 

You're still going to have factions against one another, but call it the Era of Dead Gods or something.

Before Atlantis happened, several other spinoffs were considered. One would have Sam paired with Malcolm Barrett, tracking down aliens on Earth. Very X-Files. I distantly remember an episode along those lines, because Sam looked especially fetching in black.

I didn't watch much of the spinoffs we got. They just weren't the same. Whatever spark made me love SG1 wasn't there for Atlantis or Universe.
