The British version is the same as the American pussy. With pussy just being another word for a cat in the UK & has caused me much trouble since I moved to the USA 20 years ago

long ago I heard that Britain and the US were two countries separated by a common language :)

I remember being confused in a British crime drama, where a suspect complained that the police made him just sit there on his couch in his pants for an hour. (Pants is underpants in Brit usage)

Pants is also slang for 'useless'.

Just to confuse things even more!

I'm surprised there aren't any comments about Alison saying, "How does Fanny taste, guys?" Everyone cracked up. Is it because Americans are less familiar with the British slang usage? Very similar to them talking about "beaver" a few seasons ago.

We Americans cracked up on our couch. We're suckers for a sly dirty joke. No sophistication in our household. 😉Then again, we watch a number of British shows, and I read a lot of British books.
