Susan's smile of satisfaction when her car started right up was perfect.

Well, Lisa's sister certainly wasn't welcoming Susan with open arms!

Love the dog. So the dog was in the hotel for Parris's murder, and with Cecily when she vanished? (Sorry, don't recall the dog's name.)

Pünd's secretary is an interesting addition. I was sure Miss Cain was snooping around while Atticus was speaking with the home's residents.

Why Alan Conway left a clue about Frank’s killer in his book and not going to the police? 🤔

Fictional 1954

  • Mr. Schultz from William Morris Agency requested Atticus Pünd to look into Melissa James’ murder. She was strangled with telephone cord.
  • The last person to see her alive was Algernon Marsh. But her physician — Dr. Leonard Collins (Algernon’s BIL) was the last one to hear her.
  • Melissa called Dr. Collins for help because he’s nearer than the police. It took him 10 minutes to reach her home. She said there’s a man in the house.
  • Melissa’s husband — John Spencer had an alibi, watching an opera at Barnstaple. Pünd asked DI Chubb to confirm his alibi.
  • The Gardners were in the suspect list as they’re stealing from Moonflower Hotel.

  • There are 3 entrances/exits that lead to Room 12 in Moonflower Wing where Frank was staying — one way leads to a hotel lobby, the second way leads to an elevator that will go down to the hotel bar and the third way is an exit via fire escape that leads to outside.
  • Derek saw Stefan at Moonflower Wing that night. He didn’t see his face but he noticed Stefan’s wooly hat and he’s carrying a toolkit.
  • While staying at Branlow Hall, Frank Parris went to a law office of Sajid Khan in Framlingham. Sajid Khan was Alan Conway’s lawyer in Magpie Murders.

Present Day

  • Susan meets Lisa and Aiden. She is very direct and he’s acting suspiciously — reluctant to talk in detail about Cecily’s last day.
  • Lisa is the GM of Branlow Hall, Cecily oversees the accounts and Aiden is the PR guy.
  • When they were younger, Cecily threw a glass at Lisa and it scarred her face.
  • Lisa doesn’t think much of Cecily (an attention seeker) and her BIL, Aiden (a fast mover).
  • Aiden hit a jackpot when he married Cecily. It’s a shotgun wedding, Cecily was pregnant when she married Aiden.
  • Look at Cecily and Aiden, then look at their daughter — Roxana. Something doesn’t add up. 👀
  • Lawrence has defended Aiden, saying he was already successful when he met Cecily — an estate agent in his 20s with own flat in Bayswater.
  • Aiden says he’s attending a meeting in Ipswich regarding hotel’s new brochures when Cecily goes missing.
  • Gwyneth told Aiden that Cecily went out to walk her dog — Chase, usually in Woodbridge area. Chase came home without Cecily. Gwyneth was the last person to see Cecily alive.
  • Derek tells Susan that petty pilfering was caused by Natasha, not Stefan. But Lisa fired him anyway.
  • Susan also meets an Aussie, Liam Corby — Branlow Hall’s Spa Manager. He’s quite a menacing guy.
  • The camera lingers around a photo of Aiden/Cecily longer than it should. Aiden has a LEO tattoo. A star sign.

There are 2 sightings of LEO/LION in this episode — Aiden’s shoulder tattoo and Algernon’s number plate. Coincidence? Nope.

I watched the episode a second time tonight, so that Mom could catch up.

I noticed something odd this time through, in the fictional timeline. Melissa was supposed to have called the doctor for help on the downstairs phone, because the phone cord in her upstairs bedroom had been pulled from the wall by the murderer. Then she goes upstairs to the bedroom after the call and is murdered.

Why did Pünd (or maybe it was Chubb) specify that she couldn't have made the call from upstairs because of the phone cord? It's out of order - the murderer would have yanked the cord out of the wall after the call to the doctor - and it seems extraneous. So I wonder if it's a hidden clue. Or a red herring.

What's with the lions?

Alan Conway made a lot of "lion" references in his book — "Atticus Pünd Takes The Case". It's like he's trying to tell his readers something.
