radishcake March 30, 2014 Share March 30, 2014 Voight pulls Halstead's badge when Lonnie Rodiger is found dead. After a car accident Severide and Clarke discover the torso of Dr. Elliot who has been instrumental in putting away high profile criminals. With Intelligence down one Sumner is given an opportunity to prove herself. Meanwhile during all the investigation Lindsay and Severide share a moment. Link to comment
Rionadh March 31, 2014 Share March 31, 2014 I'm looking forward to this episode too! I don't think for a second that Jay killed Rodiger but it'll be interesting to see how that all transpires and to see who, if anyone, from the unit has his back. Hopefully someone will although the evidence does seem to stack against him. Link to comment
Happy Harpy April 1, 2014 Share April 1, 2014 I'm looking forward it, too. I truly like the common universe between CF and CPD and how they exploit the spinoff without unnatural sweeps-only Big Episodes. Plus, Lindsay and Severide? I'm in! Link to comment
Rionadh April 2, 2014 Share April 2, 2014 I'm in for Lindsay and Severide too. I really like Lindsay, she's my second favourite after Voight so I'm happy it seems that she'll have quite a few scenes in this next episode. I do like her with Jay but that's obviously on the back burner right now so it'll be interesting to see what happens between her and Severide. It's good to get to see Severide too since Chicago Fire is still on hiatus. I've seen some people say that Lindsay and Severide don't have any chemistry but I don't think that's the case, I just don't think they've been linked romantically on screen yet. Besides, I think Sophia Bush who plays Lindsay would have chemistry with a brick wall so I don't think there's anything to worry about there! 1 Link to comment
Happy Harpy April 3, 2014 Share April 3, 2014 (edited) I think it was easily my favorite episode so far. I had the feelings that every character worked well in its place, and the whole flowed very well for me. Again, I like the CF/CPD constant small crossovers, it does truly create the feeling of a single universe. I suspected the lawyer almost immediately, but the case was interesting all the same. I also liked the resolution of the other, even though I still don't like Jay. I don't hate him, but meh. I've wondered why they added Sumner while I was just getting used to the many main characters, but finally I'm warming up to her. I wonder what's her game. If she's truly a mole, she plays the right notes and could be a great antagonist for Voight. I like Ruzek and Burgess, I think they work well together (since they go there, I wish he were single, though. Booh). And wow, Lindsay and Severide was hot. I think he has more chemistry with her than with any of his previous girlfriends on CF. If the writers try the new experiment of a pairing between main characters of two different shows, I'm definitely in. Edited April 3, 2014 by Happy Harpy Link to comment
Rionadh April 3, 2014 Share April 3, 2014 I just finished watching the episode, I really liked it. I think there was a nice balance between Jay's case and the Intelligence case. I'm glad Jay didn't do it but I never really suspected that he did. The scene between him and Lonnie's dad when he finds out the truth was really nicely done. I like Jay, I really like him, I think he's a good cop and he just got a bit in over his head with this case because of the connection he had to the victim. I'm also warming up to Sumner. I like that she is just getting on with things, waiting for Voight and the rest of the team to accept her. I don't think she's Internal Affairs but watch me be wrong! I loved the little scene with Voight trying to get Antonio and Sumner to pair up rather than Erin and Sumner. I really don't think anyone else would have gotten away with speaking to Voight like that! Onto Ruzek and Burgess... I'm really torn. I like them together, I think they work well together and he is really, really sweet to her. I just can't get past the fact that he's engaged though and there doesn't even seem to be any major problems in his relationship. I'm interested to see what happens with them though. As for Erin and Kelly, wow. I really, really loved that last scene. It was cute and sexy all at the same time. I hope they manage to keep this up somehow. I'm just not sure how they'll work it with them both being on their seperate shows. I do like the idea of them though and they have great chemistry together, I'm a fan! 1 Link to comment

For me, the fact that he didn't tell her he was a cop in forever could be an hint there are problems (he doesn't trust her, keeps her away -because she's not truly the one?). But it's no excuse for cheating -as if there was an excuse, so yeah, I'm torn, too. Link to comment
toby812 April 3, 2014 Share April 3, 2014 I'm still on the fence about Sumner. I'm pretty sure she's hiding something and I still want to spend time getting to know the other characters first. So maybe I would have been more receptive to her if she was introduced later in the season (which I realize is hard to do with a short season). I'm all for Erin and Severide - but agree that it seems logistically to be hard to do much with them being on other shows. Although, as someone who doesn't watch Chicago Fire (It's on my summer catch up list), I was surprised that they moved so "fast" on them when her and Halstead have been such a slow burn. And was anyone else surprised that Platt seemed to be encouraging Burgess to make a move on Ruzek (unless I misread that scene) - I was completely expecting the opposite. Maybe Platt has more backstory than I originally thought. 1 Link to comment
