Actionmage June 13, 2015 Author Share June 13, 2015 (edited) It was fun. I liked that Mr. Davis enjoyed himself and seemed open to the games. His "laugh" during Dubbing was great! It was fun to see Keegan again. I enjoyed that he got to be part of Living Scenery, at least. Was anyone else thinking Wayne was trying some Silent Hill thing near the end of Props? peeayebee June 13, 2015 Share June 13, 2015 I don't know anything about Silent Hill. I've seen other horror movies where faces or hands seem to be pushing thru walls. Is that what you mean? I laughed quite a lot this ep. I really liked Vernon Davis. He did great in Song Styles, then in the other two games he flubbed a couple of times, but it was cute and charming. I loved when Colin kept laughing during Dubbing. Living Scenery was very silly and therefore very funny. I enjoyed Wayne's Nicki Minaj. He sort of lost the impression as he went along, but it was still good, and the song was fun. Link to comment
The Luvly Junkie June 13, 2015 Share June 13, 2015 I thought tonight's episode was... okay. I was hoping Wayne would burst into butt-shaking or "twerking" for Song Styles. The music had an "Anaconda" feel. Overrall, a pretty good episode. Now if only we can stop the executives from repeating Dubbing and Living Scenery because I just noticed the restrained audience behind Aisha. Why do I get that feeling that they also wanted more variety in the games? I don't know if it's their manners holding them back from laughing too crazy... 1 Link to comment
ExplainItAgain June 14, 2015 Share June 14, 2015 3 games with the guest again....le sigh. Wayne's Nicki Minaj was outstanding. Wayne got to be a guy during Dubbing! The laughing during Dubbing was pretty funny. Living Scenery...blah. I do like Keegan, but Jeff Davis is still my fave 4th chair. 1 Link to comment
needschocolate June 15, 2015 Share June 15, 2015 Sometimes, when I watch Whose Line, I get annoyed because someone is laughing so loud that I can't hear the dialogue, then I realize that the person laughing is me. I am not a fan of the guest stars (just make them fourth chair if they are going to use them so much), but Vernon Davis had me laughing out loud a few times. Was anyone else thinking Wayne was trying some Silent Hill thing near the end of Props? I have no idea what he was trying to "represent" but it reminded me of Han Solo after he gets bronzed. Now if only we can stop the executives from repeating Dubbing and Living Scenery because I just noticed the restrained audience behind Aisha. Can we add the one where Colin is Ryan's arms? I am tired of that one, and it is the same joke over and over (let make Ryan eat something). I think they resort to those three (dubbing, scenery, and the arm thing) because those are the best games to do with the non-comedian guest stars - the guest stars just have to open their mouths, or do what Wayne (or Keegan) do, or just stand there. How badly the guest star performs is part of the joke. However, guest stars would be so bad at things like Scenes from a Hat or Dating Game that they can't turn it into something funny. I wish, if they are going to use guest stars, they would do Moving People fora change. 1 Link to comment
Actionmage June 15, 2015 Author Share June 15, 2015 (edited) Can we add the one where Colin is Ryan's arms? Ah, the largely disliked, if not despised, Helping Hands. It actually had a good outing in Episode 2, with Adaline Kane, of the CW's Reign. IA in that, if there is no faith that the guest star can improv decently, so that is why they are limited to Helping Hands and/ or Dubbing, with Living Scenery so they aren't just standing. If there aren't hordes of folks begging to be guests on the show, just bring in more 4th chairs who can actually do what is expected, CW. We don't need guests, but I personally like them now and again, not every episode. Again, I get the CW-show promoting, but from what I recall, the actual CW actor vs. anyone else guesting is less than the other categories of guests. My Silent Hill thing was, since I don't like the franchise, that Wayne was acting like a strangely-shaped, creepy being, which Silent Hill has by the metric ton, correct? A squarish cone with legs and oddly-placed hands sounds like something you could find. Intros: Wayne- Gun for hire,Keegan- Lethal Weapon, Colin- Sharpshooter and Ryan- Squirt gun. Games: Let's Make a Date, Song Style, Props, Dubbing and Living Scenery. Mr. Davis was a fun guest. He was reactive and game. I thought it was funny when Ryan reminded Mr. Davis during Dubbing, that Colin had the talking down okay. Mr. Davis was also nicely reactive during Song Style, especially the "don't catch that!" line. That he was also willing to be physical like Keegan was neat, as not that many guests have joined in as heartily. "Oh my gawd; Stars On Ice!" was one of the funnier, unexpected lines I've heard this season. During Dubbing, the laugh section was very fun! Mr. Davis' taunting dance, Wayne losing it, and everyone not Wayne apparently throwing back their heads and laughing like a comic book villain! It was an unexpected pleasure. While Props was the usual fun, Let's Make A Date felt... off? It may be me, but I just didn't find it as funny as other times with the game. Right now, I'm not sure why, but it just didn't hit the mark for me. I enjoyed this and recommend it. I am also looking forward to next episode! Edited June 15, 2015 by Actionmage 1 Link to comment

needschocolate June 16, 2015 Share June 16, 2015 I had never heard of Silent Hill until I read it in this forum. Or sound effects. I thought about using guest stars for Sound Effects - usually a funny game - but perhaps the guest stars, who are mostly actors, would be too good at Sound Effects to be unintentionally funny, but not good enough to be intentionally funny. Sound effects, when done by audience members,, was funny because the audience member didn't make the sound realistically and the guys would play off of that. The game where Colin made sound effects for Ryan (was that also called Sound Effects?) was funny because Colin was so great at it. I once saw a Whose Live on stage where they did Sound Effects with a good audience member - better than any I had seen on TV. For instance, at one point during the game the guys got on an (imaginary) elevator, and while they were in it, the audience member doing the sound effects started humming Muzak. He was good enough to be intentionally funny. 2 Link to comment

I had taken the two extremes as evidence it would work at any level, but you might be right there's a "middle" that drags. On the other hand, I also trust Ryan and Colin to escalate the scene if the guest is okay but not creative. To be honest I think I'd like that better than a bad audience member who just giggles to themselves while the actors joke about how silent their equipment is. 1 Link to comment
