S04.E14: What I Cannot Change

Recommended Posts

I'm kind of confused.  Does Layla have some kind of scheme involving Juliette and Avery?  If not, did she have one before?  It seems like half the time, we're supposed to think she's scheming, and half the time we're not.  Her character is very inconsistent.

It's a little weird that Alicia Witt's character is named Autumn Chase, when Will Chase is a regular on the show.  I don't know if I've ever seen a show name a new character with the same last name as an established regular on the show.

On your first comment about Layla, that's the writing on this show. Sometimes I don't think the writers go back and review what they have written in previous episodes so they just roll the dice. One episode Layla is scheming to get back at Juliette for what happened to Jeff through Avery but then she kind of changes her mind. Won't know until it happens which direction the writers are going to make her go.

Autumn Chase, again it's the writers, don't they speak to each other, like hey guys we can't us that name because it belongs to one of our main characters, or maybe they just forgot that they have a main character who's real name is Will Chase??? Speaking of Alicia Witt, if she was suppose to be a famous Country Singer on the same level as Rayna Jaymes, whoever picked her for that roll really goofed, because she didn't come across as a Super Star Country Singer or maybe it was just the actress who couldn't give a convincing performance.

Autumn Chase

I thought it was Autumn Chambers, not Chase.  Did I hear wrong?

Yay Hayden!  You've been missed!  So glad that she's back; she looked healthy and glowing.  And I don't just want a civil detente or friendship for Juliet and Avery.  I want them to find their way back to each other and to remarry.  When they do, I also want a real wedding instead of the 17 second ceremony we got last season.

And while I'm spouting wishes let Avery start performing again, either alone or with a band.  The Exes were so good when it was the three of them.  A fuller sound and less angst.

I read Elton John is suppose to be on the show. Arrgghh. I feels very "jump the shark" like. I want the show to continue! Even with some of the annoying characters. What are your thoughts?

"dedicated to Foregone Conclusion House for the musically inclined but economically disadvantaged. (Big fundraiser concert starring Juliette Barnes as the season finale?)"

So most of East Nashville? :-)

What is poor angsty Avery going to do when THE TRUTH comes out that Juiiette was somewhat responsible for Jeff's death?

I don't think Juliette is responsible for Jeff's death, but she sure is responsible for letting people think he committed suicide. Oh wait, I don't remember, does she know about it? Or is it just Luke, Colt and Layla?

And since Juliette was in rehab immediately after having this revelation, I think the onus falls on Luke - at least it did when she was still in treatment. And now that Layla knows, why hasn't she said anything? Jeff was the love of her life, was he not? Wouldn't she want to set the record straight about his death? She'd rather kick a revenge plot into place than let the world know her partner died doing something heroic in his final moments. Hmm, interesting.

I think going to the police, with what she'd learned, maybe taking it to the press, would be what most people would do.

Of course, I thought it was ridiculous, that Jeff's death, was so easily declared a suicide.

Jeff was a well to do, prominent person. Relatively young, in excellent health, no history of depression, everything in his life seemed to be going his way, no note, and he commits suicide?

And nobody cared enough, at the time, to press for more of an investigation?
