SunnyBeBe October 9, 2017 Share October 9, 2017 (edited) I didn't see all of the first episode, but, I just had something occur to me when the lead detective was watching mom in an old interview about her writing skills, practices, etc. She used to write non-fiction, right? Now, she's writing for a movie script or fiction project, right? Is it possible, that what we are seeing with the missing daughter is a script that she is writing in her studio? That she has created this story and is playing it out in her mind as she writes it. And, that once she wraps it up, she'll exit the studio the next morning, return to her house and find her daughter safe and sound, asleep. That all is a fiction story that she will sell to a network. This would explain why there seems to be so many loose ends, potential suspects, odd behavior, nonsensical reactions, etc. She's exploring the various ways that this crime could have taken place. Some of them will end up on the cutting room floor. Thus the title of last night's episode. Just speculating.....lol Edited October 9, 2017 by SunnyBeBe 2 Link to comment
Kirsty October 9, 2017 Share October 9, 2017 (edited) SunnyBeBe, that would be such an aggravating ending that I'd want to throw something at the screen! So I hope that's not the plan. Edited October 9, 2017 by Kirsty I thought this was the episode thread. 4 Link to comment
Lady Calypso October 9, 2017 Share October 9, 2017 Well, here is what I'm absolutely convinced of until I'm proven wrong: Since everyone's convinced it's Ex Douche who's at fault and nobody's really pointing fingers at Jane besides Ex Douche and the detective getting suspicious, we'll find out that someone at Jane's work, probably the director, which may not be Jane taking Lake, but it would be because of Jane, which will be a "twist". Not a creative twist, of course, but a twist nonetheless. I'm pretty sure it's the Director, by the way, because he'd know Jane's pattern when she's working (I assume they've worked together several times), and she's the only one to tell him that she's on Ambien. If he knows how she works, which includes a glass of wine, he'd know that she would pass out at some point, and if he had someone on lookout until that happened, he'd know that he could take Lake without Jane waking up. I also am positive that she was taken between 10pm and 12:30am. I thought that maybe the Assistant knows where Lake is. She may not be the mastermind, but I do think she may know where the daughter is, or at least who took her. I think she just knows something. I'm just not sure what she knows yet. 1 Link to comment
SunnyBeBe October 9, 2017 Share October 9, 2017 The Director did summon Jane up and to re-writing something late that night, but, if it's him, what's in it for him? Why does he need money? Is it for money? How does he benefit? Lake appeared to be at a playground. Who takes an abducted child to public playground? Link to comment
shapeshifter October 11, 2017 Share October 11, 2017 Currie Graham (the director) is usually up to no good, but I'm assuming it's related to the real life criminals she did her documentaries about (who was the guy she met in the car in the first ep?), and maybe since the ex has money trouble, he's in on it with the criminals--like splitting the ransom or something. The only problem with Currie Graham being the red herring is that he hasn't (yet) done anything suspicious to distract us from the ex, the gardener and the nanny, or the drug dealers. Of course, the seemingly sweet, clueless assistant who's having an affair with the ex could be involved too. Link to comment
SunnyBeBe October 11, 2017 Share October 11, 2017 Can we assume that the girl will be returned unharmed or is this going to go dark and she's found murdered? Link to comment

I've been assuming she'll be returned unharmed. Mostly unharmed anyway. Deatht would be really dark for network TV. Link to comment

That's what I used to think, and then Hannibal showed up on NBC. !! But the death/murder of a child -- yeah, that'd be too much. The Director could have arranged it for publicity. Link to comment
00redsvt October 16, 2017 Share October 16, 2017 I've been thinking that we are watching a show within a show (within a show?). I know what I'm trying to say but I don't think it's translating well. Ugh. So basically, I think she's the lead actress in a show about a director who's putting together a "dramatic cop show". Link to comment

There have been episodes of L&O SVU and similar shows that have shown dead children, but as far as I remember, it was not a child the viewers saw for more than one episode. Link to comment