SnarkySheep April 3, 2014 Share April 3, 2014 I've long suspected Platt of having significant backstory; it's just a matter of when they get to it. It's become clear that she goes back with Olinsky and Voight, probably as long as they go back with one another. Personally, I've wondered why she's a desk sergeant when it seems that she would be one heck of a cop out on the streets! Perhaps she was injured in some not-immediately-obvious way, or something else happened on the job, which ended in her taking desk duty. Link to comment
Rionadh April 3, 2014 Share April 3, 2014 Happy Harpy, I forgot about Ruzek not telling his fiance he was in Intelligence right away so I suppose you're right, maybe all isn't well with his relationship. Since then I think they've seemed ok though, he's even brought her to Molly's to meet the rest of the unit. I don't know, we don't know Wendy well enough I suppose but she seems like a nice girl so it makes me feel a little guilty for liking the idea of Ruzek and Burgess together. We'll see what happens I suppose though! My apologies that I'm forgetting who said what and I didn't quote it but I also agree that there must be some reason why Platt is behind the desk all the time. I love her character as some comic relief but I think there's definitely some backstory waiting to be told then. There's also been some references to her really liking Erin, I wonder if that ties in with Voight somehow? Maybe Platt was around when Voight first took Erin in? Who knows, I'm just really interested to know more about all these characters! I've seen a few people online saying that they're disappointed in Lindsay's lack of support for Jay during the Rodiger case. I must say that I didn't have the same reaction when I first watched. I think she never doubted him, she gave him the union guy's number but on thinking about it more, I suppose people are partially right. I don't know what more she could have done to actually help with the case but it would have been nice to see a phone call or something. I wonder if that was done deliberately and it's something that'll be picked up in a later episode? Link to comment
Chas411 April 3, 2014 Share April 3, 2014 I really enjoyed this episode. I'm shocked to say I found myself liking Severide and Lindsay. I really wasn't expecting too but I think it was just how sweet and light their scenes were at the end of an otherwise dark episode that got me. It's nice seeing Erin smile and Severide has been through the ringer over on Fire lately as well. I say let them have their fun. I can't see them getting serious but it makes for some cute and lighthearted crossover scenes. Regarding the Jay stuff - I could see on one hand why they were mad at him. The evidence looked really bad plus he was lying about his wherabouts. Voight had repeatedly warned him to back off as had Antonio. Jin was already up shit creek as he had been providing him with information which probably could have led to him being fired by Voight. Then on the other hand, Voight more then anyone knows what it's like to be in a position like Jay's and I found it really hypocritical for him to get so judgemental and blame Antonio for everything. I liked the way it all ended but when Jin and the rest were trying to high five him and play it off like nothing happened I really wanted Jay to turn around and tell them to fuck right off. Burgess and Ruzek - I think they have potential but I really hate this whole fiancee thing because I think it cheapens Adam's feelings for her. I think he likes her but I'm not buying he's that into her. I think he's just really panicked and wants out of the relationship. Burgess, I think is crushing hard so I think it's unfair of him to be acting the way he is towards both girls. Man up Adam. I like Sumner as a character but the cast is full enough already. Jin and Atwater already get next to nothing. We don't need an additional full time cast member. Promo for next week looks good but as I think I've said before, I'm over the whole Burgess wants to be in Intelligence plotline. Especially while Atwater barely gets a scene. Plus the whole undercover prostitute scenario just seems like a silly way to give her and Ruzek more scenes. Either he has to pretend to be a client and ~hilarious hijinks ensue or he has to rescue from a dangerous scenario. 1 Link to comment
