I don't really get where they are going with this storyline since the NFL has a team planning to go to Las Vegas already.  Are we supposed to ignore that for this season?

I figured from the start that girl was lying about being pregnant.

Why would you promise to pay back a $5million loan within a year for a new business?  That's just stupid.

Desperation? I guess he really needed his clients when he was down and now feels obligated to come through in some magical big brother sort of way.

Oh, Spencer.  You are usually the smartest guy in the room and yet a lot of times, you still make stupid decisions.

I can't remember the last time I've seen Steve Guttenberg in anything, so him as Wayne Hastings Jr. is certainly an interesting idea.

Ricky is going to be a daddy!  Oh boy.

No surprise that Charles handled the press briefing as well as Sean Spicer did.  Larry had to have done that on purpose.  There is no way he would think that Charlie would do anything but bomb there.

Vernon and Reggie are so going to get in trouble with these shirts, right?

And it is Steph Curry that is the big special guest sport star for the premiere.  Not bad, Ballers.  Although I actually thought his wife (Ayesha?) was more natural on camera and delivering her lines then he was.

Oops! That NFL move to Vegas happened a bit quicker than expected, eh writers? Ah well, the team's not moving there for a couple years, so I guess we can watch how Ballers' logistics play out against the real world logistics.

I also really don't follow this set up for the firm. Hasn't Anderson always been a general wealth management company, even if Spence is junior partner, I don't think it's since pivoted to Athletes exclusively. I think Spence was pretty out of line going after Anderson like that in the opening, but maybe he saw that Anderson was really barking up the wrong tree with his notion of how to get in with Hastings.

I could really go for more Charles. His continued development is interesting to me.

I did not recognize Steve Guttenberg at all.  Looks like the Stonecutters are at it again trying to make him a star.

I don't get the Stonecutters reference. What does that mean?

Are we just supposed to assume that Spencer was able to get his registration? I guess Eddie George withdrew his grievance after Spencer's big speech at the end of last season? I kind of dislike how this show jumps ahead and hand waves the details of big conflicts.

Its a Simpson's reference. The Stonecutters are a mockery of a the supposed Illuminati/Freemason secret society. In the Stonecutter's initiation song, they take credit for making Steve Guttenberg a "star". Here's the clip:

I liked the Police Academy movies as a child, so I'm glad The Gutte is getting work.
