So the restaurant show that he is affiliated with is in Chicago, however, he is from Canada. Apparently, he is responsible for cooking or creating a lot of the dishes that you see on the show. It's also shot in Chicago so he was probably in the area when they were filming TC episode. 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146171-s21e06-chaos-cuisine/page/3/#findComment-8355959

He was born in New Brunswick, lived in Nova Scotia as a kid and moved to Ontario as a teen. All of his current restaurants are in Toronto except the one in Port Erie where he's from. He may be a loud slob but he's our loud slob. Thank you for this. I'm from the US, but I knew Matty M. was Canadian, because of an Architectural Digest piece I read about him and his latest Toronto restaurant, that's almost two years old now. I also watched a corresponding video on Architectural Digest's YouTube channel. Here's the link to the article: https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/chef-matty-matheson-toronto-restaurant Matty Matheson is a well respected Canadian Chef and Restauranteur, and that's before he became known for The Bear. I think the level of vitriol against him that's been appearing in this thread is very upsetting, with a good amount of underlying fat shaming occurring, under the guise of calling him a slob. He's far from the first person who's appeared on Top Chef who has licked some yummy sauce off his finger. 4 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146171-s21e06-chaos-cuisine/page/3/#findComment-8356153

I had a bad impression of him from his meaningless description of chaos cuisine and from his grooming which seemed lacking. 2 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146171-s21e06-chaos-cuisine/page/3/#findComment-8356350

Here is a dense fairly disjoined attempt to explain it from a "fine dining" or "let's make choas cuisine and sell it for a bunch of money!" article:https://www.eater.com/23331987/restaurant-dining-trends-chaos-cooking-fusion-cuisine Based on what I read in this article and the idea of fusion in Chaos cuisine, I would have thought Laura could have come out on top. Her cooking history seems made for it. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146171-s21e06-chaos-cuisine/page/3/#findComment-8357845
seltzer3 May 3, 2024 Share May 3, 2024 So apparently Danny's chaos dish was him plagiarizing a dish from a former employer. Yikes? Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146171-s21e06-chaos-cuisine/page/3/#findComment-8358426
Fukui San May 3, 2024 Share May 3, 2024 I saw the complaint by the former employer and I just shrug. I don’t expect any dish on Top Chef to be original with rare exceptions we could probably name. Even the losing dish this episode was said by Rasika to be on her menu and well received (which made her elimination surprising to her). I don’t expect dishes to be original and I don’t expect the show to spend any time drilling down into the origins of dishes when dishes learned from other chefs are served every episode. Unless someone more learned than me can make the case that this is actually a transgression, I just shrug. Ilan won his whole season plagiarizing his employer. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146171-s21e06-chaos-cuisine/page/3/#findComment-8358483
