I hope it doesn't turn out that the poor guy has a Tyroid condition, but even if he doesn't it's a feature of his face and hardly something that he would be able to control.

 

True,  but most of the time he looks just happy and cute.   He's a nice looking young man, and I've seen lots of pictures of him without the surprised-eyed look, so maybe it's just a quirk that appears when he's nervous or excited, without his even thinking about it.
