Spoilers for S47!

Redmond has 4 11 contestants identified so far.

https://insidesurvivor.com/cast/rumored-survivor-47-cast

ETA: per posters at Sucks and Reddit, another person spotted in the promo is Aysha Welch from RHAP, and another podcaster Jon Lovett.

It's worth noting the season is still filming and it's supposedly around day 10.  Which if so means that the pre-jurors are still in Fiji, so maybe this will be a more spoiler heavy season if they come home and are active on SM like previous contestants have been.

I thought the preview felt different.  There were a lot of BTS shots; the welding, carving, etc., that we've never seen before.

I suspected that all the footage of the actual cast was from the pre-game/first cycle and this seems to clinch it.

I listen to a lot of podcasts, including the Pod Save America family of shows, and lately they've been making (I thought) jokes about cohost Jon Lovett not being there because he was off playing Survivor.  I really thought it was just a running joke, and he was on vacation or in rehab or whatever, but I finally googled it today, and sure enough there he is!  It was actually in the link posted above several days ago, but I'm usually not curious enough to click on those.  Didn't even notice that he was called out by name in the post!

Filming has completed.  I'm not sure if it means anything, but worth noting that Jon didn't return to his podcast until after filming finished.  Now it's very possible that production asked him to maintain a very low profile if he was pre-jury and went home with that group.

Redmond has identified 17/18 castaways (just missing one female cast member).

How do you feel about a famous podcaster going to Survivor? I'm talking about Aysha from RHAP who has a whole podcast by herself for love reality shows. I think the "magic" about podcasters is we don't really know how they are in their real life. I think seeing Aysha (and every other podcaster I love) in such difficult conditions, I will lose my perspective for her. It will be interesting what my opinion about her will be after the show.

Survivor 47 (Sept. 18, CBS)

There was certainly some spice on the last season of Survivor, with players going at each other… including a very public dressing down over, of all things, Applebee’s. You can expect that intensity to continue on Survivor 47. “I think one of the biggest differences throughout the new era is the agency,” says host and showrunner Jeff Probst. “Every player in the game has their own story. And so when you have 18 people who all have a very clear vision of who they are, who they want to be, what they want to accomplish, then they're not going to let anyone else get in their way. And that can create obstacles within a tribe.” Whether those obstacles will involve comedian and podcaster Jon Lovett remains to be seen. —Dalton Ross

Survivor 47 host Jeff Probst teases a battle between big dogs and underdogs
By Dalton Ross   September 13, 2024
https://ew.com/survivor-47-jeff-probst-battle-big-dogs-underdogs-8703506

Quote

With all that in mind, we asked host and showrunner Jeff Probst what we can expect from the Survivor 47 cast when the season premieres Sept. 18 on CBS. “What I noticed straight out of the gate was there was a lot of talk about, am I a big dog or am I an underdog?” Probst tells Entertainment Weekly. “And it was really interesting to see how that gained a little momentum throughout the season.”
*  *  *
To Probst, perception is the key. “If you are good at ascertaining or evaluating or reading the room, if you're good at understanding how you're seen by other players, you're going to be more successful. And if you have a blind spot and you don't realize how other players see you, you're going to struggle.”

Expect that struggle to extend to some members of the Survivor 47 cast. “That's really clear this season, that certain players see themselves in a certain light and they don't realize that is not how they are seen by other players,” says Probst. “And if they have the ability to step outside and look at it from a global, big-picture view, they might make different decisions, they might say things in a different way. That's one of the most fascinating parts of this show, is that everybody thinks they know themselves and everybody thinks they can read the room, but it's not true.”
*  *  *
And that means the events of the past become the lessons of the present. “Coming into 47, the idol play of 46 was in the top of every player's mind,” Probst reveals. “They were reevaluating how they might've played it if they were on 46, and how that's going to impact how they played 47. So it's one of the things that's been really fun is that it's a living, breathing, always evolving strategic approach to how to play Survivor.”

For our first real spoiler this season, it looks like we're swapping from three tribes to two next week:

305199_1966c5641372938be7b92989bdfc66f1.

The challenge setup looks to be made for only two tribes.  So Gata and Tuku will continue on, while Lavo is dissolved.

Hopefully this gives Sol the life he needs in this game, and that Rome using his steal a vote last night backfires.

