Carey 6 hours ago Share 6 hours ago Honestly I just would be more of a fan of performer to perform as if they're in a talent show. That's it. Nothing more since what some might think works has the opposite effect. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/591/#findComment-8577583

It wasn't jazz-jazz. It's more funk and rock. That's the kind of vibe I'm talking about! It might appeal to more people. Apparently, what they're doing with the halftime is working, so they've got to go with what works. That doesn't mean that a lot of us will watch it though! I've read a lot of negative comments about the show on other social media. Quote BTW Chit Chat, on a different note, Desmond Howard, who won the Heisman as a member of a Big Ten program, who the Super Bowl MVP half a decade later. Still a small sample size since the beginning. I posted about this last night. The elite group I was referring to all won a Heisman, a college national championship, and a SB. Not to take anything away from Desmond, but I can't find any info on him winning a college national championship (not that he wasn't great!) I'm just trying to make sure I'm accurate in what I posted! All due respect to Desmond, of course. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/591/#findComment-8577607

Therefore I stand corrected. In the annual "Way Too Soon" or SO EARLY favorites for 2025 & 2026, Kansas City is favored to be the 3rd team to win 3 Super Bowls in 4 years. Which, if that happens they would also become the second team to reach 4 consecutive Super Bowls (and the first to win at least one game in that span). Buffalo, Philadelphia, and Baltimore are tied for second best at +700 (the Eagles were previously tied with the Chiefs at +650 followed by the Ravens and Bills for 3rd best immediately after the Super Bowl ended). Detroit is 5th at +900 and San Francisco is next with a 17 to 1 (previous 14/1) chance to finally get what would be a record-tying sixth Lombardi. Lamar Jackson, who several thought would go back to back for the NFL MVP, opens as the 2025 favorite at 4.5 to 1. Josh Allen is right behind to repeat at 5/1, followed by Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow, both at 7 to 1. Jayden and CJ are after those two 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/591/#findComment-8577618
DoctorAtomic 6 hours ago Share 6 hours ago What is 'what works?' Besides the people that complain about everything, you're getting 125 million viewers. Ad revenue goes up every year. Even if you're not watching the halftime show, you're leaving the tv on. It's not like you're worried that if the halftime show falls flat, people aren't watching the superbowl next year. Yes, that's true, so on the financial side of it, it's still a win-win for the NFL. If they go by public opinion (reading various social media platforms), and there are more people unhappy with a particular aspect of the SB, then TPTB might think about doing something different to appeal to even more people. If it's a small minority of people who don't like a particular aspect of the SB, then they'll continue with what works best for the show. As I said earlier, aside from the halftime show, I enjoyed the pre-game coverage and all of the other singers. I'm just a lone voice stating that the halftime show wasn't my cup of tea. I'm not mad about it. I just 'nothing' it. I went to the kitchen and got some more homemade chocolate chip cookies! Then I came back and watched the rest of the game. I enjoyed this SB more than any in the past few years. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/591/#findComment-8577638
Raja 6 hours ago Share 6 hours ago I'll say it. A NFL player is about 4 times more likely to be Black than a randomly pulled American. And the NFL doesn't want to present a show where only the players are Black. As R&B is the legacy racial crossover music and hip hop is that for the modern era, with some Black faces now turning up in Bro Country. So R&B and hip hop are increasingly being the show music of choice. Now it is 5 years in a row before we get to the Latin show. Now the decade before that the R&B might come from Justin Timberlake or a multi racial Bruno Mars Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/591/#findComment-8577642
DoctorAtomic 6 hours ago Share 6 hours ago People at decent sized parties though aren't watching the halftime show. I was the only one that saw Janet Jackson because I happened to be in the living room checking on the dog at the time, and I called everyone in. Carey 5 hours ago Share 5 hours ago For me, and at the end of the day overall, I couldn't care less about anything but the game. Sure everything was okay, but as someone that planned to watch Super Bowl 59 the second it was set a couple weeks ago, I have to agree that regardless of whatever, I'm tuning in and leaving my TV on for the game. We were recording the game. We let it get ahead, then depending on how it's going, we'll either tune in or not watch it at all. Had the Chiefs been blowing them out, we would've deleted it and not watched it. It's so much less stressful to handle games this way. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/591/#findComment-8577656
merylinkid 5 hours ago Share 5 hours ago Look, I was fine with Up with People being the half time show. I would not mind recreating that. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/591/#findComment-8577684
Carey 5 hours ago Share 5 hours ago For those who track the following: It looks like FOX and the Super Bowl are projecting about 126,000,000 viewers. As is the custom, that's not super official. Might be more or less, but either way a new record. I cannot find anything on whether they hit over a 49.2 rating Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/591/#findComment-8577688
