S04.E12: Bad to the Bone

I'm going on a cooking competition on Fox TV.  It's bound to have curveballs but there's no reason to learn how to use a pressure cooker beforehand, right?  Or go on Amazing Race without learning how to drive a stick shift.  But then, I wouldn't go on national TV with a Hitler wannabee moustache, so what do I know?

Agree about not slicing the steaks.  The only time I've gone to a steakhouse and seen a steak sliced is a giant porterhouse and it may have been sliced table side.

And yes, agree with going on shows and doing research first before going on to any reality show.  There's no reason to not know what this show's host/hosts are going to potentially throw at you.  I don't even watch a lot of reality shows but I'm constantly amazed when I watch one and someone goes, I don't know how to do that be it using a particular gadget in the kitchen or knowing even the barebones of a different cuisine or knowing how to sew or knowing how to drive a stick especially in the case of folks traveling outside of the US or knowing how to dance or do a kick line.

Serving meat sliced seems to be quite popular currently. To me it only makes sense if you're serving family style or the entrée doesn't include the entire steak/chop/rack/etc.

To that end, how many could eat an entire tomahawk or porterhouse by themselves?

Blais seems to see the writing on the wall with Beatrice as the eventual winner & tried desperately to get her in the elimination round. Nyesha wasn't picking up what he was laying down.

I still don't see brattiness or arrogance in Beatrice. Annoyingly hyper maybe but she's also quick to root on & congratulate her other castmates. Can the same be said about Austen, Brandon & Megan?

She was the only one that didn't clap when the two best dishes was announced last night in one of the challenges.

Not gonna lie-I teared up when Gordon told Ryan that he would help him at one of the Boston restaurants. This is why I love Gordon, and hand wave his assholishness on Hell's Kitchen. And his "Oh, Mate!" is the male version of "My dahling" and just made me all warm and fuzzy.

Wot?

I pretty much knew/figured Ryan would be the next to leave because he was a know-it-all in the talking heads and not listening to the advice that the chefs were giving him.

I pretty much side-eyed Bobby when he said he'd never heard or used a pressure cooker before. Why? Because he is one of the contestants that we've seen looked up and read old recipes waay back to the 1800s and does all kinds of research, if you will. So pardon me if I didn't believe him.

So I guess this means that Beatrice and Bobby are safe for next week and two of Megan, Austin, and Brandon go home (most likely Megan and Austin) so each mentor has one chef in the finale?

Yeah, that was very annoying. There were not only two but three dishes that were cooked worse than hers last night. He wanted to send her to elimination over peaches? I really wish they could figure out a way to do impartial judging. They're all guilty of trying to push their chefs forward but Blais is the absolute worst of the three.

Yep.  And even though she got at least one critical comment during judging, she still looked smug and like she expected to be one of the top dishes.

I’m torn because Austin and Brandon are two of my favourites.  I like Austin the most, and I want him to win.  But if he makes it to the finals that means it’s an all white final and I’m not sure if the show would do that.

I want whichever of them advances to win.  Or Bobby.  As long as it’s not Beatrice.

I hope for sure that Megan is out next time.  She barely made it out of the auditions.  I’m shocked she has lasted this long.