Rainbow April 4, 2014 Share April 4, 2014 (edited) I loved the Ruzek and Burgess scenes but agree the fiancée story needs to end since Ruzek just does not seem that into her and not sure what angle tptb are going for but if Ruzek and Burgess are going to be a couple the Wendy fiancée arc needs abruptness end unless there is a bigger development coming up concerning Wendy possibly being not as sweet as she seems ! I do not see Ruzek as a terrible guy but I get the feeling he feels an obligation to Wendy but yet I see no spark between him and her so it all seems for nothing . SnarkySheep April 4, 2014 Share April 4, 2014 I also agree that there must be some reason why Platt is behind the desk all the time. I love her character as some comic relief but I think there's definitely some backstory waiting to be told then. There's also been some references to her really liking Erin, I wonder if that ties in with Voight somehow? Part of it, IMO, is that Platt admires young women who can stand up for themselves. I believe that's a large part of why she harasses Burgess so much; I seem to recall a time when she was talking about about balls and how "you [burgess] don't have any." I'm sure that given her decades on the force, Platt well knows how hard the job can be for women, and so she is, in her own way, trying to help Burgess by either toughening her up or else forcing her to admit she can't deal before anything or anyone hurts her. But Erin, on the other hand, is already tough enough, and likely Platt admires her for it. Personally, I like to think this is a matter of having to assume there's lots going on that we aren't privy to seeing. Remember, for example, the episode recently where Voight knocked on Lindsay's door with the file on Justin's cell mate, and Halstead was inside? IMO it seemed rather clear that it wasn't exactly the first time he'd been over her place at night just to hang out. He had a beer, with his feet up on the coffee table, while Lindsay had changed into casual clothes. So likely there's a lot of other things that may be happening between them, such as texting, calls, visits, etc. Just because we don't see it doesn't mean it isn't happening. Link to comment
Rionadh April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 I'm not sure what to make of Burgess getting all the Intelligence attention. I think she deserves it because she's a good police officer and she used her initiative during the SVU case. However I do agree that Atwater seems sidelined slightly and I hope he's also given his chance to shine. As for Platt, it could just be that she admires Erin's toughness and that's why she seems to like her so much. I think it goes deeper than that though, I think it is connected to Voight somehow. Hopefully we'll find out soon! You're right also about things just not being seen on screen but I do think it is a shame that more wasn't made of Erin and Jay's relationship in this past episode. I don't think she did anything wrong at all, I think some people are just a bit bllindsided by their love of 'Linstead'. I would like them to happen eventually but I don't need every episode or storyline to be about them or have them shoehorned into it in some way. It was good to see Jay deal with this case on his own and it was actually interesting to see Olinksy and him interact a bit more. Link to comment

Happy Harpy April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 The desk sargeant reminds me of Sue Sylvester. She certainly sounded gleefully evil. I hope he doesn't truly have cold feet, but is just trying to rationalize his feelings like this for fear that they are/could get way deeper than just attraction. As I said, I like very much Burgess and Ruzek as friends; and I like them as lovers, but I wouldn't want the former ruined for the latter if their whole relationship has to be cheapened. The only thing that I liked in the Dawson/Casey/Hallie mess on CF is that Casey didn't cheat and I hope it will be the same here. Plus, Burgess has that "good girl" thing going for her that I wouldn't want her to lose. I would be nice if, for once on TV, "I'm not a homewrecker" wasn't used as a foreplay sentence before cheating. I wonder if next week will go cliché, like sleeping together after one (or both) are in danger...or something that I would find more original, with Ruzek preparing to man up after a "Oh, shit, I do have feelings!" moment. . 1 Link to comment
Happywatcher April 5, 2014 Share April 5, 2014 This was the first time Burgess has been interesting. They even cheapened her big investigative break through, and the other scenes with her tend towards slapstick out of step with the rest of the scenes. Making her a 26yo former stew makes it hard to believe her Just Out of High School OMG I Kissed Him and He has a Girl Already act, but overall in this episode she was interesting for the first time. SnarkySheep April 8, 2014 Share April 8, 2014 Personally, my biggest question regarding Burgess - and quite possibly the thing that might make her most interesting to viewers - is some explanation as to why the switch from stewardess to cop. Obviously, people make career changes all the time, from and to all kinds of things; but overall, this kind of leap isn't a particularly common or logical one. Was Burgess perhaps on a plane that was held up or otherwise threatened? Or perhaps something happened in her personal life that made her want to become more proactive in taking care of herself and others in danger... Link to comment
Rionadh April 9, 2014 Share April 9, 2014 I thought Burgess had said in the first episode that she became a stewardess while she was waiting to get into the police academy? So that would imply that she already knew she wanted to become a cop. Why she decided to be a stewardess is beyond me though! I could be wrong with that though, I just thought that's what she had said. 1 Link to comment
