mommalib October 10, 2024 Share October 10, 2024 (edited) I love episodes like this, it was Atwater centric but the team balanced everything out. It didn't feel like he was on an island by himself. This episode highlighted what I love most about Kev and that's compassion. He had a lot going between the case, being a landlord, his brother etc. I think this Val woman is going to actually be good for Kev, not only is she going to encourage him to let loose and not let the stress get him but she's also someone he can talk she will get it because she understands what he does. Snazzy Daisy October 11, 2024 Author Share October 11, 2024 Wait, there’s no mention of Detective Emily Martel at all??! 👀 This episode isn’t as strong as the previous two. The COTW doesn’t hold my attention. Val is coming on too strong too fast. Too much determination and lack of respect for personal boundaries — red flags. Wait until she starts to psychoanalyze him. Kevin, ruuuuun! 🤣 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149865-s12e03-off-switch/#findComment-8478057
Guildford October 11, 2024 Share October 11, 2024 Hoy boy isn't season 12 a HUGE step up on previous seasons. It's about damn time Kevin got some love & someone who can actually help him, knows he's a cop & isn't going to cause him all sorts of moral grief... I loved how Val just dived in, why not have some fun & if it works it works, if not they've had some fun finding out. She seems able to call him on his shit & hopefully we don't get a repeat of his lying in his last foray into some sack action. (Then again... Gwen doesn't seem as hell-bent of keeping all the characters in a perpetual state of misery like Eid did.) I found Dianne interesting, the way she was all over the shop, remembering bits & pieces. Sometimes it's either they can't remember anything or can recall everything in minute detail so it was nice that they were a bit more back & forth, and it made the case more interesting because of it. When I first watched it & Kim mentioned the cop with the scar... I did think, oh boy we are going back to the every other cop in CPD besides IU are bad apples. Happy to find out it wasn't the case. I am enjoying the style of this season, the loud music is gone, the myopic-ness of the episodes is toned way down. Yes, Kevin was clearly the only one that got any character development, but that's okay as long as the others are used throughout the case, which they seem to be doing. Hope it lasts. My only quibble would be that while it was nice they were remembering Martel in the beginning, it would've been nice if someone had checked on Adam. Nice to see Kim back.... & 3 episodes in I can't say I've missed the blonde horror one iota. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149865-s12e03-off-switch/#findComment-8478079

It's funny you mentioned Upton because I haven't thought about her at all. lol 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149865-s12e03-off-switch/#findComment-8478123
FnkyChkn34 October 11, 2024 Share October 11, 2024 Anyone else find it weird that Kim just walked up to the scene and Voight was like, "oh, you're back?" and she said she got in that morning... He's her sergeant and she was at a work conference - shouldn't he know her schedule? 🤣 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149865-s12e03-off-switch/#findComment-8478164

Guess they didn't want to waste too much time on that, but it was weird. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149865-s12e03-off-switch/#findComment-8478186

It honestly took me out of the episode for a few minutes. I was then thinking, wouldn't Adam have at least mentioned when she was coming back if they didn't already know? A "welcome back" would have been better than the "what are you doing here?" that they went with. 😆 Edited October 11, 2024 by FnkyChkn34 fixed typo 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149865-s12e03-off-switch/#findComment-8478198

Yes, the opening scene was her picture followed by the bartender passing a Chicago PD's hat around the bar. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149865-s12e03-off-switch/#findComment-8478508
Nintra16 October 14, 2024 Share October 14, 2024 S12 is really shaping up to be a great season. Probably one of my favorites. I relate to Kevin’s heavy burdened life and lack of an off-switch. He looked so tired and adorable at the doorstep 🥹 He’s in Chicago for Heaven’s sake; can’t they pair him with a Black woman sometimes? I wasn’t feeling that trick trying to tell Atwater how to do his job. Woman-to-woman though, I appreciate his apology for raising up at her at the crime scene. That’s a good man. I like laughing at little moments such as his super sweaty shirt and that tenant going off on him. That landlord life ain't easy. Didn’t understand why the cousin would help rob Diane’s shop. But I enjoyed the COTW. Random but I find Jordan’s to be the most uncomfortable shoes, so kudos to LaRoyce for filming those action scenes in them. 👏🏾 yay S12!
