chessiegal April 23, 2024 Share April 23, 2024 Here is what IMDb says about the B&W and color. Quote Colorized versions of the black and white episodes have been syndicated. When the first DVDs were released in 2005, both black and white and color versions of the DVDs were available. Emma9 August 21, 2024 Share August 21, 2024 I've been watching some reruns on Freevee, which is an Amazon-sponsored service and thus almost all of the commercials are for their products, including Alexa smarthome tools. Funny to see the juxtaposition between tech wizardry and what Samantha does with her magic. Particularly amusing was the s1 episode 'A is for Aardvark', which starts out with Darrin and Samantha bemoaning that they're comfortable in bed and don't feel like getting up to see if the back door is locked, and leads to Samantha arranging for the house to 'cooperate with' Darrin (aka respond to voice commands) while he's laid up with a sprained ankle. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/5864-bewitched-general-discussion/page/4/#findComment-8439769

Aside from the relationship with Samantha I always felt that underneath it all the Dick York Darrin actually liked Samantha's family -with Dick Sargent it was as if he hated them. Dick Sargent always seemed filled with rage, for some reason. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/5864-bewitched-general-discussion/page/4/#findComment-8487389

My understanding of it was that Dick Sargent was actually the first choice to play Darren but turned down the part. If that's true and if Sargent had gotten the role instead of York I really don't think Bewitched would have made it past the first year. Assuming, of course, he played Darren then in the same way he played him when he took over the role. Because I don't know what the producers saw in Sargent that could ever have made them say, "Yep, that's our Darren Stevens!" Egg McMuffin December 10, 2024 Share December 10, 2024 I thought they could have retained the Darrin/Endora rivalry without them constantly being at each other’s throats. They seemed to soften towards each other right after Tabitha was born but it didn’t last. And by the time Dick Sargent took over the role, they just despised each other. It was unpleasant to watch.
