Leighton's goodbye.

Heard that she has real potential as a musician or even performing in musicals, apparently was standing out in high school.

Blah they're back to the formula, new love or hookup interests and they get their big room back. New roomie, whom you can see in the previews after the credits.

This show celebrates hookup culture unapologetically.  So they pregame, they leer at bulges and pecs and abs.

Girls just wanna have fun is the message?

Kind of a contrast from Never Have I Ever, whose characters seem to have a bit more depth?

Leighton turned out to be a math wiz, though when she showed up on campus, she thought she'd date some rich scion and pledge at some prestigious sorority.

Otherwise, these characters don't seem to have ambitions other than getting it on.  Are any of them interested in academics?  Maybe Whitney, now that Leighton has moved on?

Whitney is all about soccer so that's her ambition. And being in a sorority, although her living there didn't last long so we'll see how important it is to her moving forward.

Bela, who has focused on comedy for two seasons, has abandoned that for this silly FAF story.

I have been disappointed in the season so far.  I wish they would have only done one episode of Leighton's goodbye because it feels like everyone else is stagnant.  The Kimberly Canaan thing just fizzled. The FAF isn't funny.  I don't understand what story they want to tell with Whitney's new love interest.

And I can't help but notice that the new queer chick looks very similar to Leighton.

Being the only Black girl in a sorority like that is so unappealing to me. Whitney described it as “some Get Out” shit at first and … yeah.

I think this is supposed to be her redemption arc, but she’s in way over her head trying to counsel a teenage alcoholic. Call her parents! Apparently her grades are trash so maybe have her focus on raising those instead.

Pauline Chamalet looks every one of her 32 years. It’s very weird watching her try to be a 19-20 year old.

This is from episode 1 but yea. Her weight loss has really aged her. Her face is so gaunt.

Renee Rapp? She was Regina George in Mean Girls on Broadway and the movie.

Yea, that felt a little weird to me. To replace Leighton with basically her twin most likely won't work imo. Adding in the alcoholism also felt like a very bizarre choice.

I am not sure Taylor (the blond lesbian) is their replacement roommate.

I'll spoiler tag just in case

Spoiler

During the trailer for this season there is a quick-cut scene where Kimberly is horrified  that she swiped right on Whitney's dad on a dating app.  The three of them are in their suite all dressed to go out and there is a 4th woman with them, a short-ish redhead.  I read that someone named Gracie Lawrence has been cast as a regular this season and I think that might be her.

I am underwhelmed with the season so far. The way they wrote out Leighton was lame AF (and once again, not how college works).  They have no idea how to write Whitney her personality is the least developed, imo. Also the show is making a super effort to show a wildly diverse campus and yet oddly the social experiences of these students is homogenized and narrow.

And whatever appeal Kimberly and Canaan had as a couple last season, dissipated during the break between seasons. They just looked so awkward.  And while we are on the subject of Canaan, he needs a hair makeover.

Lilah remains fun as fuck.
