DanaK April 2 Share April 2 (edited) Quote 04/02/2025 (09:00PM - 10:00PM) (Wednesday) : Kidd connects with a troubled teen interested in Girls on Fire. Cruz, Capp and Tony eagerly wait to try out Squad's new saw. Violet and Novak are stumped by a bodybuilder who passed out at the gym. This is a good idea, as it would likely turn disastrous if the adoptee is an infant. I'm not saying that won't be the case, but in my opinion, it's a better option. FnkyChkn34 April 3 Share April 3 All of these recycled storylines... ugh. The Severides aren't approved foster parents. I don't know how adopting a troubled kid would work unless she's already in the foster system and eligible for permanent adoption? Gabby was a foster, Cruz was approved through the refugee program and then legally adopted, Sylvie's was a direct adoption from the mother, and Casey's was guardianship of kids whose mother was in prison. Would any of those apply here? Hmm... presumably Severide and Kidd are on the wait list for a newborn or infant... I thought this episode was boring. Damon is also a recycled Jimmy Borelli and Blake Gallo. Eager to prove themselves, be "the best," with slight arrogance problems... They even all look similar. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152722-s13e17-a-beast-like-this/#findComment-8625109

I mean, I get it - there's not much you can do with a baby, whereas a teenager can provide all sorts of drama. Trouble is, we've been down this road over and over. Can't this show come up with anything original anymore? Why have Kidd and Severide adopt at all? Not everyone needs to have kids. Sheesh. threebluestars April 4 Share April 4 Dick Wolf has a thing for adoptions, especially adopting a kid you find/get to know during the course of your job. See: all his shows. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152722-s13e17-a-beast-like-this/#findComment-8625671
MediaZone4K April 4 Share April 4 Slow but decent episode. These days I find Chicago Med to be the most exciting of the three programs. Now that people here have mentioned it, there have been a heck of a lot oof adoptions among the characters on the show. How wild of a concept is it for firefighters to have natural children. But Stella does have a very good point about not wanting to get pregnant if she wants to keep doing her job. She'd be on desk duty for at least a year... 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152722-s13e17-a-beast-like-this/#findComment-8626030
DianeM April 4 Share April 4 Having a baby would certainly change their lives. I guess Stella wouldn't be bartending at Molly's anymore. Would they have a live-in nanny? 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152722-s13e17-a-beast-like-this/#findComment-8626137

God forbid anyone doesn't want kids. And after everyone else on this show has had or adopted kids it just feels like the writers don't know what else to do with their characters. Give 'em a kid! I was so hopeful Stella would buck the trend and tell Kelly she didn't want to have kids and they'd stay childfree. It'd be really nice to see that on TV more. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152722-s13e17-a-beast-like-this/#findComment-8629213
FnkyChkn34 Tuesday at 08:56 PM Share Tuesday at 08:56 PM Severide has wanted kids since season 1, and I don't recall Stella ever saying one way or the other. I think it would actually be weird if they changed his character now. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152722-s13e17-a-beast-like-this/#findComment-8629786

Back in Season 1 he and Shay were planning to have a kid together. And when an ex girlfriend showed up pregnant and it was his (it wasn’t) Severide was really excited about fatherhood.
