DIY Shows: Behind The Drywall

Guys, I want a place to talk about my favorite type of show, some are in reruns, some only show up occasionally.
If you're a fan of Mike Hollmes or Bryan Baeumler, if you love the Brothers on Call, or the Homewrecker, this is the place.

A couple of weeks ago, I was thrilled to see that my DVR had set some new-to-me Leave It to Bryan shows, but then they were dropped, and we got yet another showing of Bryan and Sarah building the most ostentatious "cottage" not owned by royalty.

I was watching Sell This House: Extreme, and this couple in a small town in Louisiana needed to get $125k for their small 2br/1ba, 900 sq ft home.
They improved to  maybe $150k, BUT they were moving to Washington, and I think they mentioned Seattle.
Unless they've got money stashed away, and are walking into high-paying jobs, wouldn't the difference be infinitesimal, dealing with Seattle prices?

Or so it seems, from HH I've seen there.

And my closest brush with fame, was when I saw my dresser on The Unsellables.  They painted it and kept it.

As of 11PM ET Thursday night, 5/22, DIY has marathons scheduled tomorrow, first of Elbow Room with Chip Wade.
Next, a bunch of Leave It to Bryan shows, though I think these are all ones I remember, and not the newer ones they scheduled a while back, then never showed.
Last, and through the night, a lot of Decked Out, with Paul LaFrance.  It's a Canadian show, and Kate Campbell, formerly of Mike Holmes' crew, now works for Paul.

Here's the place for outside-the-house how-to shows, like Curb Appeal, Decked Out, Desparate Landscapes, and Yard Crashers, and anything else of this ilk.

I've just noticed that DIY (or HGTV?) is starting to run Paul LaFrance's other show, Disaster Decks, which I find more interesting that his Decked Out, because it starts with a crumbling deck, and Paul and the crew show the homeowner how to do the needed work.

Paul's good interacting with homeowners, like Bryan is, and is a pretty funny guy.

Kate Campbell, formerly of Mike Holmes' crew, now works for Paul.

I've seen a few Ahmed Yard Crashers recently, so I've saved them.

Meant to add that Ahmed Hassan will be on the Today show Wednesday, according to his Facebook post.  That's why I thought to make this to start with.

I just started watching Rowhouse Showdown and took a break to forage.
Suz, I don't know if it was always the case, but DIY and HGTV too, seem to change their morning schedules frequently, from what was posted the previous day.

I stay up late, and usually check at 1 or 2am, but still find that I've missed a chance to tape a Bryan Baeumler or something else good.

I like both of Paul Lafrance's shows, but Disaster Deck is my favorite, because he and the crew are funny with the homeowners.

I love to watch these shows for the house porn, tips and to see what idiots people can be sometimes. I used to watch Property Ladder regularly. Every once in a while I'll watch DIY Realities. Those people never fail to amaze me. It's like read a book, ask a professional, Google it for goodness sake.

I love Elbow Room but it only seems to run in marathons in the morning. I catch every now and again. I way Chip Wade to do my house one day.

Chip Wade is so inventive, and does amazing things.
He would be a great person to have work on your house.
The only thing I wouldn't want is to have a room that would open to the the outside, with no screens.
Seems like you'd never get rid of all the bugs that got in, or down here, frogs or lizards.

And Suz, I won't say much on Rowhouse Showdown 'til you catch up.
The reruns of the first one seem to be everyday sometime, and also on Wednesday, when the new show is.
And unlike this year's Brother vs Brother, there are people to root against.

The other day there was a mini-marathon of Leave It to Bryan, so I got to watch about 6 shows I'd never seen.
In one of them, John McLendon, Mike's current landscaper, shows up to do work.
I love  spotting these celebrity(to me) cameos.  Mike's plumber, Martin Wroblewski showed up on a Love It or List It once.

I like John DaSilvia a lot, but I miss seeing all the details you get in an hour show.
One thing I worried about in the new show this week, with the raw sewage and unsupported floor above, was that while he was having the area supported by a temporary for his workers, why hadn't he done this before the hazmat cleanup people worked.

I don't know.
Of the old star shows on DIY, Rev. Run is the only one I liked, though I'd never listened to rap music.

Vanilla Ice I've watched a couple of times, but I'm bored with palm trees.  I can look out the window to see those.
His Amish one bothered me, because they have lots of puppy mills.

I really dislike Bronson Pinchot's voice.
Daryl Hall's OK once in a while.

I am watching Genevieve's Renovation.  I just found it so no clue if I am watching only reruns or what.  I like it.  Her guest bedroom is my style and I am on the hunt for that bedspread.  If anyone knows what the name of this style  please let me know.  It is impossible to google without the name or country whose style it is. It is shown in the link below.  I have exhausted all of my google hours looking for  it.  Help!

Here's a new show on FYI, that I just saw an ad for.

Unlivable, which starts mid-October.

Maybe I'll remember if I post this here, as there isn't much I watch on FYI, since Rowhouse and Tiny House are over.

5 days?  NO way is this going to be reasonable.  I will DVR it and check it out though!

If anyone in NY area is up for a renovation, Rescue My Renovation posted this on Facebook:

We're casting for a new show! The show, to air on DIY Network, follows couples that are in over their heads with their renovations: homeowners with more than they bargained for – supplies, schedules, budgets, a lot of moving parts all caving in on them. They’re hoping to mold their dream homes, but they are in desperate need of help, and that’s where this show sets them straight.

Are you overwhelmed with a renovation you started? We'll bring in someone to dissect your form and lend a hand to flip the failed projects to something you can be proud of. We'll get you back on track. As homeowners, you're going to get your hands dirty, but you'll also get the game plan to get to the finish line with the help of our host.

If you'd like to be on the show, please send pictures of your current project to casting@boywonderproductions.net with the subject line "FIX THIS HOUSE." We are looking specifically for projects that have already started demolition. MUST BE LOCATED IN THE TRI-STATE AREA. We look forward to hearing from you!

I thing the tri-state is NY, NJ, and either PA or CT.  I think I remember him doing a show in the Philadelphia area.

Just read thru this thread & all the discussion on deck renovations reminded me of an episode on "While You Were Out" where the wife surprised the husband with a deck renovation (horrible) and he went ballistic!

I only watched that show a couple of times because the renovations were too fast and shoddy.  I wondered if this ever happened!  I am not surprised.  He probably immediately saw that it had been done improperly.

Ah, the joys of the innernets, especially social media.

Yep.  We're lucky it wasn't attributed to Lincoln.

I had a friend who would post a lot of new agey sayings, and attribute them to Abraham.

Finally, I had to challenge this, and say it really was not like anything in the Bible attributed to Abraham.

It turns out she was quoting some guru of hers who went by Abraham.

Big grin.  I know the Abraham of which she speaks.  :>D

Glad that Rev. Run is back for another season.
I really enjoy interplay between Rev and his wife, Justine.
They were changing a laundry room into a guest room, and I've found something new to add to my "if I win the lottery" list.
I googled "what is the cost.." and I gather  in the $10k range for the coolest hiding beds.http://resourcefurniture.com/product-category/product-collections/beds-storage-beds-product-collections/