I saw another spoiler on Reddit that reportedly came from Robot (the same poster who’s pretty accurately spoiled the last few seasons).  He said a woman wins this season but it’s not Anika.  Some of the spoilers that were originally out there were:

Genevieve, TK, Kishan and Rachel were pre-jury (so far we know 2 of these are correct)

Teeny, Sierra, Sol, and Tiyana do well

Asyah, Jon, and Andy make the jury (2 of these are incorrect)

I won't be surprised if this turns out to be true.  Nearly all of the men, both in the game and currently out of it, have been dunked on or flat-out buried in the edit.  Andy, Sam, Gabe, and especially Rome have had that distinction, and even Jon, T.K., and Kishan got dunked on in their boot episodes.  Only Kyle and Sol have been spared from that, and even then, that's just because they've both been virtually invisible up to now.

Meanwhile, nearly all of the women have been generally presented in a positive light.  Rachel, Sierra, Sue, Caroline, Tiyana, Genevieve, and Aysha . . .  all positive-leaning edits so far.  Anika and Teeny are the only ones to get some negativity shown, but even then, I've seen more positive from them both than negative.

I really haven't seen such obvious women = good, men = bad editing since One World.  But it definitely could support robot's claim that a woman wins this season.

I read on Reddit that there was speculation that either Sierra or Caroline could win. Don't know how accurate this is, though.

You mean the swap?

Link to comment

So per Reddit, it might not be an actual tribe swap, but just a swap for the RC.  And then tribes go back to their normal 3 for the IC.  Here's a look at the blue tribe:

https://www.reddit.com/r/SpoiledSurvivor/comments/1g3upux/47speculation_blue_team_in_episode_5_challenge/

It consists of Sol, Rome, Genevieve, Sierra, Anika, Gabe, and Andy.  This would make Sue, Sam, Rachel, Teeny, Tiyana, Caroline, and Kyle yellow.

The idea is that the winning tribe will go on a reward, probably to the sanctuary, and do some bonding (and probably some spilling).

The promos include Jeff saying this is a twist "they've never done before".

Tribe swaps and merges are fairly commonplace this many seasons in.

A temporary swap for a single RC is something they've never done before.

So apparently Andy was picked last in the school yard pick, and Sierra was the one who didn’t pick him (she picked Sue).  And this was after he went on some spiel about being picked last for stuff and how it made him feel.  Between that and leaving him out of being the decoy vote the last TC I guess Sierra and Sam must feel good about their standing to abandon Andy.  So I am wondering if Andy is going to lead to Sierra and Sam’s downfall.

I feel like we were being hinted that Gata was going to pay for keeping Andy over Jon way back in week one.  I wonder if we're about to see the consequences of it?

I feel like this season has sort of had a theme that people may regret who they voted off.  Kishan and Teeny didn't keep Asyah, and that cost Kishan.  Tiyanna voted off TK and that may cost her (we'll see how it goes with the former Tuku members, but she's clearly on their radar).  Rome may have been further ahead targeting Sol over Asyah.

And now with Gata, Sam and Sierra essentially have 2 former members on the outs with them (because what does Rachel really owe them?)  I've considered Andy sort of the dopey sidekick who thinks he's coming up with the plans but really riding Sam and Sierra's coattails.  The third wheel essentially.  So I could definitely see him going after them.  He's got more than enough people to tell him they were fine with him being the backup plan if they try and plead ignorance.

And since the winner is rumored to be a woman, I'm honestly wondering if it ends up being Genevieve, and that Teeny will be sorry she didn't vote her off in the Asyah vote.

We have a bootlist at last.

Apparently, Rome, of all people, spilled the boot order from the merge and on while on a podcast.  He kind of did a rap that revealed the order from F12 to the end:

12th: Tiyana
11th: Sierra
10th: Sol
----------------
9th: Caroline
8th: Gabe
7th: Kyle
6th: Andy
5th: Genevieve
4th: Teeny
3rd/2nd: Sue
2nd/3rd: Sam
1st: Rachel

Rachel's edit in the recent episodes definitely seems to point to a win by her, so I can believe it.

Link to comment

I did see that, and have to say it’s somewhat believable.  I just can’t believe Rome would be that stupid to spoil the rest of the season in one of his interviews and not get sued.  It’s also interesting that Tuku pretty much gets steam rolled in the next few TC.  But I guess we’ll see next week because I don’t think Caroline has really been on the radar to get ousted-though many realize how tight she is with Sue.

Though I will say that of the women left, I do think Rachel and Genevieve have the best shot at winning.  Genevieve did slide for me last night simply because her plan to oust Sol seemed more complicated than it needed to be, not as big of a move as she thought it was, and done simply for revenge and not strategic purposes.
