Scariest House in America -- General Discussion

Anyone else watching the spin-off? I erroneously presumed this might just be repurposed/re-edited footage from Ugliest House, but it's new (though, I'm betting it was filmed at the same time). Mostly, it's just an excuse to enjoy Retta being Retta.

Only three "regions" for this one. (Unfortunately) Alison doing a remodel. If the scary house is already painted black, whatever will she do? *g*

I’m watching.  Mostly for Retta and her reactions.  I do have to wonder why anyone would buy some of these houses.  Most need a lot more work than just an Allison makeover.

This is the only reason why I watch.

Who lives in a house full of disrepair? A lot of it is clutter and probably most of it is laziness. A gallon of paint is still reasonably priced people.

I was glad they didn't pick the first one in the NW - the one with the well inside.  It looked like it was a real colonial and God knows what tragedy Allison Victoria would have inflicted on it.

Me too! That fall-to-your-death cottage was the right pick. If they win, I hope they keep the hilariously giant key, though!

I was really surprised at the Mid-West winner, though. If you took out all of the scary memorabilia (which I'm surprised the owner was willing to do), what was left just needed a bit of a spruce up. The haunted church was waaaay worse (dead people water eeek!), but I suppose could never be fixed for $150,000. Heck, just getting a better water source would probably blow a good chunk of the budget.

I don't want Allison Victoria anywhere near this house! It would be a tragedy.

The hidden room is most definitely haunted. I would open it up and take my chances!

Allison should figure out how to work with Retta all the time, permanently. Retta brings out Allison's better side and she's actually pleasant and dare I say, even amusing at times in this finale. I really enjoyed it, and she kept a lot of the charm and fairy tale qualities of the house. I even liked the use of the white walls and drawing the eye up to the catwalk. I loved the view of the 2nd floor main suite, the new stained glass windows fit in perfectly, and turning the small guest room into a custom closet. None of this is my style at all but I found it quite lovely in the end. I'll even give her the grass on the walls in the 3rd floor nook. She didn't cover all the walls and it did give it a certain 'magical forest' vibe to me. I'll allow it.

All in all, an enjoyable finale. Or, maybe I just need to always be high when I watch. 🤷🏽‍♀️🌬😉

I agree - Alison and Rhetta make a good combination together.  She did good on this one and even got a new giant key!  I wish she had painted the outside a different color - dark green, navy blue?

Me too!  I really don't like to see the exteriors of homes painted black.  No offense to anyone who likes it though!  Here in the south, having siding that dark would make the house even hotter in these blazing hot summers! I couldn't tell by the look on the guy's face if he liked the outside or not.  He really lit up once inside the house.

I did not like the dark colors in the kitchen either.  I thought she was trying to lighten things up!  I liked pretty much the rest of it though.  The ironwork was phenomenal!  Kudos to those women for their hard work.

I hope that the ghost of the previous owner, whom they said resides there, is okay with the changes.  I've watched too many scary shows to know that sometimes when you start a demo on a haunted house, well, you've opened the gates of hell!!

This is the Allison Victoria renovation I have liked the best out of the entire franchise. Or to say it differently, this is the only Allison Victoria renovation I have ever not hated on the entire franchise.
