The search for Zeus' missing watch turns deadly. Trouble is brewing in the Underworld, as an old friend of Prometheus' meets his destiny.

I don't know if I am going to keep watching. I abandoned this episode in the middle of Riddy's conversation with Caeneus after they bailed on the divers' party.

I don't understand why if the Fates hold a contest for living people to try to go to the underworld to get back a deceased loved one and both Anatole and Orpheus were given permission, Dionysus thinks that only Orpheus will succeed and Poseidon knows that will spell doom. If they stop Orpheus someone still has to stop Anatole.

Orpheus agreeing to work with Anatole and then betraying him felt repetetive. I get it, nobody is trustworthy.

For a moment I assumed that Orpheus was calling Dionysus Dennis so I was confused when that turned out to be the cat's name.

I think the idea is that the Fates gave them permission to try, not a guarantee that they would be successful. Other people have won the contest on other days, but no one has successfully come back. Dionysus thinks that Orpheus will be successful because his love is so strong. 

I knew there was going to something weird on the other side of the Frame. From what I can remember, the Greek Mythology doesn't have any kind of reincarnation so I thought it was weird that they kept talking about going for Renewal. 

Dennis is so cute and I'm more worried about him than any of the other characters, human or God.

That was creepy. It didn't occur to me that Renewal by going through the Frame was a lie, but it should have because you're right, there was no reincarnation in Greek mythology. Basically all the dead wandered around as shades with no memories after drinking from the river Lethe. Only exceptions were the really bad people who suffered eternal torture in Tartarus and heroes who were sent to the Elysian fields.

Makes me wonder who is more fortunate, those who had their coins or those who didn't? Either outcome is pretty bleak.

Since these gods were — right?—originally humans it may be worse. It may be that there is some intended outcome to death that this Hades was built to circumvent to supply the ‘gods’ with soul water. It may actually be reincarnation in this case.

Prometheus said Zeus was once human, was the implication all the gods were? Maybe so and I just took his statement at face value. Your speculation is interesting. I guess we have to throw what we thought we knew about mythology to the wayside and just buckle up for the ride.

Our household feels this way after every episode.  It's a slow march forward, knowing there is only betrayal and misery ahead.

On the plus side, Jeff Goldblum is creating a niche for himself playing characters in powerful positions who are petty and vindictive. The quirky mannerisms makes Zeus come off as even more of a paranoid douche. 

In this show,  humans actually interact with the gods, their belief is not based on faith in unseen beings ..  which would be big deal when it comes to a religion.
So it seems there would be some outage that Zeus would casually murder dozens of human 'ball boys'.

Orpheus' obsessive, possessive love of Riddy is kind of off-putting, but sending her to the underworld without a coin actually saved her from a literal fate worse than death. So, a blessing in disguise? 
The black and white underworld is an effective choice.  But the intended tedious existence does create a tedious viewing experience.

I am so confused about the ball boys. I always got the impression that humans can't go to Mt.Olympus and that all of the Gods' servants up there were just other lower ranking deities. (Kind of how in our world, the ladies in waiting of the Queen were other noble ladies and not poor women) Ganymede was mortal before he became Zeus's cup bearer but he was turned immortal so he could have the job. Who are the ball boys? If they are just regular humans, how did they get these jobs? Are they true believers, like Riddy's mom? Are their families given money/high esteem/etc?
