jpgr September 19 Share September 19 I wondered how they would deal with Cal's passing, and I like the choice they made to honor her with the opening "In loving memory of..." moment right off the bat. I enjoyed the first episode but it is going to be really tough to watch how happy and vibrant Cal seems for however many episodes she is there. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/32512-the-great-australian-bake-off-general-discussion/page/8/#findComment-8460014

Agreed. Such a loss to the world. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/32512-the-great-australian-bake-off-general-discussion/page/8/#findComment-8460715
TVbitch September 22 Share September 22 That was a sad shocker. I hadn't heard, and then to see her so happy in the tent. In Cal's honor, I will not complain about anything until at least the third episode! 💐 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/32512-the-great-australian-bake-off-general-discussion/page/8/#findComment-8462134

It's going to be a challenging watch for the remaining 6. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/32512-the-great-australian-bake-off-general-discussion/page/8/#findComment-8462619
jpgr October 5 Share October 5 I liked the "Back to the Basics" episode, although I thought their judging of the Showstopper was inconsistent regarding whether supports were used. But honestly, most of the episode is a blur because "Cal is ill" at the beginning just has me waiting for what they will say next week. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/32512-the-great-australian-bake-off-general-discussion/page/8/#findComment-8473215

That was hard to hear. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/32512-the-great-australian-bake-off-general-discussion/page/8/#findComment-8473364
TVbitch October 11 Share October 11 I didn't know Cal would be on this week, after being gone last week. She seemed fine though. Heartbreaking. I don't think requiring "movement" added anything to the bakes. I was interested in all the indigenous flavors the guy that left was using, but he was clearly not up to standard with the finishing. Sometimes I suspect the female judge is AI. 😂 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/32512-the-great-australian-bake-off-general-discussion/page/8/#findComment-8478269
jpgr October 11 Share October 11 I agree, it was a pleasant surprise to have Cal back, although still bittersweet knowing what's ahead. The movement thing was strange, and are roller skates a "vehicle"? Agree also about the guy using so many indigenous flavors. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/32512-the-great-australian-bake-off-general-discussion/page/8/#findComment-8478377
purist November 21 Share November 21 Good result, and a lovely tribute to Cal right at the end. *sniff* 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/32512-the-great-australian-bake-off-general-discussion/page/8/#findComment-8513704
TVbitch November 24 Share November 24 I wonder if they reshot the ending so they could toast Cal. It was touching. An enjoyable season, despite life throwing a sad curve ball at it. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/32512-the-great-australian-bake-off-general-discussion/page/8/#findComment-8516412
Ancaster November 28 Share November 28 Hi everyone. I just started watching the Aussie version (I've watched GBBO since the beginning). Can someone explain how the filming works? Is it on the weekend only, or do they film in one fail swoop like the British one during Covid? I ask because if they film on the weekends only, some of the bakers must travel an awful long way if they're coming from all over Australia. Or is it usually pretty much just bakers from Sydney and Melbourne (I assume they film near one of those cities). Thank you! In other news, I met Adrian from the current season a couple of weeks ago - the same week he was eliminated. He was in the seat next to me at a theatre show, and we had a chat about Bake Off. He was very nice. We talked a bit about Cal Wilson and he said she died about a month after they finished filming the series and she was great to work with. I told him I thought he was going to win, and he said, 'So did I!' 😁 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/32512-the-great-australian-bake-off-general-discussion/page/8/#findComment-8520053

Nice story about meeting Adrian. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/32512-the-great-australian-bake-off-general-discussion/page/8/#findComment-8520156
