legaleagle53 May 29, 2015 Share May 29, 2015 Strictly is going to have its first-ever same-sex couple compete either this year or next, according to Craig: http://www.ok.co.uk/tv/strictly-come-dancing-same-sex-couple-exclusive To which I say, "It's about. Bloody. TIME!" Link to comment
Anothermi May 29, 2015 Share May 29, 2015 I'll believe it when I see it. There was a lot of "ifs" in that article. It is, however, truly about. Bloody. TIME! 1 Link to comment
Occasional Hope November 14, 2015 Share November 14, 2015 There's a feature in this week's Radio Times on the show, with pieces by Jeremy Vine (he says everyone's lovely behind the scenes) and Craig, giving his views on various contestants. Apparently Peter Andre takes twice as long as everyone else to learn a routine. Nothing else very interesting (except that of those already out, Iwan Thomas "loved himself more than the dancing"). Occasional Hope February 28, 2016 Share February 28, 2016 According to the Daily Fail Georgia May Foote is now dating Giovanni, following a nasty bust-up with her boyfriend after the finale: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3467776/Georgia-Foote-left-bruised-terrified-ex-boyfriend-Sean-Ward-flew-jealous-rage-following-Strictly-final.html Link to comment

Sorry, I should have been clearer and provided a link. It won for Best Entertainment Programme: http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2016/may/08/bafta-tv-awards-2016-full-list-of-winners Link to comment
Anothermi May 9, 2016 Share May 9, 2016 Thanks for providing the link, Legaleagle53. 1st ever! you say. Somebody must like all the props and tinkering with the songs and dances that we tend to complain about. ;-) Having said that, I clicked on the link about the British government going after the BBC, but when I checked out the winners in each category I noticed BBC programs won in the majority of categories. Is this a case of Public TV working too well, so the government has to interfere so commercial channels get a fair shake... and the public gets shit programs from everyone? Link to comment
ceebee July 13, 2016 Share July 13, 2016 Len to quit Strictly after the 2016 season. I'll miss him ..... some of the time. Hasn't he just signed a very lucrative deal with DWTS? Was that just for one season or for longer? Link to comment
legaleagle53 July 13, 2016 Author Share July 13, 2016 Good question. He initially said that Spring 2015 was going to be his last season with DWTS, but he was back for Spring 2016 after sitting out the Fall 2015 season. That's why I don't put too much stock into this current idea that he's now done with Strictly. In other words, I'll believe it when I see it and Anton has replaced him on the panel (as James Jordan hopes will be the case if Len really does quit). Link to comment
Dots And Stripes July 29, 2016 Share July 29, 2016 BBC reporting the news makes me think this is more than just Len thinking out loud in an interview. TPTB in the US made it clear they wanted to keep him and probably made a better offer to get him to pick the US over the UK. Link to comment
Occasional Hope September 4, 2016 Share September 4, 2016 Record viewing figures for the opening episode. I wonder who the attraction is? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-37270968 Link to comment
legaleagle53 October 20, 2016 Author Share October 20, 2016 It would seem that Brendan Cole has died, according to CNN. Obviously he's not dead, but I wonder how many people saw the original post and freaked out over the news. Link to comment
Occasional Hope November 2, 2016 Share November 2, 2016 Slightly overwrought story in the press about Greg's (alleged) reaction to last week: http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/strictly-star-greg-rutherford-total-9174859 Link to comment
Occasional Hope November 8, 2016 Share November 8, 2016 Craig's views on the contestants are in next week's Radio Times. He puts Danny Mac at the top; then Louise, Ore and Claudia; then Greg, Daisy and Laura (obv written before her departure); then the Judge; and he's quite withering about Ed. Link to comment

legaleagle53 August 19, 2017 Author Share August 19, 2017 I imagine the show will do a tribute to him. Maybe Anton will choreograph a ballroom number in his honor. 2 Link to comment

This is the only show I saw him on (being on the other side of the pond and all) and even I got a bit sentimental watching it. Speaking of YouTube postings, they haven't uploaded anything yet for Saturday's show. Nothing to do but wait, I suppose. 1 Link to comment

It never posts the entire show or anything from the companion show It Takes Two, which has no counterpart in the US. Edited September 20, 2017 by legaleagle53 1 Link to comment

The only show so far was the launch show in which they did the tribute to Bruce. The first of the live shows is this Saturday, 23rd September. This is the group dance from the launch show. Hope you can view it... 1 Link to comment
A.Ham September 20, 2017 Share September 20, 2017 Thank you both for the clarification. I can see what the BBC posts (usually). I wish they would air the show on BBC America, I find it to be much better than our version. Link to comment

Dame sans merci October 9, 2018 Share October 9, 2018 So...Seann and Katya's 'snog-gate' is now pretty much a...national scandal, apparently?! I guess the suggestion of an illicit affair is a lot more palatable and exciting than actually having to see two people drunkenly sucking face in an alley. Given that Seann's (now) ex-girlfriend released a statement that suggests emotional abuse on his part, the whole thing has gone from salacious to serious pretty fast... 2 Link to comment

It's no more of a "national" scandal than Flavia Cacace's affair with one of her celeb partners a few years ago was. That supposedly was what ended her long-term relationship with Vincent Simone, although from what I read at the time, that relationship was already on its last legs long before she admitted to having the affair. And it really didn't last all that long. Flavia ended up marrying another one of her celeb partners (Jimi Mistry, whom I adored), and Vincent is also now happily married to someone else and is the proud father of two kids. So whatever Seann and Katya might have going on is no big deal as far as I'm concerned. 1 Link to comment

And before that it was Brendan Cole and Natasha Kaplinsky, which supposedly ended his relationship with...another dancer whose name I forget. And there have been many others - basically, the trash media will pounce on even the slightest hint of either potential romance or of scandal and then blows it up out of all proportion. Yes, didn't they even once try to sell a romance between Ian Waite and his celeb partner? Ian. Waite. The poster boy for marriage equality. 2 Link to comment

Now THAT is an example of REAL fake news. 3 Link to comment

Oh, don't get me wrong: i'm utterly bemused by how big this news is when - as you say - there's been all kinds of shenanigans going on in previous years (and I suspect we don't even know the half of what goes on!). This one just seems to have...snowballed. It was on the bloomin' nightly news, for crying out loud. Edited October 10, 2018 by Dame sans merci 1 Link to comment
