S02.E08: Fire, Talk To Me

Recommended Posts

Yeah so, I am really going to need that third season, I have way too many questions. Is Simon actually dead or is he half stuck like Maddie? Xavier can see hospital ghosts? What was that red light that everyone, living and dead, could see? What was Mr. Martin saying about something weird being up with the school and there is a reason so man people have died there? Did Wally actually cross over?  Where does the show go from here now that Maddie is back in her body?

So I was sort of right, Mr. Martin did kill Janet (albeit accidently) and lied about it, and while it doesn't seem like he killed the other ghosts kids, he does know more about their deaths than he's let on and there is something up at Split River. I'm telling you, check for Hellmouths....

Everyone, including Mr. Anderson, calling Mr. Martin out on his shit was great to see. In retrospect, all of the stuff he was doing, having them write their own obituaries, having Wally reenact the game where he was killed, talking endlessly about everything they miss about being alive, was all pretty obviously fucked up.

Can I say that I really like the blocking on this show? I noticed it when the ghost Scoobs and living Scoobs were all trying to communicate with each other, when the living and ghost characters are in the same room if a living character is talking or looking around its just the living, but then it will cut to the ghosts being there too when one of them or Maddie talks or when the camera is just resting.

Aw, man, as soon as they couldn't reach Simon I figured something like that happened. He's done so much to save Maddie...no good deed goes unpunished! Was he the reason for all the red flashing lights?

Did not like how pleased Mr Martin looked when Janet went to confront him. She thought he was out of cards but nope. Was that about Simon or something else?

They've tried to intellectualize the way out but it seems like it's forgiveness and acceptance, yeah? Dawn, Janet, and Wally all reached some measure of peace and could let go. (And, in fiction, that's always the key. Not sure why no one has seen that.) I do think Wally crossed over.

My working theory is that Wally didn't cross over because all ghosts are supposed to help each other cross over, and they'd do that together, as a team. Plus, Wally did feel bad about them not saying goodbye to Dawn, and he would say goodbye to Charlie and Ronda first.

Oh! I just realized that in my brain, finding his exit and being able to exit = exiting. Didn't even occur to me that he could find it and then come back to it later after he said his goodbyes. Yeah, in that case he probably didn't. He'll be part of the solution to help Simon.

Tho when Janet found hers and didn't go through I was yelling in my head GO, GO NOW! WHAT IF IT'S NOT THERE WHEN YOU COME BACK?! So clearly my risk aversion is kicking up.

I thought previously that they couldn't go into each other's scars.  I guess this is just because no one did in the past few episodes.  I was really surprised one of the ghosts didn't offer to go into Rhonda's with her.  I thought one of their theories would be that, if they could go into their scars and change or realize something, then they could cross over, but they would need the help of their friends to do this. Kind of a kumbaya you need your friends type ending.
