S04.E07: The Menu

Recommended Posts

Quote

This week, the chefs will work together to create a cohesive five course meal, with the help of a few surprise sous-chefs. To succeed in this challenge, the chefs must count on one another's culinary and communication skills in the all-new "The Menu" episode of Next Level Chef airing Thursday, Mar 27 (8:00-9:02 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Per the next episode promo from the most recent episode, it looks like the 3 judges join the teams as team members, which should be interesting

Agree that Megan can keep quiet.  She's screwed up dishes before so when she gets top dish or her team wins then maybe she can talk smack.

Exactly! It was just last week, that she grabbed just a handful of noodles for her Ramen, which turned out to be not so good.

She was acting as if Team Ramsay chefs were gloating, which, no, they weren't. Not only was Gordon taken aback, but all three chefs were as well.

Does she feel superior because she's published?

Ugh.  I heard way too many "LET'S GOOOOOOO"s in this episode.  Has this phrase uttered by Jordan and everyone else last season too many times become the signature catchphrase of this show?  Make it stop.

I liked the concept of the team menu but this was inherently unfair to Gordon's team since one team member had to cook two dishes in the same amount of time.  I guess NLC isn't about being equitable, just like how the people in the basement have a huge disadvantage.  But with all the time pressure already of making a single dish, I can't imagine having someone make two.

I get that they were functioning as a team, but if Ryan could cook two dishes in the same time, why did Natalia make Becca make her the empanada dough?  Why couldn't Natalia do it herself?  And why Becca as opposed to someone else? Becca spent a lot of time making that dough and she should have spent more time making sure her fish was cooked.

Megan is among my least favorite contestants.  She is way too arrogant considering her performance last week.

Too bad our local "chef" is not a fan favorite.
If you want to know more about Megan,  this is for you.

And, if you don't want to know more about her, you might be interested in this factoid about the show.
Please forgive me if this is common knowledge, I was surprised:

"Filmed in Ireland in January - Fox relocated many of its productions out of the U.S. to save on production costs".

I wonder if there are tariffs on television shows?

She actally was one of my top 3 (the other two being Jeff, who was eliminated, and the young guy on Gordon's team whose name I always forget). But when she started in with the "Those little s**** need to be taken down a notch," business (and said to Gordon, no less!), she's off my list. Not a smart move.
