chediavolo September 20 Share September 20 Any watch this? I’m in the middle of episode two. Can’t stop thinking about the psychiatrist. What does he have to gain by trying to help these two evil humans? There are so many renditions of the story. I don’t know what is actually true but my God that was brutal. The parents were absolutely awful, but no one deserves that. What a couple of sickos. Link to comment
Snazzy Daisy September 21 Author Share September 21 That murder scene is brutal — bullets fired through hand, stomach, feet, faces etc. Quote “Well, if we’re gonna kill our dad, we should probably just kill our mom too.” The LAPD detectives intuitively know that it isn’t a mob hit. They make a mistake by not covering all their bases — the brothers aren’t tested for GSR. Erik and Craig write a screenplay about a rich kid killing his parents. Lyle is right, Erik is an idiot for leaving all the breadcrumbs. 3 Link to comment

My memory of the actual case is full of holes by now, but in short: Money. Oziel was hoping for a massive payday when he sold his story (and those tapes) to a magazine, or a publisher, or a TV producer. His mistress blew all of that up when she took the story to the police -- for free -- instead. 1 Link to comment
txhorns79 September 22 Share September 22 So is this like the gay porn version of the Menendez killings? I can think of no particular reason, except to titillate the audience, for having the guys running around in Speedos, and kissing one another in a way that does not suggest brotherly love. I understand it comes out that Lyle sexually abused Erik, but this particular scene did not suggest that. 4 Link to comment

I don't think Ryan Murphy can tell a story without veering off into gay porn territory. 3 3 Link to comment
VanillaBeanne September 25 Share September 25 Yes. An 8 year old Lyle abused his brother once. He admitted to it in the first trial, I believe. He likely would have been recreating what was done to him by his father. This happens with abuse. I find it sickening that the show decided to turn that into a sick gratuitous incest story, deemphasizing the power and control aspects of sexual abuse but playing up the sexual aspect. But not surprising for Murphy, although a new low for him. 2 1 1 Link to comment
