Clanstarling June 25, 2015 Share June 25, 2015 I may be naïve to believe they'll fix the Pottinger plot hole when the time jump and new alien introductions settle down a bit. Heck, given Amanda's new badassery, he could well be living in her attic, albeit chained up and getting pay back. 1 Link to comment
Raja June 26, 2015 Share June 26, 2015 As I recall, the first time a white man and black woman kissed on TV was during the original Star Trek (and even then Nichols and Shatner deliberately fucked up every take in which their characters did not kiss). It shows how far we have come from Captain Kirk being mind raped and forced to rape or at least sexually assault Lt Uhura is trumpeted by the Trek franchise given so much credit because a white actor's lips touched a black actor's lips. To our time now a Black actor and human character having a sexual/romantic affair with a white human actor/character Link to comment
Emily Thrace June 26, 2015 Share June 26, 2015 1. They are a brutal warrior race, obsessed with conquest and slaughter. 2. They are black people. Most scenes are darkly enough lit that on many screens the purple barely shows.and3. They wear loose-fitting clothing and wraps around their heads. 1. Iraths are a brutal warrior race as well with bonus noble savage points. All the alien races on this show resemble one culture or another you could argue Casti's with their patriarchy are Middle Eastern. Its only truly offensive if it becomes mockery or paints a particular race in a negative light. In any case there isn't anything specifically African about the Omec yet. The cannibalism and superior strength have all been applied to other races. In fact they are deliberately laying against expectation by showing the darker Omec's occupying the white Casti and Indogene. 2. That may have been casting luck the actor is actually fairly well' respected Canadian television actor. Like Graham Greene it may have just been the auditioned all races for the part and were impressed by this one guy who happened to be non-white, They then cast the family to fit the actor. 3. The headgear is clearly cold weather gear they never wore it inside. It clearly has no religious or cultural relevance like a turban or a hijab. In fact their gear reminded me of Mortal Kombat more than anything else. Sometimes a funny looking hat is just a funny looking hat. 3 Link to comment
