Somebody must have dropped out, because Najee was at the finals. If I get on tv (for like, half a second), it's during Najee high-fiving the risers as he runs past for his introduction. This was filmed separately, I wanted to see his run but when I checked with production he was number 55 and they were only up to about 30 and I had work in the morning.

The changes for next year sound horrible but if they have open tickets again I'll try to sign up.

I am finding that I am not enjoying this season all that much.   When I started watching, it was amateurs running for the fun of it.  Now it's kids who are purpose-training on the obstacles who do, and it's maybe more polished, but it feels more 'professional' and to me - not as interesting.   I am more interested in people's innate athleticism and joy of competing vs. someone who trained and trained and trained and now can do these obstacles in their sleep and focus their whole lives around this sport.  Meh.  That's like artisanal items vs. machine-produced - machines might do neater and more consistent work, but the artisanal is more interesting and unique, despite its possible imperfections.  This might be my last season watching...

Me neither.  I don't like the head to head races.  The ninjas used to compete against themselves and support each other.  Now they have to compete against each other.  They're still supportive but it's not the same.  I don't like all the teenagers, especially when they end up against someone 20 years older.  And we're only 30 minutes into tonight's show and I'm already sob-storied out.  They're spending more time on back stories than on the actual events.

The match between Flip and Ryan Stratis was a good illustration of why I don't like the head-to-head races.  Both of those guys have been around for years and are two of the names I think of as the "old guard" I like to follow.  In the old format, they had equal chances to succeed.  In the race format, one of them has to lose.  The whole race concept feels foreign to me wrt what I've always thought ANW is about.
