GarnetGirl November 14, 2015 Share November 14, 2015 I missed the episode(s) where Dodds was introduced because I was staying with my elderly mother after the recent death of my father. Dodds' father quotes are not unlike what I find myself doing lately when it seems relevant. So I keep wondering: Did Dodds' father die recently, and was his father a cop? Dodds is the Deputy Chief, played by Peter Gallagher. It was implied that Mike was brought in, not only to help Olivia run the squad, but also to keep everyone in line. 1 Link to comment
BatmanBeatles November 14, 2015 Share November 14, 2015 Ripped from the Duggars headlines - but they left out arguably one of the darkest parts of the Duggars, which is how they "blanket train" their babies. Its a great way to raise compliant obedient children who will be perfect targets for further abuse. That actually sound like a good idea for a future episode. 2 Link to comment

I know just what you mean, and think that's a pretty typical part of coming to terms with loss. But as things stand with Dodds, (in addition to there being no such loss) it further erodes his appearance of competence. Especially as he's caught the stupid ball this season, because that's the gauntlet the writers force all new characters through. Carisi was also hard to take initially, and now he's mostly made of win, so here's hoping. But the "my dad says" crap is an additional abstraction of unnecessary stupidity that rivals Carisi's pornstache and really needs to go. 1 Link to comment

Maybe he is actually a terrible cop who doesn't really know anything who actually was able to rise up the ranks because his dad is a deputy chief. 1 Link to comment
