My, too!  My Bohemian grandmother made wonderful kolache with poppy seed filling that I loved.  And Makový závin which is a poppy seed roll.  Gosh I miss those!  No recipes, of course, she just knew what needed to be used.  I did find Bohemian/American cookbook but for a lot of recipes the measurements are a "juice glass" of this or a "tumbler" of that!

 

My aunt lived in The States  while I was growing up in the UK.  She gave my Mum an American recipe where the recipes were all in cups, whereas Brits (and other Europeans) weigh things out.  My Mum just used a teacup and as long as she tasted to adjust for spicing, that worked just fine.

At Purim, a minor Jewish holiday, we eat little pastries called Hamentaschen.  Probably the most traditional filling is moen/mohn, that is predominantly poppy seeds.  It doubtless originated in Eastern Europe.

I had a terrible time this episode.  Both my faves Nellie and Dylan clearly in the bottom, one of them to go. There was no way I was going to be happy with the outcome. And I am not happy.  I hate these themed episodes.

It always comes down to flavour over form.  As others have said, Paul obviously found Nelly's pretty disgusting, while he loved Dylan's flavour.

On another note, I'm sure the young woman who won Star Baker is a lovely person, but I really want her gone because I just can't take her voice, and she gets a lot of air time.

I’ve had vegan dark chocolate truffles made for avocado and they were sublime. You’d never know it was made from avocado.

Same here. But I find Christiian's voice to be just as bad.  He also has vocal fry.  I do notice that when she's flustered and speaking a bit more quickly the vocal fry isn't as bad.

Plus the scrambled mix of accents. I honestly cannot understand a word of what he says.  Thank heavens for closed captioning.

That is true as he does but his bothers me just a tad less.

At this point, I no longer have a clear favorite.  They are all incredibly talented, the best we have ever seen, but there isn't one I am actively rooting for now.  What happens, happens and I don't think I will sweat the dreaded announcement.

I was heartbroken to see her go this week, she was my fav and I was rooting for her to win. I will miss her!

I'm hoping this happens!!  She was my favorite this season.
