What comic book artists are your favorites? Personally I'm a big X-Men fan and so I'm excited that one of my favorites has been drawing for them recently (even if the stories are hit or miss.)

I love Phil Noto, I like John Cassaday, Steve McNiven, Steve Epting, Leinill Yu, Terry Moore, Olivier Coipel, Mike Deodato, and Jim Cheung to name a few.

Darywn Cooke is a genius, in my opinion. He has a wonderful, retro style that is just gorgeous, and his work on Catwoman and DC: The New Frontier, in particular, is stunning. His Catwoman was seminal, for me:

 

I also love Dustin Nguyen, both for his goofy, fun stuff:

As well as those guys, I love Steve Epting, Lee Weeks, Olivier Coipel, Phil Jimenez, Adam Hughes, Mike Choi, and many others.

Jim Lee's art always brings back fond memories of reading X-Men comics, the first Marvel/DC stuff I ever read. And Carlos Ezquerra is the ultimate Judge Dredd artist (and Strontium Dog artist), so will always be on my list. Oh, and going even further back into my childhood, Geoff Senior's work on Marvel UK's Transformers comics was great as well.

I actually think Greg Land was very good, before he started using computer software to trace porn models instead of actually drawing people.

Just off the top of my head, David Aja and Annie Wu are killing it on Hawkeye right now.  I also really like Emma Rios (currently on Pretty Deadly) and Michael Lark (who's on Lazarus with former Gotham Central collaborator Greg Rucka).

Jo Chen. While some of her stuff can be too "ass-in-face", I think her paintings are breathtaking.

All of these are great. I had forgotten how much I like Michael Lark until he was mentioned here. Gotham Central has always been one of my favorite comics.

I'm not really a HUGE comic book reader, but I know a little, but for me, it's Jim Lee, Jim Lee, Jim Lee. I fucking love his artwork that he does for Superman and Batman.  If you can't tell, I'm a HUGE Batman fan!

Some great names being dropped. I was thinking about putting this Jo Chen cover in the Favorite Covers topic.

I really enjoy Deodato as well. I think I've heard critique over his heavy use of shadows, but I love them.

Also how he draws hair and eyes.

Oh, how I adore the story that Deodato page is from. Bullseye finally being caught by someone with legitimate superpowers, who proceeds to utterly beat the living piss out of him, and leave him barely alive. I'd never really heard of American Eagle before, or since, but in that issue, I loved him.
