One Imaginary Girl November 3, 2024 Share November 3, 2024 Pretty good that they had a bit during WU about unexpected couples, introduced by Colin, but no winking about him and his wife. Crashcourse November 4, 2024 Share November 4, 2024 I had heard of Chappell Roan but had never seen her perform until last night. She and that loud band behind her gave me a headache. 2 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150411-s50e05-john-mulaney-chappell-roan/page/2/#findComment-8498073

I did appreciate her actually singing instead of lip syncing. I feel like the gimmick detracts from her singing. I liked the Beppo sketch and the sitcom with Little Richard. Plus maybe What's That Name?, the Harvey Epstein bit, and parts of the Duane Reed musical. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150411-s50e05-john-mulaney-chappell-roan/page/2/#findComment-8498600
Tiggertoo November 5, 2024 Share November 5, 2024 I agree that Mulaney looked a bit rough. If he trimmed his hair and shaved, it might have been a bit better. But I always enjoy him. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150411-s50e05-john-mulaney-chappell-roan/page/2/#findComment-8499254

I don't think the outfits hurt her vocal strength (which is far above average compared to most). I guess I'd have to ask if you had the same objections in the long ago days when Gaga did it. If so? Fair enough. If not.. why not? On 11/3/2024 at 7:08 PM, Crashcourse said: I had heard of Chappell Roan but had never seen her perform until last night. heatherchandler November 9, 2024 Share November 9, 2024 I think Chappel Roan is a lot like Gaga where they are so original, creative and dramatic with their wardrobe but then they sing and it’s like bubble gum pop. I’m not a fan of Gaga mostly because I just don’t like her songs. I don’t like Chappell Roan’s songs either, except I do kind of like Hot-To-Go. I thought for sure she would sing that. That's odd, because Hot To Go is the song in her catalog that's the most bubble gum pop in nature (what you object to). It's actually very atypical of her music (which tends to be a lot more musically and lyrically complex than Hot To Go is). As for Gaga? I'd never peg her as Bubble Gum. There are different periods in her career with different types of music, but they're pretty far from Britney Spears or Tiffany or The Monkees or The Spice Girls or whatever else you might normally label that way. Here's her latest. This definitely isn't Bubble anything. In fact, I'll give an explicit content warning for anyone clicking on this (more for how unsettling and bizarre it is than sex or violence). Pete Martell January 3 Share January 3 (edited) I have no idea why (I'm guessing Chloe and Mulaney currently being in a play together may be why), but the Superman sketch from his episode has been uploaded to Youtube. Not really into this, but I did enjoy Mikey's part, and there are some good deadpan readings from Mulaney. Sarah also has a decent resemblance to Margot Kidder. If you love this Chloe character you can also enjoy her first appearance, back in season 48.
